Artist vs. Producer: Who Owns The Masters?

Ideally the artist is going to want to own the master recording 100%. That can only happen if the producer signs a work for hire agreement transferring their copyright interest to the artist. Participation in the income is fine but 100% ownership for the artist only comes with a written agreement transferring copyrights.
