    The plain sleeve is, in my opinion, the better one, both in terms of shape and without the stripe. The overall design is lovely.

    i vote no stripe on the sleeve and i think the right side sleeve looks more comfortable. I can see the bunching on the left side sleeve.

    Love the blue accent on the sleeve of your scrappy sweater Lizzie. I wouldn't worry about the upper sleeve untill you block it. I always over think my sweaters , then after I block them I think, all that worrying for nothing. 🥰, Sharon.

    I really enjoy catching up w u! The fur babies were cracking me up on the stairs after your dangly strings! I’m on team no stripe unless u stack all of them on top of each other w no grey between and no purl bump…love the purl bump on the body and the spacing, it’s fantastic! Maybe when you pick up sleeve stitches instant decrease 4 sts ea row for 2 rows (8st dec) it’s what I do to lose the bulky underarm gather then dec at reg rates for pref arm shape.

    Excited to see another podcast from you! Obsessed with the Sweater 18 😍, makes me want to make one even more despite having no yarn for it and multiple sweater quantities for other projects.... On the faded scrappy stripe sweater, I think I'm team no stripe on the sleeve, I think it emphasizes the stripes on your sweater better that way. And I think the sleeve with more gradual upper arm decreases looks great, agree that the other is folding a bit much although certainly not a big deal.

      Haha that’s how I ended up with a change of project plan and running out of yarn 🤪

    I think I prefer the plain sleeve, but perhaps a very thin line, one row maybe, of each colour might look good? I agree that the top of the one with the band appears a little bulky. 💜💜💜

    Both sleeves look fine to me, the issue for me would be which is more comfortable? I also like the sleeve without the stripes at the wrist, but that's just my two cents! Whatever you decide will be wonderful. The sweater #18 is beautiful, congrats! I now want to make one.
    Love the kitties!

    Thanks for the video. I love drop shoulder sweaters and had considered this sweater. What stuck out to me was when you mentioned the shoulder detail. I find that now I'm realizing these details that add to the overall finished look of the garment. I also considered the Marseille, but was not too crazy about the shoulder(where stitches were picked up for. the left and right yokes). Maybe it's nothing, but I thought that - over time - it would pull downwards at the pick-up area. This video was helpful.

    Another great podcast. Thanks Lizzie for keeping me company while I keep knitting my Crescendo Summer Top test knit for the awesome Sophie aka the Knit Purl Girl. Love your striped sweater design and would have trouble choosing stripe or plain sleeve. Both are great. Enjoy your bank holiday and wedding planning.

    I think the sleeve with extra rows before the decreases does fit better. The extra fabric won't be noticeable visibly, but if it does *feel* uncomfy, some short row shaping at the sleeve cap may help! It'll just help the transition from shoulder to arm. There's extra fabric in raglans (and often drop shoulders) under the arm just because there's less distance for that fabric to travel than the top of the arm, short rows can help distribute it more evenly. Depending on gauge, even just 3 or 4 rows will do it!

    • @HiveKnitsNatters
      @HiveKnitsNatters  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooo I’ve not considered short row shaping in a raglan sleeve before…have done it with a drop shoulder sleeve cap

    I like your new design with the stripes! Like someone else said, I think the reight sleeve looks better at the top. The left one has very deep folds, whereas the right one does fold but less deep and more spread out. I also prefer the bottom of the right sleeve, without the blue stripe. I like the idea of the colour coming back in the sleeves, but right now with the dark blue, it is a bit too contrasting for my taste. If you want the colour you could maybe use the lightest colour, maybe even move the stripe up the arm to be equivalent with the hight on the body?

  • @catherinecunningham7126
    @catherinecunningham7126 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just my opinion but the sleeve with the blue stripe is too bulky at the top but the other one looks good to me since the sweater has a lot of positive ease. I like the blue strip but I think it looks great without it too. I giggled when I saw that black tail make it’s appearance! You are so inspiring Lizzie. Thank you! 🌸

    I love your mohair striped jumper. I like the fit of the plain sleeve but do like it with a stripe.

  • @OriginalELQ
    @OriginalELQ ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think you'll be happier with the non-striped (our left, your right) sleeve shaping on the scrappy striped sweater. As for stripes on the sleeves, I don't think that really matters - anyone who knits it will put a stripe there if they want one regardless what the pattern calls for. You could maybe add it to the pattern as an option if you're so inclined.

  • @rosemaryedwards3293
    @rosemaryedwards3293 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love the podcast - particularly the cats! With your striped sweater I prefer the plain version, as I think otherwise you would need to put all the colours in to make it look balanced. There is definitely too much fabric at the top of the sleeves, although it would probably not bother a lot of people, but my preference is always a more fitted sleeve.

  • @moiragarner1253
    @moiragarner1253 ปีที่แล้ว

    And with your sweater I like the sleeve with the strip and the fit 😊🤔

  • @ameliaharman9304
    @ameliaharman9304 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think that perhaps the right sleeve where you waited for decreases looks more natural with the extra ease higher up. I think it looks more balanced, however, that is only my opinion and I love all of your designs. So, whatever you decide; I’m sure it will be great! Just trust your own instincts 😊

  • @kristinm3729
    @kristinm3729 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd go with the right sleeve (the one with less fabric at upper arm). And I think you could do the sleeve stripe or not (maybe make that an option?). I do think one of the lower contrast colours would work better on the sleeve so that it doesn't shorten the arm or bring focus to that area in such a way that it makes the torso look shorter.

  • @sharons5723
    @sharons5723 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm late to the party but, I agree, the sleeve on your right arm looked better. the fit was good and I preferred no stripe on the sleeve, but you could include instructions for both in the pattern. Overall, I love it!

    There is a way of doing raglan increases where u increase body and sleeves at different rates to remove the bagginess in the upper arms. Check the Maiden sweater by truly myrtle. I would like lots of narrow stripes on both sleeve cuffs.

    @patsones8124 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the scrappy mohair sweater I prefer the sleeve without the blue stripe. There is a small fold at the top of the sleeve but if you don't fiddle with it when wearing the garment no-one will notice. Have a look at the video when you are wearing Sweater No 18. There is a fold on both sleeves but it is just the sweater style.

  • @dawnmason5082
    @dawnmason5082 ปีที่แล้ว

    The right sleeve (non blue stripe sleeve) at the top looks better👍🏻 as far as the stripe goes-what about a garter stripe in the main color??

  • @TrudySchwartzBurrill

    I like it one strip on sleeve or just on one sleeve looks cool too. I can see slight bunching on sleeve but it could be left as is. But its up to you.

    Hi! Thanks for this podcast, I really enjoyed it. I love your sweater no 18, makes me want to knit one! 🙊 your scrappy sweater looks great, I prefer the right sleeve with the even decreases, but they are both nice. I prefer the sleeve without the stripe, or maybe a thinner stripe? Happy knitting!
