I've just realised the jumping habit in games comes from the lack of stepping ability. Those ankle-high walls and ledges would be fine in reality, but in games the only way I can gain any vertical movement is by lifting my entire body off the ground and hoping there's not a much higher, much more invisible wall above the tiny wall I can see.

Fast Travel, you're in one place then are instantly in another place. Your party must be freaking out by space and time breaking. And the NPCs are confused because you weren't there before.
Can't forget when you glitch the game when speed running. As you run into a wall and phase through it. The NPCs will think what you're doing looks ridiculous, but also will be terrified seeing you go through the wall.

That would actually look less weird in real life - if someone chases you with the intention to beat you up or kill you, running towards a crowded area where you might get help or the attacker might not follow you because they wouldn't want to do it in front of witnesses is often a good idea. Though I guess it would look very weird if you then turned around to follow the killer and try if you can beat him and then run back to the crowded area a second time.

It's worth noting that being shorter makes one a little bit more athletic and the active jumping easier too. I miss when I was a child and small enough to jump freely.

Another no go in real life is trying every herb or mushroom you find in the woods to see what exactly will happen.

Falls under the excessive jumping category, but sprinting everywhere. It’s ridiculous as a concept enough when you have a stamina bar/sprint meter, but the ridiculousness gets cranked to 11 when there is no stamina drain or bar for sprinting. The residents of Kamuro-cho must think Kiryu is a madman in a hurry when they see him running through the streets at full sprint, only to pause to catch his breath, after leaving the beef bowl shop to go to the batting cages.

In most games then your character is seen as always winning and doing “the right thing” because of the save system. An npc could be with you see something completely new and then you, the player, just “effortlessly” beat it. Or as a big bad in something like Resident evil, turning into some giant monster as a last ditch effort and they just dodge all of the attacks not even you knew where going to hit.
