    I really struggled to remove this lamp assembly when I tried for the first time. I pulled/pushed with my index finger it as hard as I could, but it didn't move even a bit. Then I just used a flathead screwdriver and it came right off. The trick was not just to push it to the side, but pull it away from the mount surface at the same time. When you use a flathead screwdriver, GENTLY wedge the screwdriver head between the lamp assembly and the sheet-metal and pry it off. Again, a very gentle wedging is all I needed on my 11 year-old Impreza.
    Once you understand how it works, you can easily do this only with your finger by hooking onto the edge of the assembly. Getting the knack is the hard part, but when you do, it is WAAAAY easier than removing the inside panel like some people are suggesting.

    This method is difficult, if nearly impossible to get the unit out from the outside. Instead, go inside the trunk (not you, just open the trunk all the way). Pop off the 10 or so rubber rivet holding the lid cover in place. (pry up the inside part and the rivet will almost fall out). Put cover aside. You now have easy access to both bulbs housings! Twist, pull and replace like the video. Put the lid cover and rivets back starting with the ones closest to the latch and work your way down.
    Trying to pull the bulb cover out from the outside will drive you nuts.

      Idk, seems simple just sliding the housing over and popping the light out. Took 1 minute to replace the way the video showed

    I'm trying to do this, and I can't get the bulb covers to move at all. Any ideas or tips on how to loosen them?

      I’m having the same problem after an hour of trying to wedge them to the middle with my fingers

      I just stuck a flathead under the gasket and lightly pried it back and forth until it gave in. Probably due it it being the first time the gasket has moved post assembly

      This is the harder way to do it. Your better off taking the cover off from inside and unscrewing the bulbs without removing the complete assembly.

    Doesn't work on my 2016 legacy. The lenses are too big to come out of the hole. I was going to replace the whole fixture with LEDs instead of just the bulb. Now im just going to drive it off a cliff.

      You can easily remove the plastic covers on the inside of the trunk to access the bulbs that way. It’s what I had to do because the exterior covers wouldn’t budge.

    @PC-oi3dw 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I highly recommend you don’t do this. Use a trim tool to remove the clips on the inside the trunk and uncover the board.
    And remove the connectors that houses the bulb by pressing the sides. Then remove the housing like how you would with the low/high beams

    Hi I noticed you say that we’re supposed to pull the bulb out but you don’t say if it pulls straight out or twists or Hass to be unscrewed. That seems like one of the most important parts of the video not sure how that got overlooked. I guess I’ll find some other instructional video that goes into the most important detail. If you can’t replace it.

    • @YOUCANIC
      @YOUCANIC  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your feedback and keen observation. The method of removing the bulb can vary depending on the car model, so apologies if it wasn't clear in our video. Our goal at YOUCANIC is to empower individuals to conduct their own car repairs with our comprehensive guide and tools.
      We highly recommend our YOUCANIC Full System Scanner to accurately diagnose issues with modern cars which can be found at www.youcanic.com/scanner.
