Hello, friends!
There's not much better than exploring row after row of books on a cozy, rainy day.
Thank you so much to the bookstores who participated in this video! Big big big shoutout to Joanna, Gere and Michelle, who so bravely agreed to speak on camera about their favorite books 📚 And thank you, viewer friend, for being here ❤️
Big hugs,
Morgan

So true!!!
Thank you for showing up every other Friday to appreciate my videos, Poppy friend!
Our sweet brave girl 🩵 *tight hugs!* How courageous you've been 😊 I'm so very proud that you introduced yourself to new people...and new book stores. My coworker, when she opened up the little fabric shop I worked at every morning some years ago, would always insist on greeting the store and singing a little tune to make the spirits within happy. How much joy must a book store have watching readers peruse, gush, cry, get upset, and swoon over their paper children?
I love love love this story and thought 🩵
I really loved the interviews you did. It sounds scary to talk to people that don't know you, or that aren't accustomed to being in camera, so 👏👏👏 props to you!
How about doing a vlog reading the books they recommended?
It was so scary! Hahaha I nervous sweat through all my clothes 😂 I love the idea of a follow up reading vlog.
I loved seeing all the bookstores. Tell the woman in the last one with the blue bookshelves thank you thank you thank you for giving space for poetry and mentioning poets! THANKS YOU!!!!!
Yes, 👍 totally agree!!! ❤🎉😊 there are so many categorical themes of poetry books 📚 out there, that don’t get the attention they deserve. But this book store caught my attention when as well on poetry. So beautiful to actually hear the store owner talk about the attention she gives to the poets.
Morgan- Your confidence is growing and it shows in the last few videos, especially this one! 🥰
You have always been such a light and you shine so beautifully in the world. Blessings to you. 🙏
Thank you so incredibly much, Kim friend ❤️
The big vegan flavor book will not disappoint. I follow the author on youtube and everything I made my husband asks me to make again.
I wish I could have gone with you to these shops! I spotted so many good ones I've read, both in general and of the staff recos, and I would have tried hard not to overwhelm you with all the books I'd press into your hands. I too love to ask staff I've never met for their recommendations. I love being surprised by books I wouldn't have picked up on my own. Ah, if I could have any business, it would be a bookstore! I've worked at several, but also at libraries, and I'm a copyeditor. Books have been my life and passion for over 45 years. What a fun video and I love that you're discovering more new shops!
You probably have the best recommendations! Your excitement over reading is wonderfully contagious!
Love bookstores that support the local authors. Yay for us poets!,good for her.
I thought this morning; I miss Morgan. And then you post, without me knowing it, a video!❤
I love your videos Morgan, they always make me so happy, you are a safeplace on the internet ❤
Thank you for appreciating my videos so!
Hello Morgan.I am Japanese and recently started watching your channel.I love your cozy videos and they help me relax from work and childcare.I too love to read and have started reading some of the books you have mentioned in your videos so far.I find it wonderful that we live in completely different countries and yet enjoy the same books.Your city is full of wonderful little bookstores.I too will be exploring my city this fall.I look forward to more of your videos in the future.
Haruna
Oh hello Mo with another cozy video on this cozy season 😍😍🫶
❤️❤️❤️
❤📚❤️
Such a delightful video. You've done it again!
Thank you, friend!
I mean this with the utmost love, when I saw bookstore in the thumbnail I thought, guess we have to go to Powells again. What a lovely surprise this video was! Super fun! I raise my teacup to you! ❤
Hahaha, I think I feel the same as you! Very ready to branch out :) Thank you ❤️
You have beautiful bookshops in Portland! Great video Morgan! I hope I manage to visit your country and town one day and see all these amazing places in person 🤍🕊️
I loved this video! I found myself smiling the whole time I watched it. It was super original and thoughtful!
thanks for making me smile on a hard day :)
This was the perfect premiere to finally partake in! ❤
Also, I'm soooo excited you picked up 'Paladin's Grace'. I borrowed it from a friend and it's what I'm reading next after I finish 'Our Hideous Progeny'. (Which is fantastic btw...)
Oooo, we'll probably be reading it at the same time then!
This is such a wonderful video Morgan! Thank you! I love seeing Portland, my mom was Rose Festival Queen back in 1959 (Ruth Parrett) and grew up there, so it’s especially fun for me to see the area. I was too little to remember the brief time I lived there myself. Need to come for another visit soon! I read The Midnight Library, possibly from your recommendation, and loved it! I enjoyed your visits and interviews with the local bookstores so much! 🍂🍄💕
I've seen your mom's name carved into the Rose Queen path in the Rose Garden! I've even read it aloud 🌹 Thank you for watching and appreciating my video, friend!
@@MorganLong oh that is amazing!!! Thank you for sharing that with me! She is 84 now living in Federal Way Wa. One of these days I should take her for a Portland weekend :)
I am so glad you went to Spoke & Word. They have only been open for a year and are such a lovely addition to our Portland adjacent area!
I had an overnight layover in Portland recently so I visited Powell's since I had seen it in so many of your videos!!! I could have stayed for HOURS!! I will add these ones to my list for next time :)
What a wonderful way to spend a layover!! ❤️
What an awesome video, my love!!!
Thank you, my Love!!
Wahoo!! So excited for this 🥰 your bookish videos are my favorite!! Thank you for taking us to bookstores 😊! Hope you are well xx
Thank you, friend!!
This was such a beautiful video, it is rare someone goes to a bookstore AND speaks to those working there. I know how big this was for you as I have been a fan for a time and so so proud of you. My Saturday breakfast routine every 2 weeks is getting cosy and watching you, just perfect 💜💜
Hi Morgan… I’m your subscriber from India… I would highly recommend Days at morisaki bookshop.
Believe me it’s so comforting and feels like a warm hug ❤️
I too am a bookstore lover and so enjoyed that you shared your local bookshops with us! Thank you for another fabulous and thoughtful video, Morgan❤
Thank you, friend ❤️
That was so enjoyable Morgan! Thank you for the tour & stepping out of your comfort zone to share it!
Thank you, friend!
oh!!! Morgan you was Such a Natural at this!!! You’re a Great Listener and I love Your Genuine interest and curiosity in everyone you talked too 🥰🥰💕
I love seeing more of your bookstores there! This was so cozy and nice. You exude friendliness and brighten my day 😊 we definitely need a part 2 at some point!
Thank you, Lilly friend!
I love Annie Bloom’s books!! I love that you did this- Portland has so many lovely bookstores! And Powell’s is amazing and deserves the hype, but the other stores deserve just as much love!! 🥰♥️
Also The Mysterious Benedict Society was one of my favorite series when I was a kid!
loveable❤, magical 🪄, wonderful 🤩. Thank you! 📚
Thank you so much, friend! ❤️
Book 📕 shopping in autumn 🍂 is just the best! 🍁☕️☁️
I agree!
Morgan, this was so much fun! I work in Milwaukie and have been to Spoke n Word a couple times. This may be their second season and like many new stores they have struggled. Shop local!! and keep these gems open. This tour video reminded me of your travels to all the pop up free book libraries in town. I loved that video and the evening mood you two enjoyed together. Happy Autumn in Portland!
Such a fulfilling and heartwarming vlog. Especially that last bookstore. That is what bookstores are for community
Oh man, I loved this video and style! Must be so hard to repeat and find more and more bookstores. Could you imagine traveling to towns to do more of this? Maybe even Japan, down that street of bookstores! That would be final boss mode, lol
I love reading 📚 books but right now l'm so busy with work so what I've gone and done is before I go to bed I require myself to read four pages a night before bed!! Fantastic video dear God Bless ❤
That's a great way to get reading done when there's no time for reading 📚
Loved this Morgan♥️ so interesting on how each bookstore had there own personalities its something that gets overlooked, this was a fantastic video
Thank you, friend!
Perfect Mo... Great idea, lovely presentation just heart-warming for a Friday night David x
Thank you, friend ❤️
This was so lovely! One of my dreams is to own a cozy neighborhood bookshop someday. Kudos to you for stepping out of your comfort zone and taking us along with you!
Would love a reading vlog of you reading these books, what a fun series this could be! :)
I really love this idea!
@@MorganLong No pressure haha, reading takes time and you have to be in the mood but your video is sooo unique, your creativity is always so delightful and inspiring :) Happy Birthday soon
Love this!!❤ Thanks for taking us along, Morgan. Wish we had more good old-fashioned bookstores. Barnes & Noble has some lovely aspects but doesn't quite rival the creaky wood floors, rich musty paper smell & visual enticement of old & new covers. Enjoyed seeing them through your magical & appreciative gaze. 🎉😊
Thank you, Skye friend. This is beautifully said!
Hey Mo! Just a little note that the name of the author of Hyunam-Dong Bookshop is pronounced Hwang Boh-r-uhm rather than ree-um; the "eu" in Korean is pronounced like the English word "eugh" without the vocalisation of the /gh/ at the end - I don't think I can link it here, but if you search "Author Talks: Hwang Bo-reum" in TH-cam a video from the Korea Society should come up, which will give you an idea of how it sounds :) I really recommend watching it all the way through - there are English subs - as it gives a really interesting insight into the ideas and process that went into the book :).
Thank you so much for sharing, Francesca friend! I would really like to get his name right.
I was so so excited to see this video idea, proud of you!! Your creativity this year for videos has exceeded I've noticed! Past you especially would be so proud too!
The Sentence by Louise Erdrich had the essence of this video !
My window display queen smashing it
Have a great weekend Mo xx hugs xx I hope to finish Emma this weekend 📖
Thank you, always, Ellie friend 📚
I really loved this video ❤ (It's been a while since I have left a comment, not because I have not watched or enjoyed your videos - I have watched them ALL - but because energy and time has been preciously low for me.) Seeing those new bookstores with all their personality was so much fun! 😊 I appreciate how much detail and thought live in all those bookstores and how kind and courageous their employees stepped forward! The lamps in UP UP Books are so cool! Thanks for this lovely video, Mo. I really appreciate the effort you put into exploring and shouting out local bookstores! ❤
🦇🦇🐿🍂🍁🫖🥧🍵🕯📓🖋📚So grateful Morgan that i found you,,your channel is truly soul medicine!!!!
Thank you so so very much, Barbara friend ❤️
This was such a fun video. Thank you for taking us along with you. I absolutely love small independent book shops. Sadly, we don’t have any at all in our area. I’ve searched far and wide. We do have 2 Barnes and Noble’s within 20 minutes of us at least. The new CEO is trying to slowly turn them back into smaller shops with more curated books for that particular area. He wants them to feel more like independent book stores. Anyway, we’re moving to a small town within the next few years (not sure where yet or which state), but one of the top things on my list is that the town MUST have a small bookstore. Luckily, my husband is fully onboard with this because he knows how much I enjoy reading and cozy book shops. Have a wonderful Autumn weekend🍂🍁🧡
Your videos are a gift Morgan💕a big hug to you 😘
Lovely vlog! Nice interviews! Thank you for inspiration❤
Thank you!!
I’m so proud of you for doing this hard thing. I love watching you shop for books. I rarely get to go to bookstores since my town doesn’t have one.
Thank you so much, friend!
Fabulous vlog! Love the bookshops and thank you for taking us with you.
I loved this video Morgan! NOTHING more wonderful than a community bookstore 💕
Oh! Morgan, this was a lovely video. Those bookstores looked amazing. I loved the children books corner in the last bookstore. The behind wallpaper was adorable.
I recently read Samanta Schweblin‘s Mouthful of Birds. I loved it. The stories in it were creepy (not scary) which I liked, and in the stories there were like, how can I say, all of a sudden something very normal thing becomes abnornal. 😬 It had lots of plot twists. And then I immediatlely bought her other book which is called Seven Empty Houses. Now I’m reading this one. This one is also short storied collection like the other one.
Did you ever read Samanta Schweblin? If not, I highly recommend you to check her books.
I’m sending you lots of kind hugs. 💛 Take care.
Thank you, friend 💛💛💛 I'm not sure I could handle the mind-twists of Schweblin, but they sound really really good.
Yay! I'm a fellow book-loving Portlander and as much as we all love powells, there are truly so many amazing indie bookstores in our city! ☺️ Thank you for featuring some of them! ❤
I love you so much. I am so proud of you going outside of your comfort zone. Thank you for all you do to uplift me.
I love that you were so inspired by Welcome to the Hyunam-dong bookshop! It was a book that really touched me as well. 🥰
Oh Morgan, what a treat this Vlog was. Thank you so much.
Well, thank you for the book store tours as always ❤🎉😊 and your meaningful, thoughtful, cozy , fun, friendly videos
OHHHH I saw Love and Saffron... excellent book! My dream is to someday go to Powell's. I have a shirt, a mug, and a bag, but have NEVER been there. I love this so much, I think I may do this as well in my area if it would be ok that I used your idea. The whole reason I started a booktube channel was to build a community of book lovers. I adore this Morgan.. thank you!
Morgan, i just finished "Rewitched" by Lucy Wood, my other comfort TH-camr and I really, truly feel, from the bottom of my heart that you would love it. Think cozy, think Autumn, think a witch who works in a little independent bookstore. Thank you for all the joy you put into the world, as always ❤
This sounds perfect!!
I absolutely love those bookstores. I wish my city had book stores like those. Thank u for showing us.❤
this is one of my favorite of your videos!!
thank you so so much! loved this weeks video i was so happy to see it up when i finished cooking my butternut squash soup! may i ask where you got your sweater? i know silly question but i've been trying to look for sweaters that have a knit look that are actually warm either made of wool or alpaca lol
Thank you, friend!! And I actually got my sweater from Target years ago. They just don't make them like they used to!
I love the bookseller's interviews ! It's exactly what i have to learn in my english class for my librarian studies and i could whatch this for hours 😄📖 Thank you to share the magics vibes of all this bookstores you're so lucky to have so many in your city. ps: I'm french speaker this why i have english class ☺
Happy to see a new video from you. A great start to my Staycation (I am off work for the next week and a half).
What a thoughtful video ❤ I absolutely love my local bookstore….so cute and cozy ❤
love this video!! this should be a serie of videos showing magical local bookstores in portland :)
Such an incredible video concept 😍😍😍😍 loved it!
I too LOVE books, and can just disappear into the world I am reading about. I see the pictures in my head of what the written word is telling me, and find this is sooo much better than any film from the book. Reading a book is the place I escape to, when things get too much. I would love to have my own book shop, giving away the second hand books donated by folk, as well as selling new ones. I am like you Morgan, I could spend hours in a book shop. Books are like food to me, they nourish and fortify. I am on my 7th book of reading in 3 months, and have a stack of my second hand books now to go on and live another life, with someone else who will enjoy reading them. I am nearly 68 years young (my Birthday is in November) and would love to write my own book. I feel it is never too late to try new things! I also write poetry, and walking in the nature that is all around me here in West Devon, England, brings words into my head, that I have to get down on paper, often in poetic form. I have had a friend who is a wonderful flute player, play her flute to one of my poems, and it is sooo magical! It is so sad that so many book shops have closed in England, but I suppose the big ones are still thriving. The touch of a real book can not be replaced by reading from an electrical device in my world. Let us hope that others feel the same.
Thank you for this lovely video, and for your courage to go and do this. Love and Blessings from Jilly & Madge. xxx
I felt like I was right there with you in those cozy little bookstores! Living in a city with only chain bookstores, I often long for the charm of those small local shops 🥹♥️
Thank you for letting me experience this through your video!
I loved this! Thank you for taking us along
Small town here no bookstores! Enjoyed your video today. Love your sweater!
I loved the Bookstore book as well. I’m so happy that you visited book stores in this video. Maybe you can do a coffee shop one next. I love Portland!
Thank you that was cool they do the bookstore each has a different feel❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Taking a bath, I have my warm cup of peppermint tea, a perfect Friday! 🥰💕
This was so much fun Morgan! I love exploring new bookshops and it was so brave of you to ask to film and interview staff for book recommendations. I admit I am a sucker for a inventive window display and Annie Blooms was wonderful. I would have been tempted to get "Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice" from the Pumpkin Patch display or the "BIG Flavor Vegan" cookbook. I definitely want to read "Days Of The Morisaki Bookshop". When you saw the Children's Storytime sign outside it gave me immediate Kathleen Kelly (You've Got Mail) vibes. I also love when indie bookshops have a cozy reading corner and those big comfy high back chairs. The Spoke and Word looked like a very cozy bookshop. Loved the blue exterior and how they had the Halloween themed books set up along with candles, cards, stickers and washi tape. Lastly I liked how Up Up Books had such a wonderful poetry section and really promoted local Portland writers. The folded book hanging decorations were wonderful as well as the children's section with the arched doorway and lovely wallpaper and moss hanging from the ceiling. Magical. I would love if you decide to do this again as we have so many wonderful indie bookshops and used bookstores to explore here in Portland and nearby areas. Wishing you a wonderful weekend Morgan my friend.💜
Bonjour Morgan!
Bonjour!
Hi Morgan! Love all your videos! ❤ I live in Spain but I am so willing to visit Portland one day to go to all of those bookstores! 📚
What a great way to start the week-end ❤ 🎉 you were brave and wonderful 🤛🏼👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was absolutely wonderful ❤
Loving this!
Thank you!
😂 One thing I'd like to add as a past and future bookseller is how it drains our personal finances.💸😅 I remember once at B&N during holiday season I had my stack of books for purchase. I had just received my paycheck and we had a really good employee discount plus the holiday discount. I had to sign my check over and pull more money out of my purse to pay for my purchases. 😅📚🛍️
Thank you Morgan ❤.
what a cute video! ooh i spied my fav author on the shelves in bookstore # 2 (Alexis Hall!)
i went to nashville earlier this year and went to a couple local bookstores it was wonderful ❤️
& of course i love my local bookstore too😊
Dear Sweet Morgan, YOU are a sunbeam 🌞
Madwoman was not a favorite read for me. Felt like more than half of the book was redundant. I hope you enjoy it more than I did. Loved the tours of the bookstores. Thanks is for sharing ❤
This is such a great video. I love getting the book recommendations! ❤
The goose looks like Beetlegoose.... Yes... I said that.
YES!! You're SO right! It is Beetlegoose! I can't believe I didn't catch that the first time round.
you are so beautiful and that color sweater looks AMAZING on you!
I just put a hold request on Mad woman. That book looks so good.. I plan on visiting some local bookstores on my staycation.
So proud of you!!❤ such a cool video!
That was so much fun ❤
I'm literally reading Welcome to the Hyunam-Dong Bookshop right now!! Its so calming and I love it so far!!
What caught my eye was a book 📖 on the shelf while you were getting those recommendations and it is called , The last gifts of the Universe
Sounds interesting 🧐
Something about graveyards in other worlds and Scout and his cat 🐈⬛ Pumpkin going to these worlds , a search 👀 for answers , adventures along the way finding universal gifts from other worlds . As survivors they want to explore what happened to those worlds as they find themselves in an excavation journey of knowledge searching for answers! Author ✍️ Riley August
You HAVE to read The Morisaki Bookshop, SO GOOD!! I hadn't read a book that impacted/effected me in a long time like that did. I bought More Days At The Morisaki Bookshop. It's rare to find a bookshop in S.E. Mi. other than B&N 😐😑🤔 This was SOOO fun! Thanks!
📚💚🍃
Love a bookstore vlog!
Such a fun video!
oh my goodness morgan you would LOVE the mysterious benedict society!!! 🧡
You're glowing 😊🩷
Oh gosh I’m so sorry! Today went so quickly- but I’ll be sure to catch up on this later today ( so late here! ) xxxxx hope you’re well 💜💜💜
😊❤
❤️
Hello 👋 Morgan ❤🎉😊I enjoy your videos
