Brian D, thank you for bringing back memories. I grew up in Oakland Chinatown in the early 60's. I attended Lincoln Elementary and Oakland Chinese Community Center. I am a regular customer at Gum Guo and Tao Yuen Pastry. Wow, the third place of business I have never been to is Big Dish Restaurant. That tray of har gow and siu mai sure looks delicious. I will have to check them out.
Wow, this brings back memories. I used to teach English and citizenship classes there during college, at Asian Immigrant Women Advocates. Wonderful to see this! Thanks for making this video.
Why don't you just order in cantonese? Kind of odd for you to say I want two har gao (while you say har gao in perfect canto). Gives you an opportunity to practice. Don't waste your chiness school.
**Which one would you love to try out?**
Tried all three based on your video. All good, but Tao Yuen Pastry for me.
@@motorolas What you like to get over there?
@@LifeOfBD The dumplings, Fried Shrimp, Fried Tofu, Har gow, to name a few. Been here a few times over the months and the line moves quick.
@@motorolaspretty cheap also compare to most place and their quality right?

Appreciate the compliment!
Big Dish is the best you can also get but two meat rice plate there with your dim sum. Hard to beat the price even with the covid-19 inflation.
Yes thankfully their price is still relatively cheap
I would love to try some chow mein please

I love big dish! they have good to-go dim sum items 😍
Word on that! Love my shui mai out there!
What's your favorite place for pho in Oakland?
Pho Ao San!
Pho king, the broth!!! Pho 84!
Tao Yuen is always crowded. There’s a reason for that.
EXACTLY!
ALL MEN ARE KINGS
That bad service place
Maybe instead of ripping open the bun you could rip open your shirt? ;)
