    Controversial opinion maybe but I actually taught myself to do this by playing the Snooker 19 video game on the PlayStation. Whilst there's obviously no true substitute for playing on a real table, it's useful for those of us without their own table or who are limited by finances or time down the club. A video game obviously can't teach you how to physically strike a ball but because it frees you of your limitations in doing this repeatedly and correctly, it allows you to concentrate on what is required to build higher breaks in a 'planning' sense. I've found it has actually helped me during my once-weekly visit to the club in regards to shot selection and developing other balls. I wonder what you think of using video games as a practice aid when you don't have access to an actual table? Perhaps you could take a look at this in a future video?

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@TheCuggsmeister I think this is a perfectly valid way of improving. I actually think if you've got the lines showing the cue ball path and things, that gives a great visual aid to learning.
      It also gets you more focussed on getting the pot first and foremost, and letting the cue ball take care of itself (because the game helps you visualise the steps).
      So yeah, I think it would definitely help. Obviously past the theory it can't help you strike a snooker ball, but as long as it's helping at all, that's great!

    • @TheCuggsmeister
      @TheCuggsmeister 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @BartonSnooker Thanks, Steve. Yes, you can set the game up so it shows the trajectory lines of both the object ball and cue ball. You can also adjust the shot to give various levels of side...and this, in turn, obviously changes the trajectory lines. So, for example, if you're going for the black off its spot, it helps you learn whether you'd need any side to help you split the pack of remaining reds. If someone is an infrequent player, like me, I think it really helps because you're not having to try and work all these things out during your matches. Like you say, it can't teach you any of the physical attributes of how to actually strike a cue ball but it's a big help improving your 'snooker brain' so that you can at least plan out fairly quickly what you intend to do when approaching a situation on the table.

    The most common reason for missing breaks is missing the pot itself. This happens mainly due to subconscious and unwanted wrist twist in most cases .Is there any way to control that?How often do you not deliver the cue straight and miss the pot?

    Hi steve, i have a question, i am a player who can make 20breaks regularly, but i think i am not really consistent, one day i could pot a lot of balls and the other day i could struggle potting a simple pot, and i would start doubting about my stance, line of aim, cueing etc. and a friend of mine just said the reason i miss is i didnt time the shot correctly, is it possible that a miss timing shot could lead to a ball to miss by a mile, if yes, how could i improve it. Thanks

    Consistency at knocking in frame winning or higher contributions is extremely difficult in Snooker. And the hardest shot by a country Mile on a snooker table is to continually strike the centre of the white. It’s all well and good at uploading videos making the odd century here and there but if you’re really that good at snooker and I’m talking about anybody here you can do it frame after frame after frame after frame on the practice table.

    I am always having problems when the cue ball is close to the object ball....I can't generate any action....and if I play a normal shot the result is a foul push...
    Any drill or tip to overcome this....for example distance between balls is 3 inch I will either push or I will not get any action especially in screw and follow

    • @williambox2463
      @williambox2463 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You have to draw the cue back faster after striking the cue ball. If the cue ball is too close to the object ball then the only shot is to clip of the edge of the object ball. sometimes you can’t hit the object ball where you want, it’s about realising that and choosing another shot etc, not blindly going ahead and wondering why it goes wrong

      @BartonSnooker  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mickeyplayspubg9453 when you deliver the cue, the side of the thumb should hit the side of the body.
      The thumb hitting the chest should not be hard, just a medium pressure as the hand delivers. So don't thump yourself in the ribs. Just a gentle / medium pressure to the chest after the cue has been delivered.
      Maybe you are just hitting the ball too hard?

My past scores was around 25 30 but these scores was without drills practice and more or less playing with frames. What sort of drills do i need to look at. Im fairly good at pool and know about side and all that i know its abit different because its a bigger table heavier balls. Just wondering if you have any tips. Just about to get a knew cue aswell peradon 1 piece which i had years ago just waiting on that to come and get to practice.
