Hey, Todd. What an interesting place! Thank you for the tour. Wish we could have learned more about the horses that pulled the old steam pumper truck.. They must have been very special, to be able to pull the apparatus through the streets quickly, then remain calm and steady in a place where there was fire, smoke, and frightening noise. Not something that came naturally to horses. I lived across the street from a firehouse when I was a little girl in Brooklyn, NY. They certainly had a pole there and the firefighters slid down it. They also had a Dalmatian dog that was the fire company's mascot.
