It will come as no surprise to anybody that I am completely knocked out by this performance. Just when i think my opinion of this 'wonder singer' Anneke can get no higher- she manages to surpass all previous records. Her sweetness of voice, control, personality, just sheer vocal genius begins to make me think - IS there anybody to rival her? Why she is is so little known outside Holland still perplexes me. As a patriotic Dutch you wont want to measure success by what happens over here ard in the States and I am totally with you on that. Its just that there are very few vocalists of her talent who are capable of delivering on a truly Global stage and too many of them are American or British (who dont have half her talent). But it AINT going to happen I know (it's too late now anyway) - so I will just enjoy the stuff you send me !!.
I am an American who is from the south central region of Pennsylvania. I first heard of Anneke from hearing this Ayreon project in 2008. Then I started listening to her solo stuff, her early years with the Gathering, and other projects like the Gental Storm and the more and more I listen to Anneke the more and more I get addicted to her voice. Her voice is like fine wine in that it gets better in time and her vocals, and her music gets so addictive. I feel like I am an Anneke drug dealer because I am trying my best to push this music on as many Americans as possible and hope that this gets addictive to many more people like myself.

Oh dear - I don't want to take issue with my good friend (and benefactor) Luntune- who knows fa rmore about Anneke than me. I can only go by he market here (and in the States). Over here - or the states few people have heard of Anneke or the Gathering. You only have to look at the TH-cam viewing figures to see the problem.. And I completely agree with you - because Ive had this discussion with others - it probably IS the way that Anneke wants it. And that is her choice.
It's a great irony - but Anneke is probably too good for the 'international market' and would probably consider it 'selling out anyway'. ... mmmm ... however I would love for her to have an 'international hit' with a truly brilliant 'original' song.(that transcends genres). NO - i didn't say I could have written it for her !! On the other hand ....mmmm
The kind of venues she played at (and it was the same for Simone) here are not good venues - the acoustics are poor and low quality and do not do either of their incredible voices justice. They both deserve MUCH better. There is nothing wrong with Anneke jooining the mainstream (she can still 'specialiser')- and become much more globally famous as long as it is with a QUALITY song that appeals to the mainstream. And that just ISN'T there (not as an original) ...>
