Very good job Kate! The check cord with the post was worth the whole vid. I am in the process of training my GSP myself, with all the expected mistakes that come with that. However, at 8 months, she will point and remain steady (for the most part 😂), she fetches like a retriever, and she is getting the whoa command down very nicely. Keep the vids coming. They are gold.
I was overwhelmed at first at teaching the Whoa command. I thought it would be very tough to teach my dog. But it was fairly easy and he, (WPG), picked it up quickly. I used the "Suitcase Handle" method and then progressed to a check cord then on to free running with the E collar. It took less then one week. Probably the most important command your dog will ever use and can save his life in certain situations, (Running onto a road).
