I actually have a very simple one: Running/sprinting everywhere. If you saw someone dressed normally just sprinting between every single shop, or up and down the street, you'd probably be a bit on edge.
I've actually considered doing that - save transit time and what not. It's just...so much more tiring in real life. Imagine if sprinting in a game made you tired for real, or getting hit actually hurt. I'd probably mysteriously spend more time admiring the scenery...or playing puzzle games.
Playing Dragon Age Inquisition and finding out there's no fall damage in Skyhold. I never walked or casually jumped down again- don't mind me, just jumping from the top tower down onto my bald elf's desk. 😅
Another one that is done quite frequently is: Talking to EVERYONE. Just to see if they have a quest or are just flavour NPCs. God forbid there's a party event, it's going to take an hour to get through them all!
To go along with the "wearing the best armor" entry, how about the way we just change our clothes out in the open in games? Imagine carrying around your entire wardrobe with you all the time and removing/putting on clothing whenever you feel like it, wherever you happen to be.
Or because you are playing an rpg with a "level up skills by doing the activity" system, so you constantly bounce around like a rubber ball because you want to max out your athletics.
I've just realised the jumping habit in games comes from the lack of stepping ability. Those ankle-high walls and ledges would be fine in reality, but in games the only way I can gain any vertical movement is by lifting my entire body off the ground and hoping there's not a much higher, much more invisible wall above the tiny wall I can see.
@@darcieclements4880 Think that mostly came about because of older video games where it actually *was* faster, like I think BG: Dark Alliance 1 this is true?

On the topic of stealth my favourite thing to do in Oblivion was become the Arch Mage then use Grand Soul Gems to enchant 5 pieces of clothing/jewellery with 20% chameleon each, you then don't even need to sneak because you're basically invisible, I would stand in front of NPCs not sneaking and they would be oblivious to my presence. Great times
Fast Travel, you're in one place then are instantly in another place. Your party must be freaking out by space and time breaking. And the NPCs are confused because you weren't there before. Can't forget when you glitch the game when speed running. As you run into a wall and phase through it. The NPCs will think what you're doing looks ridiculous, but also will be terrified seeing you go through the wall.
Subverted in Skyrim, wherein it will be a different time of day if you fast-travel somewhere, and potions on a time limit which increase your carrying capacity will have worn off during the “instant” travel because it wasn’t *actually* instant travel
In Dark Souls there's a vase that I smash every time I go by it, even though I know there's nothing in it. It's right by Firelink, so I go by it a lot, too (at the bottom of the stairs, just before the lift that brings you to New Londo). It seems almost personal at this point.
It is personal. They're putting that vase there just to taunt you now. "go on.. try again.. maybe This time it'll actually have something in. You Know you want to check and find out... "
10:00 I've put together a tool vest that I consider my inventory, when I'm doing things around the house (topped off with safety goggles and a headlamp) - it's got calipers, pliers, a sharpie, a knife, etc. It's not quite as good as a real inventory, and I have to manage its contents SCRUPULOUSLY, but it is LOVELY to have.
I seem to remember that, in Oblivion, if you just jumped while you were traveling, then you'd gain jumping experience points toward leveling up. Does that sound right?
Yep- Morrowind too. It was a nice way to get a multiplier on level-up for your Agility stat if you just bounced everywhere to level up Acrobatics. Starting a new character who ran slowly and couldn't jump as high as you were used to always felt weird :p
oh yeah, you just reminded me. In Cyberpunk I use my dash and double jump to traverse the city. It's fun when it feels like Mirrors Edge, but also it gets your Shinobi skill up. I like that, I like that a lot.
Swim in a fountain, run/walk into a wall, jump into a wall, swing a weapon... level up all of these while afk with items rigged on your mouse buttons lol
Just the thought of Rob/the rest of the Access team sifting through footage to find characters jumping or, better yet, purposefully setting up game after game just to jump is wonderful.

Oh, I have one: Whenever the NPCs see a mob of enemies chasing the MC for nth time after the MC foolishly had to step into an area that's above their skill, run into their village/city just to de-aggro them.
That would actually look less weird in real life - if someone chases you with the intention to beat you up or kill you, running towards a crowded area where you might get help or the attacker might not follow you because they wouldn't want to do it in front of witnesses is often a good idea. Though I guess it would look very weird if you then turned around to follow the killer and try if you can beat him and then run back to the crowded area a second time.
I sometimes imagine playing a tabletop RPG character as if they were in a video game. Particularly breaking all containers in search of random loot, or smashing slightly discolored walls out of certainty that they lead to secret rooms.
Someone else brought up changing your clothes anywhere (which never crossed my mind until I saw that comment). I do have a few of my own: 1: preforming a hard save right after an auto save and/or spamming the save button 2: walking on tables (especially when at least one other person (NPC or player character) is eating at said table) 3: entering other people’s homes uninvited period (a lot of video games, including RPGs, have it programmed into them by the developers)
Multi saving. Not doing it has never screwed me over in the past or traumatized me. Nor do I have ADHD or similar. But I always find myself saving... and then immediately after questioning if I saved or not, and do it again, before quiting the game.

Not to mention the endless possibilities of stealing everything by simply putting a basket or cardboard box over the victim's head. Falls under the excessive jumping category, but sprinting everywhere. It’s ridiculous as a concept enough when you have a stamina bar/sprint meter, but the ridiculousness gets cranked to 11 when there is no stamina drain or bar for sprinting. The residents of Kamuro-cho must think Kiryu is a madman in a hurry when they see him running through the streets at full sprint, only to pause to catch his breath, after leaving the beef bowl shop to go to the batting cages.

Not at all weird. I commented on this in my post as well as his #1 being jumping too much is something I never do. If I have to jump for whatever the game requires I do so. Otherwise just running around for the most part.
One ironic thing about jumping in Guild Wars 2 is that, if you start jumping, the others will soon follow your example and jump as well. Indeed, it's an unspoken rule to do exactly that.
FF7 had a kid who if you stole his money from his hiding place locked you out of something later on. FF 12 had some jars which if you smashed for loot locked you out of a secret overpowered weapon. Take that, Lootgoblin69.
I jump fairly frequently in real life. Clearing puddles, taking back road short cuts, scaring children, and other assorted tasks that I know make me appear ridiculous, but I'm also really efficient time wise.
The wiggly wiggly (you all know exactly what i mean) when you are waiting for something to happen or waiting for another character (PC or NPC) to catch up or finish what they are doing.Just mashing A D A D A D A D to jiggle your toon back and forth as a sign of 'cmon, hurry the hell up, i got places to be'.
I've read a couple of books written from the viewpoint of an NPC which shows their reaction to player characters going through all their stuff and smashing open their boxes and barrels. PC adventurers are NOT well regarded in those books - as thieving, impolite murder munchkins. Didn't Chrono Trigger have a bit where you're judged in court in part on the basis of your behaviour in the starting town?
If there are random times I need to be sneaky I crouch walk as much as possible. Also in Nancy Drew games when you’ve run out of dialogue options but you’re frustrated and can’t think of what to do next so you just talk to everyone with the classic “how can I help you Nancy?””It’s been great talking to you”
Or "Catch ya later", and calling Bess/Marvin, Frank/Joe, Ned, and Dad/Hannah for ANY info as well as any extra contact just to find out that you just needed to hover the mouse JUST right to get a different arrow or play a mini game a certain way. 😅😭
Also a trainer and, yeah, it’s actually bizarre to those of us who’ve stayed athletic throughout our lives just how unathletic average people can be. You especially notice it on those “funny fails” videos.
@@sonofwotan Heh, I've gotten rather out of shape over the past 15 years, but I did enough _before_ that to just shake my head in disbelief at pretty much all the falls in those "funny fails" videos... Also, I paid _some_ attention in physics class, which helps quite a lot in that regard, too 🤣
I’ve become more discerning these days when I play a Bethesda game. I only grab weapons or armour that is worth over 100. No more pots, pans or items of low worth unless it’s something I need for crafting/customising.
3:05 seriously aggrevates me. Start a game and i go looking for the jump button. Flat floor and you literally can not walk over it without getting stuck. Jump. Getting stuck, jump and roll.
The jumping urge is so strong we even do it in shooters, where it's objectively a bad thing to do as it's easy to predict your movement in a jump arc. 😂
They actually make fun of tailing too closely in Assassin's Creed Black Flag when Stede Bonnet tries to follow somebody and ends up crouched right behind them while still calling things out to you loudly. Naturally he gets spotted and is forced to run away. :)
In most games then your character is seen as always winning and doing “the right thing” because of the save system. An npc could be with you see something completely new and then you, the player, just “effortlessly” beat it. Or as a big bad in something like Resident evil, turning into some giant monster as a last ditch effort and they just dodge all of the attacks not even you knew where going to hit.
Gotta say, the jumping for no reason is something I do sometimes in real life, because of ADHD. Maybe that’s what’s happening to all our video game protagonists XD. They’re not weird, they’re just suffering from a really severe case of ADHD!

Reasonable people like you and me, speak for yourself Rob
Did anyone else jump for the fourth time during their adult life while watching this video?
Fine use of the Dave this week
I jump fairly frequently in real life. Clearing puddles, taking back road short cuts, scaring children, and other assorted tasks that I know make me appear ridiculous, but I'm also really efficient time wise.
FF7 REBIRTH main crime is not allowing us to jump. They better add this function in Part 3! I want to jump, climb, dive and swim underwater!
God Of War too. Not being able to jump made the game feel a bit clunkier.
I managed to jump to places normally unreachable in WoW before flying came about in Azeroth. Can't help it.
Even if it took 20 minutes to climb or 5 to go around lol
The wiggly wiggly (you all know exactly what i mean) when you are waiting for something to happen or waiting for another character (PC or NPC) to catch up or finish what they are doing.Just mashing A D A D A D A D to jiggle your toon back and forth as a sign of 'cmon, hurry the hell up, i got places to be'.
With the eating thing, I like to think my character quickly jumps out of the fight to eat something. Then they head back in when I exit the menu
As a personal trainer I can confirm, most people never jump and are quite bad at it.
Also, I paid _some_ attention in physics class, which helps quite a lot in that regard, too 🤣
I freaking love Friday features 🤩
I’ve become more discerning these days when I play a Bethesda game. I only grab weapons or armour that is worth over 100. No more pots, pans or items of low worth unless it’s something I need for crafting/customising.
Wish I could learn that skill lol
3:05 seriously aggrevates me. Start a game and i go looking for the jump button. Flat floor and you literally can not walk over it without getting stuck. Jump. Getting stuck, jump and roll.
Doing whatever obscure task for an achievement that no one but other achievement tarts will be impressed by.
I always feel the NPCs in my party are judging me when I get lost and wander around aimlessly.😂
I still want Astro Bot to have a Rob and playstation access people as an bot in that game.
This one is going to be great. Also probably going to feel like a personal attack
Why I love The Bard's Tale- not only the dry humour and voice talent of Cary Elwes and Tony Jay
You've caught my watching the video just a minute after it was posted. 😁 Thanks Rob.
I’m obsessed with loot. I have to have the best 😂
Team looks over stats here. I will always look cool over being powerful 😂
Fashionsouls all the way
Same
In most games then your character is seen as always winning and doing “the right thing” because of the save system. An npc could be with you see something completely new and then you, the player, just “effortlessly” beat it. Or as a big bad in something like Resident evil, turning into some giant monster as a last ditch effort and they just dodge all of the attacks not even you knew where going to hit.
A classic: Leaning irl into the racing games turns
He said "jumping" so many times, im no longer convinced jumping is a real word. It sounds off. Juuuuuumping. Jumping. Jummpppppiiiiing.
Jumping in Oblivion is kinda necessary to quickly raise the acrobatic skill
Gotta say, the jumping for no reason is something I do sometimes in real life, because of ADHD. Maybe that’s what’s happening to all our video game protagonists XD. They’re not weird, they’re just suffering from a really severe case of ADHD!
Well this has just been one of my favorite Friday features! Thanks Rob, I really enjoyed it!
So glad this channel and robs FF is still here! Always was my Friday highlight!
