He's selling a class so it's not a pyramid or a ponzi scheme. It's only these two(pyramid) if your not selling a product. Ponzi is lying to investors about legitimate investment then the head of the ponzi scheme uses new investments to pay existing clientele.

Thanks for the video I feel it gives a good explanation but that might just be because economics wasn't my thing. That said I have to wonder, what is the point of a Ponzi scheme? If I'm understanding it correctly there are only three ways I can see it ending for the scammer: 1) It blows up and the scammer goes to jail; 2) The scammer ends it before it blows up and pays off the last of their "investors" but that would ultimately result in the scammer losing money and thus defeating the purpose of the scam; or 3) The scammer vanishes before it blows off taking the money with them, but that would mean they would likely have to give up at least some of the perks of their lavish lifestyles to avoid raising suspicion In the end I don't see the point since the first scenario ends in prison and the other two seem to defeat the purpose of the scheme.

You're right that there would be hassles involved but still, my best guess is that the scammers assume they'll "exit" with enough money to make everything worth it.
Option 4 is to take all the money he accrued and invest in an actual profitable business, and use that profit to payoff his investors, until he ultimately phase out the scam.

I've one question @oneminuteeconomics People can get lured into ponzi schemes bcz in their view a genuine investment is going on to give them the promised returns but what may attract someone in a pyramid scheme in the first place?
So it just collapses if you can’t get new customers. You have to recruit people that successfully get new customers and trust and everyone has to trust in the system and believe it will grow. As long as it keeps growing its good. If you are willing to lose money for a while and not panic leave you are good. Noone gets scammed its just that if you can’t aquire 2 new customers or more the people above you have to pay and it continues.
Is Market America a pyramid scheme? They tried to show me how they're different but their system is kind of similar to what you just explained in this video :/
No because you can make money just selling the products without ever recruiting. Just pay for the website usage and buy wholesale and sell retail. People here don't know what they are talking about and they think any type of referral program is pyramid or ponzi. Do real research. I still have a membership in MA but I don't push as network marketing because i like selling the products and taking the product.
If you can join for free and buy wholesale and sell retail then the answer is NO. Its just as any merchant or a person with a personal business. You get products for a lesser price that you sell. Just because they added some affiliate side does not make it a pyramid scheme. If you pay to join anything and there is no product or service and it is required that you recruit to make money then that sir is a pyramid scheme.

The example I've given is an overly-simplified one. To entice people to tell others about the program, a lot of ponzi schemes have a multi-level reward system. As in Person 1 gets $500 for recruiting Person 2, gets another $200 when Person 2 recruits Person 3, gets another $50 if Person 3 recruits Person 4 and so on. Something along those lines.

+ nothing lasts The schemers take part of the money to themselves. In really big schemes, this part could be just a small percentage of the total money and yet make the schemer rich.
nothing lasts what you do is you take the money from other people and keep some for yourself then you give a little bit back.. The more people the better..but if there's not too many people than others will grow suspicious. Basically if I gave you a 1,000 dollars you might take 900 of it then promise others they'll get a 100 a month. And it keeps going. So really the scammer has to make sure they know what they're doing
No, it takes the new money to pay existing investors... but its usually just their monthly "interest" so the scammers can spend much of the rest of the money while reeling in new investors all the time... usually implodes within 4 to 8 yrs

It's not exactly 60 seconds long but gimme a break here :) I do my best to keep videos in the "1 minute and x seconds" zone, where x is preferably on the low side. For some videos, 60 seconds is enough. I even had a 54-second one. For others however, those extra seconds make the difference between a video that does a proper job explaining whatever its meant to explain and a video that leaves people scratching their heads.

Thanks for the video I feel it gives a good explanation but that might just be because economics wasn't my thing. That said I have to wonder, what is the point of a Ponzi scheme? If I'm understanding it correctly there are only three ways I can see it ending for the scammer:
1) It blows up and the scammer goes to jail;
2) The scammer ends it before it blows up and pays off the last of their "investors" but that would ultimately result in the scammer losing money and thus defeating the purpose of the scam; or
3) The scammer vanishes before it blows off taking the money with them, but that would mean they would likely have to give up at least some of the perks of their lavish lifestyles to avoid raising suspicion
In the end I don't see the point since the first scenario ends in prison and the other two seem to defeat the purpose of the scheme.

The "ideal" end result as far as the scammer is concerned is most likely a variation of #3. You're right that there would be hassles involved but still, my best guess is that the scammers assume they'll "exit" with enough money to make everything worth it.
Option 4 is to take all the money he accrued and invest in an actual profitable business, and use that profit to payoff his investors, until he ultimately phase out the scam.

So it just collapses if you can’t get new customers. You have to recruit people that successfully get new customers and trust and everyone has to trust in the system and believe it will grow. As long as it keeps growing its good. If you are willing to lose money for a while and not panic leave you are good. Noone gets scammed its just that if you can’t aquire 2 new customers or more the people above you have to pay and it continues.

The example I've given is an overly-simplified one. To entice people to tell others about the program, a lot of ponzi schemes have a multi-level reward system. As in Person 1 gets $500 for recruiting Person 2, gets another $200 when Person 2 recruits Person 3, gets another $50 if Person 3 recruits Person 4 and so on. Something along those lines.

nothing lasts what you do is you take the money from other people and keep some for yourself then you give a little bit back.. The more people the better..but if there's not too many people than others will grow suspicious. Basically if I gave you a 1,000 dollars you might take 900 of it then promise others they'll get a 100 a month. And it keeps going. So really the scammer has to make sure they know what they're doing

😊 Well, I truly love God. I am not religious but very spiritual person. So, I believe 1) Religion is the beliefs in someone experiences But spirituality is having my own experiences. The mainstream religions people promote religious ideology by giving guidelines and guide but In my spiritual life; I do not want anyone or anything between God and me to restrict my freedom to worship God. 2) We do not need any authorities to do good work. The god work is the good work always. In contrast; organised mainstream religions are claiming that they have the authorities to do God works as leaders so on. 3) God is not capable of doing wrong thing, change the past for us and create anything out of nothing for us. Nothing means not anything. So, even God is limited. The mainstream religious people believe that God is unlimited. 4) God wants us to take responsibilities for our righteousness life but not for all the consequences of our actions because they are continued to exist among us. So, How can god punish us for all our consequences? The mainstream religious people believe we are full of sins because of all our actions. 5) Freewill is an illusion. People always choose the perceived path of greatest pleasure. So, we do not have choices all the time. In contrast teachings of the mainstream religions are promoting people to do god's will always because we all have choices of freewill always. 6) We can not separate everything into groups. So, everything for good and evil and there's no success and failure for everything. If everything is real then real things can not be threatened. Once you come to understand that God/The Holy Spirit is in each of us, You will no longer need a Book to tell you how to live. Then why we need religious scriptures? The Virtue is the expression of the basic goodness in our actions. The Basic goodness is the fundamental worthiness of every individuals. We are worthy to God always in everything. 7) Beliefs in a cruel God makes a cruel man. No matter what; every living creatures has the right to live and What makes their life cheap? Everything depends on everything. Nothing too big or too small in value. We can not love and hate at the same time; Being a vegetarian means love without cruelty happily. The mainstream religious people are killing people and sacrificing animals in the name of God. They promote God's cruel punishments. The Punishment is endless for Sinners/Devil according to religious scriptures. But God is love always. Overcome hate with love. If all religions for peace, unity? No way. Because they are not for peace. 8) Well, The God gave us everything to go from moment to moment in our lives as we do our part and pray only to thank god then the Love is in progress. The Love is always for everyone. We are always worthy of the God's love. Our greatest fear is; not to be loved by anyone but we are all loved by someone. When we eliminate all our unnecessary differences among us then true peaceful life is possible with the true love. If we can't find the peace within ourselves then we will never find it anywhere else. 9) This is the Fight for independence and freedom of humanity to worship God freely without religious guide and guidelines to restrict us.
