This reel has got to be one of the cleanest reels I’ve seen you service. I like this reel. I don’t really know why as I would never use one. It just seems quite logical, understandable, and of high quality. This video was a pleasure to watch! Dennis, I got a beauty of a nice reel today that I had not seen but once before. It’s nothing special but very well made and has beauty and quality. It is an Olympic 303 medium saltwater spinning reel and I was able to get a new one in the box with everything from a very nice eBay seller. He was the one I was asking you about his unusua Penn Spinfisher 70o reel. I’ll send you a photo of the reel. Also,i can’t believe indid this but I got another Mitchell 386. It was so inexpensive I couldn’t resist. At the very least it will be the source of some hard-to-find parts. I’ll see when it comes. I had intended to stop getting reels while I was working on my reel storage system but these were two I couldn’t pass up. I’ll let you know how this 386 turns out. - Chris
That is the difference between a reel used in saltwater and one use in fresh water! They stay clean and are more easily serviced. How many 386 reels do you have now????
Thank You for the great tutorial, I purchased a used sg 47 lc for salmon fishing here in the PNW. Love the reel but the drag is sticky, Took the reel apart and found the drag washers were super greasy, Real sloppy inside. I plan on cleaning well and replacing the drag washers with new carbontex. Hopefully the drag will work better..
That is awesome! Yes - excess grease will cause the sticky or slipping of drag washers. You plan of action should fix the issues - Best wishes for great fishing with the reel - Dennis
That one is odd. Usually, the drags stick, but still work. If you have a torn drag washer or a very worn one, that could cause your issue. You will need to take the reel apart and see what is going on inside. It may be dirt or debris causing the issue if it isn't worn washers - Dennis

Very nice reel
Sure is! For fans of line counter reels, this is a nice one to own - Dennis
Enjoy the lesson. My issue is my drag no longer works. Tighten it down and no drag? Thanks.

Thank you love the reel have a pair. I'll check it out I took apart a look at the drag washers.
How do you service the line counter on the reel?. My line counter does not reset and sometimes it stops moving as I'm letting line out
You likely have to replace the part. If it does not reset, either there is a broken piece in the mechanism or dirt.debris etc is holding it back.
A lot of screws . Arthritis getter but a nice Reel
Yes - it is worth the effort to keep it serviced. It is a nice reel!
I have a much smaller Diawa MAGFORCE reel with the same problem. Can anyone help me?
Thanks, Ken
😊
Which version of the mag force do you have? I did a video on the mag force. You can watch it here th-cam.com/video/4MvCej_8gjk/w-d-xo.html Dennis
