    All are beautiful colors! The Wild Strawberry and Poppy Red looks very much identical to me! Thanks for the video.

    Truly enjoy, and appreciate you doing these comparisons! Love that Wild Strawberry, Sherwood Green and Autumn Oak. That Amaranth looks very interesting, too!

      Thanks Dave, glad you like them! Amaranth was an ink I thought I never would use but I bought it anyway, but it's been used a lot that I might need to buy a replacement bottle soon.

    Love these colors! Peach haze and orange blaze and Sherwood green are my favorites! I like the wild strawberry too! I only have the the amaranth in my own collection but I can see adding the peach haze, blaze, Sherwood green and even the bilberry! Lovely video! Thank you!

    The Peach Haze and Coral from the previous video both look tempting

  • @Stormandfire

    There are so many good inks in this selection! The Wild Strawberry looks luscious and the depth and sheen of Sherwood Forest and Bilberry are very tempting. Autumn Oak is on my maybe list.
    But Amaranth. I'm not a fan of bright pinks (I'd rather purple or very soft pinks) but it's just soft enough it's not searing but still strong enough to identifiably pink and legible.

    Diamine is one of my favorite brands. I love getting new inks from them, especially because the 30ml bottles are so cheap and compact.
    With regards to the bottles almost gluing shut, I usually wipe the rim and the inside of the cap before closing the bottle again. This prevents most of the issues. Might be a good practice to get used to for all bottles?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wasn't a great fan of the 30ml bottles because the necks of the bottles are so narrow that you can't get a lot of nibs or sections into the bottle. However I've been buying more and more lately because it's easy to refill an 80ml bottle, once empty they are great little bottles to take with you to re-ink your pens, the caps are very secure, and you can use them with a Pineider Pen Filler to make refilling a pen much easier. Also the cost of around £2.35 in the UK for 30ml and compared to a 5ml sample at around £2, it makes sense to just buy a 30ml bottle instead of a sample.

    I really love Bilberry, but I never get any sheen from it. All of my pens are too dry. I'm surprised you didn't call it "blurple" because I think it has a definite purple hue. Thanks for another great video.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You do really need a wet pen and it helps the broader the nib. If you have it in a pen that typically dries out over a few days to a week, then leave it in the pen for 3-4 weeks and then write with it. Some of the water content in the ink will evaporate and make it a little more dye heavy and that will make it sheen.
      You could leave it in a vial which is left open for a few days before inking up a pen too, just be careful that it's in a secure place that it can't be knocked over easily. That will also allow some of the water to evaporate and it will sheen a little more.

    • @CatherineC.2123
      @CatherineC.2123 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have thought about evaporating inks but never did it. Thanks to you I now have courage and will try it.

      @@CatherineC.2123 to echo what was said, a broad nib goes a long way in getting the sheen. It is a beautiful ink and it has layed down wonderful sheen in a twsbi eco broad. Good luck!

    I have been dying to see Diamine’s “Wild Strawberry” and “Merlot”. I love the “Wild Strawberry”, that may be in my future...

    • @PenultimateDave

      Diamine Wild Strawberry for me is one of my favourite reds along with Diamine Poppy Red.

  • @ellzpc2609
    @ellzpc2609 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm a huge fan of Diamine inks. I love the Wild Strawberry... I normally use Red Dragon or Classic Red but may look to change. The Amaranth is very nice... but that Bilberry... wow...! Love your ink reviews Dave!
    Quick question: what is worse for your pen with regards to staining, cleaning, and blocking feeds; Heavy Sheening inks or Shimmering inks?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Elliot!
      I've never had any issues with shimmering inks, I dedicate them to TWSBI Diamond 580AL's and I can always clean them out and flush the feeds very well. They will clog the feed from time to time but priming the piston knob and holding pen over a towel will usually get the blockage out.
      For me the worst danger is sheening inks or high maintenance inks that stain the pens. Most resins are okay but you can get white sections that stain more quickly and certain celluloids can stain too.

    After seeing this, I'm thinking of getting Merlot. Not committed yet though. I love Autumn Oak, and Blaze Orange is my favourite orange ink.

      If you like Autumn Oak then also look at Herbin Ambre de Birmanie, more of an Autumn brown colour but also very nice.

    Thank Dave for your review, I love Diamine inks, the only two I have from here in my collection are Bilberry and Autumn I love autumn oak and the shading really shows in a flex nib, Bilberry is a beautiful ink too. You have made me think I need Sherwood green and Merlot at some stage. I was wondering how Merlot and Wine Divine compare?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't actually compared the inks side by side but from recollection they are similar although I think wine divine is a little more purple in the red.

    I often times I don't like the swatch of the inks. Then the writing sample is very nice. I like green ink, but the Sherwood color swatch not so nice, then I do like the writing sample of it.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree! I think that's why I don't write with Sherwood Green much as I didn't like the swatch colour much.

    I was interested to find out orange inks get crusty

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any ink can depending on the amount of dye but definitely orange and brown and sometimes red inks depending on the dye in the ink can make some inks go more crusty.

    What pen are you using for ink descriptions? Thanks.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pen is the William Shakour Titan, it’s a pen made by a UK Pen Collector William Shakour.
      I have a review of two of his Titan's at th-cam.com/video/2lJrH6Y4Ebw/w-d-xo.html and another one at th-cam.com/video/dweMrPGta5s/w-d-xo.html
      He doesn’t have a website, he’s on Instagram as instagram.com/williamshakour and can make pens to order.
