    I imagine lots of TH-cam people would have edited out all the mishaps and oops's. I appreciated the realistic portrayal of an 'adventure'. 😊🇨🇦 Your attitude was great.

    Quick tip for keeping your fingers dry: Call at a petrol station and pick up a pair of plastic gloves from near the diesel pump. Put them on an then put your gloves on over the top a carrier bag for each foot inside your boots works too.

    You look well in the alpinestars leathers ! keep up the good work because it really is an honest reflection of how things pan out.
    Just done Ireland Belfast - cork - Killarney - dingle - Galway - Sligo - Back to Belfast then on to Dumfries before returning to Yorkshire 1600 miles.
    The dingle peninsula was something else.

    I love watching motorcycle touring around England and Scotland. You are very courageous lady taking your first solo trip for 800 miles, you learned a lot about yourself and how handle adversities. Congratulations. 2 tips for rainy weather carry large plastic bags to put on your feet inside your boots keep your feet dry. 2. pack 2 large towels to soak up as much moisture as possible from the inside your boots
    Have fun on your future trips.

    Great little adventure. Whenever you get out of your comfort zone and do something new, you'll make mistakes. It's how we grow. And navigating without a sat nav is a skill that so many don't have.

    Hey! I found your channel today and had to subscribe! This is the second video I had watched of yours and I just love your personality. I love that you show your “mistakes” along with everything else. It makes the video so much more relatable/real for me. I have been riding for almost five years and plan to take my first solo motorcycle camping trip in 2022. Thanks for making quality content for all the female motorcyclists like me, and everyone else! ✌🏻

    I was thinking that yes lots of things have changed in the almost 40 yrs since my first big trip, but the rookie errors are still much the same as the ones I made all those yrs ago.

    Amazing nowadays with our phones and sat nav we never get lost .As a 50 yr old biker I used maps all my biking life until the last 7 or 8 yrs when I gave up using a road maps and went for the ease of the electronics. And sometimes I would love to go back to the maps it seemed more exciting. Great ride thanks.

    Being a bit old, I forget how people don't know how to navigate without a sat nav or a phone. It really is pretty easy. On the map is a scale which shows you how many miles per cm (or inch in my day). Use that to work out what distance you want to do and pick the nearest town. Try to remember three places (or road numbers) en route and keep an eye out for signs. If you do get lost you've a much smaller area to search.

    I’ve just watched this, although I appreciate it’s been online a while now. It’s great to see someone being honest about the trials and tribulations of a solo trip like this. We all make silly little mistakes every now and then, so it made me smile to know it’s not just me!
    I had the pleasure of living in Scotland for nearly a decade, and miss those roads dearly.
    Solo touring is an amazing thing to do, although I have a real anxiety whenever I don’t have eyes on my bike; whether it’s a quick wee stop or an overnighter.
    If you’ve not toured abroad, I can recommend it. My parents live in the south of Spain, so I do an annual ride down there and back from Kent, through France. It’s amazing!
    Anyway, thanks for the video. I’ll have a look at what else you’ve got on the channel 👍

    You still have to learn some things. but a nice review of your trip. When I travel I separate my clothing in plastic bags. That way they don't get wet and smelly. Boots are rarely waterproof, take several pairs of gloves with you. By over-boots and over-mittens for the rain., it's not that expensive. There are neck-collars for the rain and other things. Yes all the clothing for riding a bike ads up but when you buy good quality it has a long live. I am riding for more than 50 years and I just ordered my fifth pairs of boots and I am using my fifth helmet a Shoei Neotec II, expensive yes but very good. Previous one was a Shubert Concept, used 10 years. It's only my fourth winter jacket and fourth trousers (2 winter and 2 summer) I have 10 pairs of gloves from very light for warm weather to very cold. Yes in winter when the roads are dry you can drive very well, so minus 10 or more is no problem.

    800 miles for your first solo trip is good going 👍. You could do with a little more help from a more experienced rider just to finesse things. Get yourself some good waterproof boots and gloves, I know they are expensive but if they keep you warm and dry 😁 worth every penny. Looking forward to your next trip.

      @SaffySprocket  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My first solo trip was also my first trip ahahah :D and honestly, I don't think anything is waterproof in Scottish rain

    • @ElMuelio
      @ElMuelio 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SaffySprocket I've done thousands of miles in torrential rain, and true waterproof trousers, jackets and boots definitely exist. Not textile stuff, it's all only shower proof, but proper plastic coated waterproofs are a must have. Because they're also wind proof they make a HUGE difference on cold days.
      Waterproof gloves however, are a myth. 😂
      EDIT: My top tip is to only ever trust plastic to be waterproof. I even wrap my luggage in bin bags before strapping it down. Also has the advantage of keeping it all clean!

    Thank you for sharing your adventures, looks like a pair of gaitors from any outdoor shop may be useful to keep water out of your boots (maybe Decathlon good value). I like your honesty I got soaked in the rain recently and have now purchased a set of Oxford Rainseal in hi viz green my plan is to bung them on over my standard gear, they do a top n bottoms or a onesee, so good that you highlighted the issue with your phone, shit happens 😏 maybe i will bring maps on my big trip when i find the courage to get out, i would like to go to Eyemouth over the Scottish border

    OK, so where’s my postcard and stick of rock, did you manage to catch any Haggis while up there or were their little legs too fast for you.
    Yep, as soon as you hit Longtown, Canobie and Langholme you are in the Scottish Borders.
    Things have changed since I was young and found out that no matter how tight you tied the string to hold your gear on it ALWAYS managed to work loose with every bounce, but elastic bungie cord springs back after every jolt so it worked in THE OLDEN DAYS. Then again, we didn’t have Velcro then.
    Out of all the travels and rallies I have done; it has always been the ones that never went smoothly that were the most memorable, even after 50 odd years I still remember them.
    Impressed, that’s what bikes were made for.
