Thanks! Kelsey needs to know we love her as a person as player!!! ❤❤ thanks mick for posting this! her and cc together was beautiful! Kelsey deserves this shine now let’s get grace playing
I clearly remember that Kelly Krauskopf video clip from her first interview after taking over as President of the Fever. That is OLD news! She already made it clear the Fever WILL core Kelsey Mitchell. As a cored player getting a super max contract, Kelsey won't be able to get a better deal financially. Clearly, there is no issue with the chemistry of the team or her relationships with her Fever teammates. The ONLY reasons I could see for Kelsey wanting to make a change is because she feels that she needs a change of scenery or because her personality is not a good fit for all the hype and the circus of attention surrounding Caitlin Clark. She may also be tired of sitting in interviews where Clark gets asked ALL the questions, and she feels invisible.
I hope Kelsey stays with the Fever.
KM stated that playing on the same team as CC was emotionally taxing and “such a challenge”. If she is cored, she wants to leave. Surround CC with 3pt shooters that can also pass and the team is better. As well as increasing CC ‘s scoring. Drafting a good Big makes your D magnitudes better and the team might actually get some offensive rebounds.
Pretty sure she said referring to CC "I'll always be in your back court"".
She did! It gives me hope she'll choose to stay.
Mick, if a player is cored and traded, they aren’t counted as a cored player on the team they go to.
Like, duh. 😂😂😂😂
Yes they are. The core designation follows the player to the team they are traded to and is considered a core contract. The only way around this is a S+D (sign and trade deal.)
@@catherinedickerson9236 Is there anything stopping teams from swapping their cored players?
@@christopherkohl6511 No because they couldn’t technically swap because a cored player cannot contract directly with another team. They could each do a sign and trade with their respective teams if everyone could come to terms.
If KM is cored, trade her. Make your #1 #2 priority signing Meesseman and Salaun . Mick’s idea of acquiring AA is spot on. Draft 6’ 7” Prince and stash Sitka at #8. This may be the last chance in a decade to draft a Big that can run, play D and shoot for the Fever.
Get the vibes that Kelsey Mitchell wants to move on. This is not about negotiating tactics to get the max dollar contract. The Fever have said they are willing to pay her. For her own reasons, Kelsey might want a change of scenery in a new city and team.
I think they can core Kelsey and get satou in a trade even if satou was cored by Dallas. That wouldn’t count as a cored player by Indiana. The tough situation would come the year after if they had both and had to choose who to core and who could leave
Disagree. She's a great player but Indiana needs to keep it's picks and not be flatfooted like last season before the playoffs. The new cap is only going to add around 100k. Satou is great but has missed more than 50% of her WNBA career from injury. Waive Smith to lose her cap space, her contract goes with her
@@NerdlesslyWhere is it mentioned the Fever lose picks? The poster simply says trade one cored player for the other. Why is this so hard to understand for u clowns?
Btw this makes the most sense to me, easy peezy solution to a problem. Mitchell wants out of Indy, Satou wants out of Dallas. Trade one for the other, and at the end of 2025 evaluate how it turned out, and make a decision from there on long term plans.
Where in the rules do you see that if they core satuo she can be traded to the fever because we have cored Kelsey. A team can only core one player but that dose not mean they can’t have two player that are cored if anther team cored and traded them.
Bingo! I think Mick is just grasping at any straw for an excuse to block a Satou trade to the Fever
Because you take on the core contract as part of the trade. You have to keep the super max contract and you can’t have more than one core player on one team.
@@83541 From what i can tell, there is no rule against trading for a core player if you have one. The only language in the CBA specifically references USING the core designation, nothing about trading for a cored player.
@@83541 Wrong
@ do you think if you just say something in automatically makes it true?
Only way she’s the #1 priority is if Sabally has already declined to play for the Fever. If Sabally plays for the Fever, Mitchell will be with another team. They won’t both be with the Fever.
Alot of people seem to think Smith + picks gets Satou. Wings won't do it unless they're tanking and trading away their #1 pick for future picks. Which also means no Paige and angry fans who already bought season tickets
I will simply say when people show you who they are believe them! It’s really that simple for me nothing is hidden if you are paying attention. When it comes to Kelsey Mitchell’s FA here are my observations:
1. She has stated multiple times that she is looking forward to being a FA. FYI the same language used by another star player & UFA cored player Satou that has requested a trade🤔
2. She spoke about her current team in the past tense or separate from herself ( Indy Allstar game quotes)
3. KM appeared annoyed did not want to participate at joint post game press conferences with CC especially early in the 1st half of the season but I acknowledge a change was made to appear more happy in the 2nd half the season but still had moments. This showed negative emotions towards playing with CC.
4. On court play looking off CC & refusing to pass her the ball when she called for it. Really bad early in the season but some minor changes in the 2nd half of the season but still apparent. This again shows some personal negative emotions about playing with CC.
5. She writes articles expressing her feeling of appreciation & also discomfort with new Fever fanbase.
6. She refuses to commit to playing next season in Indy when there’s no reason not to because she’s locked into a cored players max contract that will not change for any reason. So, unless she wants to leave & prefers to keep it behind close doors as long as possible to avoid PR blow back from CC’s fanbase. There’s no reason not to commit to playing next year in Indy IMO if that’s hee desire 🤷♂️.
7. Finally, Fever management expressing their undying love to have KM back publicly & stating no matter what they are coring her. This sounds like a preemptive PR campaign preparing the fan base for a trade with the excuse it’s not us we wanted her back IMO
My conclusion is this clearly shows she wants a trade & that’s what I expect & she will not be back next year. This doesn’t make my opinion correct it’s just how I read the room paying attention to every detail proved to try & understand what is possibly coming. Can she stay? Of course, it will just make all of her past behavior I listed very questionable for someone who wanted to stay but we will shall see.
I don't really agree with the information.
Caitlin and Kelsey are cool and they've been on the same page for a while now. Even when she was injured, Kelsey was trying to figure out how to play with the team they had.
It was an issue on chemistry, which was more related to the coaching disciplines than the players liking or disliking each other. I don't believe that KM and CC hate or dislike one another--or feel that they have any animosity towards one another.
KM is simply using her FA rights and working on her game in China. The league she's playing for has her team first in their group. They're like 3rd or 4th best team in the entire China league. Kelsey is playing with Ododa and averaging solid numbers of 22 PPG and like 5 APG. If she was hoping to leave to another team, then she'd definitely have gone about it differently.
Judging by her improvements, she's averaging more steals and such and seemingly working on her ability to finish and passing. Those are improvements for the team she'll play with next year.
She ranks second in the entire league for PPG (Chennedy Carter is number 1) and 6th in APG (Carter is second also) which helps the team that she'll play with when she goes back to the WNBA. It is basically fine for her since she's playing the same (shooting worse from 3 since she doesn't have a Caitlin Clark on her team taking the best defender every night) but with better APG and less turnovers.
I fully expect her to join the Fever next year.
You’re pretty much spot on.
The first 3/4 of the season she pretty much was playing as if she was trying to convince her teammates, coaches, fans, and the entire Fever organization that she was just as good - or better - than Caitlin.
I sensed some resentment and probably some jealousy of Clark’s attention, and seemed to be playing against Caitlin more than she played against the opponent. Im convinced she bobbled or purposely dropped some passes that Clark threw her throughout season. She got better towards the end of the season, seemingly realizing (finally) that it’s easier to play WITH Clark than against her. She still reverted back to who she is at times, specifically in the final moments of the last playoff game.
With Clark in your backcourt, you really don’t need a “great” 2-guard. Just one that is a competent/capable catch-and-shoot MAKER (anyone can shoot).
They don’t need a 2 that needs a ton of dribbles and needs to create shots for herself.
Bottom line, Mitchell is expendable - especially if they get Satou.
Exactly! All she does is score. Provides nothing else. She takes the ball out of CC hands. Get rid of her and get a defensive minded 2 and CC points go up to over 25ppg and the team d is better
She's also been with the Fever for years and years and years. She might want to see what else is out there at this point.
@@darksteel78 Lol There’s only 12 teams… you already KNOW whats out there 😂
I definitely think Kelsey wants a fresh start. She’s given 7 years to Indiana. If the Fever end up coring her after she’s expressed she wants to test free agency that’s 💯 a tell tale sign she’s out the door
No, it means the Fever are smart enough to know that even if she does want to leave, then they can still get something of value in return instead of letting her go potentially for nothing. I'd do the same thing if I was the Fever.
@@thewolfofwallstreet627the Fever would be loosing the trust of their major star. Yes they’d get something in return but they’d also loose out on Kelsey and gain a bad reputation.
@tiffyco2378 how would they gain a bad reputation? It's a smart business move by the Fever. That would be like if you chose to cut cost while running a business, and everyone said you had a bad reputation merely for not wanting to spend more than you can afford. Also, you're making Kelsey sound like an immature prima dona who gets easily offended. She's not a little girl. She knows how the wnba business works. If Kelsey wants to go, then she will go regardless if she's cored or not. At least with the Fever coring her, it guarantees they'll get something regardless.
You can only core one player but you can trade for a core player even if you already have a cored player according to CBS: "Speaking of trades, teams are allowed to trade for another team's core player even if they already have their own core player on the roster, though those situations arise rarely." CBSSports Dec. 27, 2024
Kelsey if you’re reading this, the Fever need you to win this championship!
Speculation is all we have. We're just going to have to wait and see.😊
I've said it before, I'd rather have Kelsey with the Fever but if she wants to go then I think Kelly Krauskoph would try to find a good place for her. Here's a trade idea I find interesting. Trade Kelsey to the Valkaries for Temi and next years 1st round pick. It's the perfect place for someone, like Kelsey who likes to lead and can mentor young talent. Then the Fever can bring Kesley Plum in as a free agent. This doesn't mean they can't go after Satou if they can make a deal. If Satou takes the 4 spot Samuelson will be her primary backup but I think Temi might be able to help there too. She is listed as a center so she'll be good for rotating in for Boston. If there is no Satou then they will work on the 4 spot from the other free agents and the draft. I'm not as big on Satou as everyone else seems to be. She's a high risk for a one year rental. In 2023 she played 38 games. In the other 4 games she never made it past 17 games (16, 17, 11, 15) and she's playing 10 games already for Unrivaled. I really don't want to lose good assets in a risky move like that. The Fever will keep Grace as a backup for Clark too. After that everything is just filling the bench with people they won't mind losing to next year's expansion draft. I think that the fever should consider trading thier 8 and 20 draft positions for higher positions in 2026 and/or 2027. Next year has a really good draft class but I'm looking at Flau'Jae Johnson for 2027.
after watching the Fever....they should keep that Duo of Kelsey and CC
I’d do a Kelsey swap if that’s what the players want. It’s no good keeping a player that doesn’t want to be there and have an EDD situation.
Why has she been so quiet on her desire to stay with the Fever? Is there something there that makes her reluctant to stay? I don't understand all the delay, secrecy and silence from Kelsey. Why would she be unhappy on the Fever? She just had a great season playing with Caitlin. What is really going on here?
I hope Kelsey stays: she and Caitlin are magic together. However, I think she's going to leave. I think as much as Kelsey got her flowers this season, she was still under-appreciated in a big way. The fact that she didn't make the WNBA All-Second Team (at least) after the incredible second half of the season she had, was bizarre. Maybe she's thinking of going somewhere where she can be THE franchise player. Either way, I think she's sensational and any team would be lucky to have her. If she doesn't stay with the Fever, though, she should go to a team with a great coach, like Las Vegas, for example. But hope she stays with the Fever. I don't see anyone playing at the 2 with Caitlin as well as Kelsey.
Defensively the team was terrible with the CC/Mitchell backcourt. The best fit for CC is a defensive lockdown guard who can still put up 15 a game. AKA a player like Ariel Atkins who averaged 15 ppg (only 3 off KM's avg) but also played stellar D. Who btw also averages better rebounds and assists by a longshot. And if she had the offensive freedom that Clark would give her you know that scoring average would go up significantly. Truthfully I'd feel much more comfortable paying Atkins max money than Kelsey Mitchell for the much better all around game she can bring a team.
Kelsey has barely gotten any accolades or recognition in 7 years in the league. This past season was her best in every aspect. She has not been a positive impact player or w inning player, even going back to ohio State. She is one of those score only bucket getters that doesn't do anyting else to benefit a team. She is a good compliment to Clark as an off ball scorer, but she is absolutely replacable and it might make the team even better.
A team can HAVE to cored players, they just cannot CORE two players - meaning they can core a player and still trade for another cored player - The Wings did a similar transaction to trade Skylar Diggins-Smith to the Mercury in 2020 - Diggins-Smith was cored by Dallas and traded to Phoenix, which had already cored Brittney Griner. Because Diggins-Smith was not specifically cored by Phoenix, the Mercury could have both players on those contracts.
Your wrong you can core a player on your roster and trade for a cored player From another team . So what you said about knowing whether Satou is going to NY or fever soon because of the core designation is false
Mick is right. The core designation follows the player. The way around this is a sign and trade deal. That’s how Phoenix got SDS from Dallas when they had cored Griner. Dallas did a sign and trade deal. When SDS then went to Phoenix she did not go as a cored player. Therefore Phoenix had only one cored player and that was Griner.
WE LOVE YOU KELSEY PLEASE STAY WITH US. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Opps, I just found out that Kelsey Plum got cored. That screws up one of my free agent options.
I don't think you are correct about the Core designation. It's a function of the team and not the player. Sabbly has not been cored by the Fever, so having Sabbly and Mitchel would only be one Cored player by the Fever.
She’s expendable
I wouldn't trade KM for SS.
What about for Plum?
@@jodieicher9592 Nope, I would rather keep KM.
If she learns to play with the team and all the young players improve. They are a top team even if they get no one else.
I'd bring in a top big coach. There is so much the WNBA doesn't do. They can be among the top in rebounds just by learning to box out, body on body, jump and catch rebound at peak.... CC I think will improve 3 pt % and should get more points from free throws unless the officials and league do what they did last year. If that happens, it doesn't matter what they do the WNBA will make sure the Fever won't win. I'd also like to see the leaders push the old Bulls mindset... They knew they would win every night, you lose a few but thinking you will win every game is an advantage.
I'm over trying to get Satou. Would have to give up too many assets for maybe a one year deal? I think new york will be too much to pass up for sabally, family and old team mates, market and already a champ team. She's already gaining name recognition from being "clark adjacent" just from the off season trade buzz. Fever either draft well with Malonga or Morrow or go overseas. AND DEVELOP THE DAMN BENCH.
Satou's not coming to the Fever, mark it
✅
why does coring kelsey mitchell mean satou is not coming to the fever?
It doesn’t he’s wrong not understanding how the core System works
@@IsaiahAbbett-t2fI've been saying this for the past year. It's like some kind of goofy mental block that ppl have about this core designation.
Okay, I admit I don't know all the rules but isn't a cored player given a max contract and a team can only have one max contract?
Kelsey needs a fresh start. She knows that’ and will probably end up in Atlanta or Chicago ..
If she wants to leave, they will core her and trade her. I doubt the fever would send her to Chicago.
No way in 2025 will someone choose to stop being a superstar on a team with Caitlin Clark
KM loves Arike…. So if she wants to leave and Satou wants Indy sadly that may happen. Dallas doesn’t need her especially if taking Paige.
@@ransom6892 Ego leads to a lot of bad decisions.
@@kylewarren8065Please allow this to be true, KM and Arike together with Olivia Miles playing the 3 could be fun to watch. The 3 headed mighty mouse team of shot chuckers.

Krauskoph’s
hire interview
MItchell is playing this correctly. SHe talks about testing the waters but why would she want to go any places else as she is playing next to CC. She gets a one year max contract. She can possibly have the best year of her carrer in ppg, possibly when a championship then in 2026 with a new CBA command a top contract from anyone she wants. If she leaves this year unless she goes to a top team other teams will put their best defender on her and she could have a down year going into 2026.
Ego. She wants to b the star not part of one
Kelsey all the way
Kelsey is going to stay. She will make more in Indy and she fits well with the team.
She's Erica Wheeler 2.0 all over again. What's the old saying? Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Bro how is she still dragging this???
Free agency hasn’t started yet. It starts tomorrow (Saturday)
Not going to happen. They'll trade her for Leonie Fiebich and then draft Morrow, Sivka, and Miles, and 3 other players with all the picks and stuff they get from trading her away.
Satally will veto this trade. I think she's going to demand Indiana or nothing. She already said she's like to play with Nyarra in the future which one can infer means "not this year"
@@christopherkohl6511Satou wants a championship this year. She said as much last year during NY finals round. Her going to the Liberty is the worst kept secret

@@_M.... fever was in a rebuild starting with Kelsey. Got a lil better with Boston. They was still missing a pg. Caitlin was the last piece they needed to compete. With or without Caitlin, a good pg would have gotten them to the playoffs
