I restored my headlights on my 2005 BMW X5 a few years back…i used the Mothers headlight restoration kit. It came with what seemed like hundreds of different grit sanding pads, and a polishing ball. Aftet 3 hrs of sanding, i was disappointed at the results. They did look better than when i started, but nowhere near clear, or new…as promised. Fast forward…i now own a 2009 Toyota Venza, which desperately needs the headlights restored. After watching an exhausting amount of you tube videos…it came down to the Trurtle Wax Restore and Renew product. One two-sided sanding pad, a mild polishing compound, and a few packets of headlight glaze. I will admit, i was very skeptical when i started. I was not expecting the results i got….i followed the directions to a tee…in just under 1 hour (taping around the headlights included) my headlights look brand new. I can’t believe my eyes…no lie, my headlights look brand spanking new…and i didn’t kill myself with sanding either. I’d also like to add that i have carpal tunnel in both my hands, and they still came out awesome, and it didn’t take too much pressure to sand…try the turtle wax…you will be very happy you did. Seriously…try it.

Incredible difference in color between the hood and bumper. Unbelievable.

@@punkrocker1984 yes indeed it was! Personally I like sanding it with my own sandpaper starting with 3000 and see if it will take care of it - if not I'll get more aggressive as needed! Thanks for watching!

good job but definitely needed more sanding

Possibly, but it appeared there was oxidation also on the inside from halogen style bulbs that go out or pop, causes more of a reaction with UV from the sun and they can oxidize on the inside, personally I'd prefer to sand myself with 3000 to start and get more aggressive from there as needed - thanks for watching and commenting - truly appreciate it!

when ur done sanding and you are about to put on the coating is it bad if you drive the car lets say 30 min after applying? incase anything would stick to the headlight maybe?

@@Tarreee depends on what you're using for protection honestly - I'd follow the manufacturers recommendations for tome to allow for the elements ... coatings such as DIY or C6 is an hour but other manufacturers are anywhere from 2-4 hours depending on the brand. Thanks for watching!

Right off the bat you aren't following the instructions on the box...

@@lilmissrosco as oxidized as these headlights were, there was no doubt in our best experience that trying to do the compound on them first was going to be a waste of a step and time
Now, for that being said for anybody that doesn't have any experience and they don't know what kind of headlights they're dealing with. Yes, you should absolutely do that step first. Thanks for watching and your feedback!
