Had one of these 15 yrs ago. DId alot of work on the farm with it everything from clearing land to packing silage in a pinch. Ours had a 4 shank ripper on the back. Never had enough traction to pull if had all four shanks in and cylinder all the way down. not to bad on fuel either.
These things struggled in virgin packed dirt. They were way better than a shovel. I ran one that had a 2-53. About the time you got the bucket nearly full it nosed over on power. 440 Deere was no different. Get on an 80 HP skid steer and do more in an hour than these things did in 4. We've come a long way but really, have we?

That pedal you are wondering about is a pedal linkage to the starter. That’s a blower too. These machines had a two stroke 2-71 Detroit in them.
