Frankly speaking, first thing ppl should do for WoF is buy "E" and "A". Most common vowels so they open up the board a lot. Only issue is you are also opening it up for your opponents though.
Gotta be even more careful than that though, the whole reason they started doing that puzzle where they give you R S T L N E is because people kept going straight for those, so they know full well their puzzles need to use fewer common letters.
