    Good video as always. I hope to get some range time with my 260AI and do a bunch of development using n550 and 120 to 130 gr bullets. I can give a tip on something I tried in my 260 both straight 260, fireforming and formed 260AI. I am putting just as tight of groups as you with 120 PPU hpbt. I tried a 100 a while ago and ended up buying "quite a few". Very very reasonably priced. I am not into marketing things but the grocery store is eating into my fun.. lol

    I been searching for a new deer rifle cause i finally got my supressor out of atf jail. Turns out all the bolt rifles i own are smooth with no threads so gonna have to build one for deer season i guess. I got a 6mm rem mag and a 6.5 cred with a 15 pound bull barrel but none are threaded. Just wanted to check this out and see what the prc was all about. Also got a 25 wssm 264 win mag 7mm08 7mm mag 30 06 243 204 280 300 308 22 250 270 6mm 6.5 cred and i got some more but u get the point i got a bunch of rifles and none have a threaded barrel for attachments. I know i can get it threaded but why not build a new one.

    Have used n565 a lot in my PRCs, would suggest you work up a ladder to find max pressure so you aren't wasting components at slower velocities. We are running north of 58grs without issues with 147s. Should be able to get 3000fps pretty easily.

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nice to hear that I have plenty of room to go with this powder. I've only broken 3,000 FPS when I was shooting the 130 gr Barnes TSX.

  • @thebleeb1681
    @thebleeb1681 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I ran your ladder loads and fps numbers through GRT. GRT is sometimes just OK, but sometimes it's scary good. IIRC that''s a 24" barrel? The pressure results indicated being 25% below PMax at 54gr. Increasing the powder charge to 55.89gr. N565 should put you about 57-58K pressure - about 10% below max. My experience is after the charge's accuracy, ES and SD fall apart together, it comes back with a bit more juice. I'm throwing lasers running 69.7gr N565 in my 7PRC at 63K pressure with an ES of 4 and SD of 2.1. It was aweful sloppy 1.5gr lower.

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I run GRT, too, thanks to another viewer who suggested it. It helps alleviate some of the worry when using a powder not listed for the round/bullet combo. I use it to make sure my starting point is well below max pressure, which gives plenty of room to creep up on max. You are correct, it is a 24" barrel.

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As the charges have increased the ES/SD have been really tight on some, even with powders not necessarily meant for the 6.5. I need to get some more StaBall HD soon, that is a great powder for the 6.5.

      @@Halfmilesniper I have been very impressed with both Staball 6.5 in my 7 Rem Mags and even more so Staball Match in my 308s. The Match is perhaps a bit better than Varget for me so far in all the bullets I have tested. I have gotten single digit SDs consistently and the velocities are very impressive without pressure and accuracy is right there with Varget and H4895. I haven't started reloading yet, still learning what to do and not to do. Slower burning would be for heavier grain self defense and faster for practice lighter grain? Am I understanding that right? Would be rifle, .223, 5.56, .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. I want the right powder for the right reasons. I've got some Varget, StaBall 6.5, CFE223, H4350, Benchmark. Are those pretty good to start with?

    • @Halfmilesniper
      @Halfmilesniper  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Those are all good powders Jimmy. I would suggest to get 2 different load manuals (cross reference) and see how your powders lines up with the published loads. Varget should be great for the .308 and probably the Creedmoor, same for the H4350. The CFE223 is good for the .223/5.56, I haven't ever used Benchmark though, but I've read it is a good .223 powder.
      I'd also suggest getting the ABCs of reloading...read it before you start. Welcome to this new level of addiction, lol!
