I think he would have probably held it til that Fall and maybe still lost it to HTM. Steamboat was an amazing chaser of a title, but not a great champion. I think if he stays in Vince's good graces, he doesn't go to WCW in 89 and we don't get the Flair Steamboat classics in 89.
