I refer to guys like Kurt Cobain or Layne Staley, they were very calm and respectful guys but they had the rock n roll attitude by talking about everything without fear. But I also know nowadays the fear of being cancelled affects all these artists. A wrong word and they can disappear from the map instantly. Is not easy
I am so happy that Damiano understands what it means being a celebrity and has a very healthy distance to his private personality. I am so happy that he speaks so openly and is so honest about it. A lot of celebrities cant build that distance between their private self and their role on stage, which very often causes them serious problems.

I didn't think I could like this guy more, but here it goes. Not only he is one of my favorite performers of the last decade, a total natural, fearless, raw, charismatic, talented af...but he's also right in the head!!! 😮
He has the healthiest perspective to being a singer and celebrity that I think I've ever heard. There may have been other singers throughout the ages who have felt the same but I've never heard it articulated quite the way he just did. And if the band ever wanted to use the word 'articulate' in a future song, that would be interesting to listen to too.
He intrinsically understands that HE isn’t the only reason for his success. He understands it took a team of people to get him where he is , and that he is merely the voice and the face of so much talent collected around him. Damiano is so rare to be this way. I think growing up in a city like Rome where everyone works in the tourist industry and you realize that it’s all just a façade. Being a Roman Street rat is part of what makes these guys who they are and why they are so authentic and real. It’s a city where you grew up literally expecting to work in the tourism industry. And they somehow made it out of that. It’s really an incredible story when you think about it.
I am from Rome and I can assure that this view you have is completely distorted. No one who grows up in Rome grows up with the idea that he or she is expected to work in the tourist industry😂Tourism is surely an important part of the city but only one of the many. Most Romans don't even live in the centre where the tourism is.
I love what he said in the beginning about the stage persona. I once went to a hospital for depression and that funny doctor asked me, if there is a time when I don't feel like that. And I said: "yes, on stage, but that's not really me" 🤣 I swear that guy thought I got multiple personalities or schizophrenia. But it's true, you leave your personal baggage in the backstage. And your stage persona is you, but it's also not.
Wait, the psychologist was surprised by that? It should be obvious to him. There's generally something like "actor's personality". This guy here definitely does have it and many performers do as well. It's this kind of fluidity and ability to transform between different vibes and behaviors. You're getting 100% into the "character" you want to push forward at the moment. It can bring a relief, because you leave your emotions outside of the persona and are in control of what is happening. But it can also get dangerous if you forget to switch it off and get back to being natural.
I remember watching his stage presence & thinking he seems like the average immature early twenties dude who over sexualises everything with his music (still loved their music regardless of this wrongful assumption) but clearly, I’ve prejudged this man & even the rest of this band too harshly because this alone shows that he has a mature & articulate mind upon his shoulders. What a privilege to have human beings like this in the industry, I truly hope they get to enjoy their success without it taking a toll on them like it has for too many others.
Maneskin should write a book about how to behave when you become famous, they give hope for the future of music, not just through talent but through attitude too.
this makes me so happy to hear! when i first started listening to maneskin and watching their performances, i knew they were rockstars. sometimes power gets to rockstars' heads, so i sometimes wondered about them. it's great they have boundaries, stay grounded, and don't think they're better than anyone
