These are so good. It's crazy to think about how PUNY we are when put up against something like the freaking ocean. It's no competition. We are but ants.

It would be nice if the cement companies at your Harbor could collect the sand and use it at their plant

    4:22 B/S - or COWDUNG.!
The Buller River is NOT the river with the largest catchment area in NZ - at a mere 6350 km2.
The Mighty CLUTHA (Molyneux) holds THAT TITLE - at a massive 21,022 km2.
A physical area size difference of OVER THREE TIMES that of the Buller's catchment area.
    READ THE DIFFERENCES HERE:
The MIGHTY MOLYNEUX (Clutha/Matua) River's VAST inland catchment area is:
    [quote]
Clutha River. The Clutha River/MataAu (MOLYNEUX RIVER) catchment lies across the breadth of Otago with a catchment area of 21,022 km2. and carried a massive 5100 cumecs in the 1999 high flood event, and the 5,700 cumecs that flowed during the even higher flood event of 1878.
It is the largest catchment (area) and river (flow volume) in New Zealand.Land, Air, Water Aotearoa (LAWA) - Clutha River
    www.lawa.org.nz/explore-data/otago-region/river-quality/clutha-river/

    versus:
The much SMALLER catchment area of the Buller River:
    [quote]
The Buller River catchment (see map on right) has a catchment area of 6350 km2 and a mean flow of 454 m3/s at Te Kuha a few kilometres upstream of the Buller flood plain where Westport is located.Flood modelling of the Buller River, Westport | NIWA

Unfortunately - the BAR at the mouth of the Clutha River (for boats entering into Port Molyneux) became so unusable during many of the last 100+ years flood events, that the river created two NEW MOUTHS, neither of which serviced the now high and dry Port Molyneux, (which has long-since ceased to exist as a viable port).
HENCE NOTHING CAN CROSS THE BAR NOW.

(land between the lakes) come back out to head home? lookly y around the corner OH SHIT. barges throwining 15 ft spray. descion time. smart move . cozy up in cove. bad move try to cross. . interesting crossining. worked out. despite the self doubt. condifece in my boat my skills (and need for hot shower and food). outweigehed my misgivings. worked out.. in hindsight should of layed up. . but as it always is in after action reports shoulda colud have wouldhave.. don't mean shit. good or bad a descion needs to made and commited too. I think that's what spells captain. that being said. had there been other souls on board. well you know?
