Looks like a great event Mark. I'm only now beginning to realise how rare those phase one Meganes are .. I think the looks are the purest and the closest to the R16 inspiration. The road-box option sounds like a great accessory for the cab. The Vel Satis was a commercial disaster that's given us a lovely idiosyncratic modern classic. Loved the Phase 1 Laguna Monaco.. never seen one in the flesh!

The phase 1 megane are indeed very rare so it was wonderful to get the coupe and Cabriolet together. The design language of the time was elliptical shapes and the face of the cars were constant with other models in the Renault Range of the late 1990's with an extension of the Laguna's beaked bonet. The Espace of that time had a straight edge rather than the central droop but the headlights bumpers and front fog lamps on all mainstream passenger cars I'm the range at by 97 had a strong similarity.
I've had the pleasure of taking a seat in that very same Vel Satis at another event last year. They certainly are a luxury car for someone who wants a different sort of alternative to the prestige German brands.
The mk1 Laguna was once a popular fleet car but becoming increasingly rare. That said even in period I had never seen a Monaco trim with the V6 (though I'd seen it in brochures).

      Thank you.
I was back there the next day filming some Mini's but I've yet to edit that one.

Fantastic Video Mark, was a great day out looking at some Renault's and great to catch up as well, I really did like that Laguna Monaco and to see it in the metal as well.

Yes the V6 Monaco was a rare treat indeed.
I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed the event having traveled such a long way down for it.
Hopefully I'll catch you there again at the Furious Driving Social.

Great Renault meet. Great to get the pics of your coupe with the cabriolet. Our old doctor had a white Alpine GT, beautiful car. Our fruit & veg shop keeper, Mr Orange, had a blue Renault 4 van like that

The R4 van was marvellous, such a shame that I was unable to track down the owner.
Getting the coupe and Cabriolet in matching Sunflower Yellow together was a highlight and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph them together.
Hope you are still enjoying the Polo and the Eunos?

Great little meet! We'll have to bring our 413k mile 1993 Renault 19 along to a meet one day for you to have a walk around 🤠.
Few vids on our channel if you were interested! 💪🏼

You know I watched two R19 videos just yesterday. One was a R19 16v chamade and the other a five door RT. Can't remember which of the two was yours but I remember your channel name.

Mine was the 5 door RT 💪🏼 Hopefully be on the road soon. 🙏🏼

Oddly enough, have a friend with a yellow F7R Mégane cabrio that had the original rear seat box you mentioned in this vid too!

@@rotboxindustries Ah yes. It was a fantastic looking car your RT.
Often it's the hot versions of cars that get saved so it's nice to see something different that is still of a good spec.
I wanted an F7R in the coupe but as they are so rare I was happy to have found a coupe at all.
