Niolox Steel is a stainless steel with almost tool steel toughness. It is a modified version of D2 Steel. Sleipner Steel is also a modified version of D2 as well. Sleipner is a tool steel resistant to chipping and improved toughness from what D2 had. Niolox is more corrosion resistant and takes an edge easier and less prone to chipping as well. You can think of Niolox and Sleipner as brothers, one being stainless and the other tougher but both sharing each other's traits a little bit. Lionsteel uses both of these Steels so I felt it was relevant to mention Slepner which is also in the D2 family.

Thanks Caleb! Really cool knife. Love that it’s an Italian company 🇮🇹

This one has a very special feel to it. Italians make some pretty snazzy knives. . .

Hey bro! Don’t know much about niolox myself but it’s stainless which is almost needed in NZ as it does rain a lot here and I can put a great edge on it using my worksharp field sharpener. Loving my kydex sheath, If you’ve got this knife definitely email this man about a kydex sheath, you won’t be disappointed.

It’s funny I got a Lion Steel T5 for Christmas from my friend and I wanted to send it in to 5min knives for review but I figured with so much good content it probably wouldn’t make the cut lol! And now here it is just a different color.

greetings from one of your Australian Viewers.
i got one of these T5's last year as well, much like Caleb i found i need Stainless here In the land downunder. most of the places i would be adventuring are either constantly wet , salty or both.
While i like the quality of the leather sheath, I have been thinking about getting Kydex for mine too... now even more so.
regarding the Niolox Steel - it's similar to sleipnir and D2. only with better edge retention, corrosion resistance and toughness. mine came crazy sharp out of the box too.

Niolox is a tool steel similar to d2 or sliepner, with a finer grain and rust resistance ( I got that from A.G.Russell). Nice knife!

I have a Fox Ryu in Nylox and it is by far my favorite .I would have no issues dispatching a Uruk Hai with it ! I will be reaching out to you for my sheaths for my early Cold Steel TaiPan and Magnum Tanto IX. Keep up the great work !

Looking forward to it! My press currently only can accommodate blades up to 10"... Just a heads up depending on which Magnum tanto you have...

I'm pretty sure it's the Magnum IX but I'll have to double check.@@5MinuteKnives

Just ordered one. The black as they advertise must actually be stonewash/black.. I have a Bastinelli SAFE made by LionSteel. It's a work of art.

The recessed area on the top of the blade where you put your thumb is to provide an area to strike a fire steel

It's coated and not really sharp though, so I'm not sure how well that'd even work. I'll give it a shot and letcha know. 👍
