      Mine arrived yesterday, a week early and I'm in love!
      It is as simple as filling the reservoir with water and pressing the 'ON' button and within 15 mins, a fresh batch of ice. I filled 2 large ziplock bags in just a few hours.
      I ran an extra 4 mins for thick, solid cubes.
      I was also amazed at how quietly it runs.
      If I had one complaint and it's a tiny one, is that the drain port in the back has no valve so you can't run a hose without some water pouring out between removing the stopper and attaching the hose, not that I see myself using the drain very often except for cleaning.

      I was looking up reviews of countertop ice makers and I came across your review. When I saw your face I said to myself that guy is going to give an honest review. This was the best done review of any product I’ve ever seen. I am definitely going to go buy that Frigidaire . I also subscribed to your channel and I have no idea what your channel is about but I just thought I thought you were very entertaining and no matter what you talked about would be a lot of fun to listen to. Thank you!

    I live in the deep rural south - I don't use AC very often I still use a window fan and ceiling fans - I have the original hunter ceiling fans -
    The newer ceiling fans don't last long when you run them with out AC - with good ceiling fans even 105° F is not bad when a ceiling fan is blowing a strong breeze of air over you -
    I had bought one of those counter top ice makers last yr - it said it made 25 lbs a day -
    When it' was 100° every day last summer it ran constantly and I'm sure it did not make 25 lbs of ice a day when I used it -
    I'm glad you demonstrated that Frigidaire ice maker - but my guess is for it to work well I'll have to run the air-condition in the house -
    My freezers make the old ice trays of ice well enough when it's 105° lol -
    Air-condition feels good but I just prefer the $35 a month electric bills in summer over a $450 electric
    bill summer months lol -
    When my kids were still here we used a ton of ice each day during summer -
    It was the same when I was a kid during summer - on freezer was full of meat and garden stuff and the other freezer made ice -
    When it's hot and you don't use AC you use a lot of ice -
    I'm going to have to get one of those fridgadare 40 pound ice makers like you have -
    You might set it out side under a shed during the heat of the day and see if it still makes ice well when it's really hot -
    For us after hurricane and we're on our generator for a month or so all those things ice count a lot -
    None of the stores sell ice after hurricanes -

    Use lemon juice mixed with water (10/1) to clean it. Do it once a month and you'll have fresh, clean tasting ice. Also, use filtered water for best results.

    • @loveit59
      @loveit59 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Do u freeze the lemon juice? Do u swish it around and let it run out?

    • @bodegibbs779
      @bodegibbs779 4 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@loveit59 I just pour it into the tank, let it work for about half an hour, then run a cycle with the juice. It makes lemon cubes and cleans the whole unit. Throw the ice away, spray the tank out with clear water and run a half tank of water. Throw those cubes away and you're good to go..

      For use IN the truck? If so, what size inverter are you using?

    • @able880
      @able880 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TxRiverElfif a 25 pound of ice a day machine draws 100 watts - I would think a 40 pound machine would pull 150 to 200 watts -
      When it real hot the inverters out put decreases quite a bit - normally at 78° a 600 watt. Inverter would work if nothing else is hooked up to it -
      But if the surrounding air around the inverter gets up to 95 or higher you would need a 1000 to 1500 watt inverter -
      A smaller inverter will cut off on high heat on light loads -
      Your probably better off getting a 12 volt car refrigerator for your truck - I live 28 miles from town and use one to keep meat cold as I do my shopping in town once a month -
      Those car fridges are fantastic at keeping things ice cold -

      I can totally relate. I’ve gone 4 years without ice, and hated every second of it. We only have a mini fridge, not a full sized fridge so space is very limited. I finally bought my first ice maker 2 days ago, and am making my first batch as I type this. So long are the days of buying bags of ice at wal mart for $1.50. I would buy 2 every other day. That’s $1.50 every day of the year. I was spending *$547* on *ice* every year!!! That’s a lot of money for freaking ice. So I splurged on a $120 Magic Chef 27lb ice maker. Finally I have ice 😁

    Our neighbor just gave us the stainless steel one, but it didn't have instructions with it. We've never had a "countertop ice maker" so we didn't know how they worked. After watching ur video, it answered ALL my questions! So thank you! I'm so glad we got a good one (and for FREE too🤪😁). I get it, living in Florida (ESPECIALLY during the summer time) we NEED ice to survive.
    Anyone that lives in Florida and are hesitant about paying $100+ for one, just think....... after ONE hurricane, it pays for it's self, and than some. If u have a generator (living in Florida, most of us do), this ice maker is small enough to run on most generators, and keep making ice to keep ur fridge food from spoiling AND to just have an ice cold beer/cocktail/glass of lemonade (whatever your beverage preference is) to help u keep cool while ur waiting for that power to be turned back on.
    ***Another helpful suggestion. During hurricanes when water is limited: As the bags of ice melt, just reuse that same water to make more ice!***

    • @able880
      @able880 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I live in rural south Louisiana hurricanes can knock power out for months -
      Up till about 1960 those that had power when I was a kid had farm light plants - those homes had 16 individual cells 2 volts each that made up 32 volts DC - we called those houses 32 volt DC homes - they had lights,window fans, ceiling fans, fridges, freezers, water pumps that all ran off the 32 volts bank of house battery's - they charged the house battery's with a Delco light plant all day every Friday once a week -
      Today people are buying power stations that will run there fridges and fans along with small inverter generators to charge there power stations for 6 hrs a day or so -
      It close to the same concept as when homes had 32 volt farm light plants to power there home off battery's before REA brought AC pole power out here in the woods -

There are also plastic ice bags sold on Amazon that holds 10lbs of ice. I fill those up with ice and keep a couple in my chest freezer. I do prefer the cubes that this machine makes instead of the ice bullets. Next time I’ll get one like this so I can have cubes! Thanks for the review! 😃

I keep a hard bowl with the scoop to break the ice if it clumps. Europeans don't understand why we love ice so much, and 'we' don't understand why they 'don't.' lol. I consider the ice maker probably the best appliance I've ever bought... And the one it would be hard to live without!

    I just purchased this thnx to ur video. I caught it on sale on Walmart too for like 144. Every other clear ice maker tht was worth it, cost around 200 msrp. I was able to get this one and a 3 yr warranty add on for less then 180. Thanks man I was giving up.

    Nice little trick I discovered after standing at the sink, wondering how the heck I was going to clean the ice maker, is to use the sprayer on your kitchen sink. I washed that baby out with soapy water, and then hosed the inside down with my kitchen sink sprayer, then dumped it out and repeated the process a few more times. Worked like a charm.

    I have had a few ice machines since 2005. I will never go back to not having a ice machine. I love your passion and glad that you loves yours too! You have a pretty good buy. Some are cheaper under $100 and some over $300. I am looking for a clear ice machine maker! Take good care and stay "cool"

    I just ordered this same ice maker and it should arrive today. Looking forward to replacing my current ice maker. If you spend about $3.00/day on store bought ice, thus machine will pay for itself in about 2 months, give or take!!
    Plus it saves time on having to run to the store!! I HATED ice runs when I ran out of ice, so the convenience is priceless!!! Thanks for the video tour!!
    FYI... The +/- buttons allow you to set the size (thickness) of the cubes, not necessarily how much ice. 1=1 minute to ice formation, 2=2 minutes, 3=3 minutes, etc up to 6 minutes. The longer time for ice formation, the thicker the sheet of ice cubes.
    😉👍

    Great review Lead! This will come in handy with family gatherings. Last Thanksgiving, the family used all the ice my refrigerator made. The fridge could not keep up. We had to make an ice run. The family is growing...more people. Plus, there was other stuff in those cups which I found out later...LOL
    You need to post a link...get credit for the review. ❤️ Plus, I like the idea of using this with solar as Adam mentioned.

    Wow! You are a way better salesman then the pillow guy. Keeping it real, you sold me on the one you bought. My 3 year old top of the line Samsung fridge with the famous "no ice again" maker has died for the second time. Samsung helpfully recomends that I go pound sand, my warr. has expired. I'm a 75 year old and was looking at counter tops. Thanks for the hands on retrospect and entertainment, wife and I Ioved your presentation .

    Thanks so much for the info; I don't use as much ice as you (I must use about 1/2 a pound a day) but I prefer cold water with ice. I recently purchased the baby brother of yours that does 25lbs @ $89 from COSTCO; much cheaper over the long run than dealing with my frozen built in ice maker with the $45 filter. I use a large 3M water filter that filters all the cold water under the sink; replace no more than 2x a year; with the Frigidaire Ice machine on the way it will pay for itself quickly compared to the ice machine filter built into the fridge.

    I bought as an open box return in store. After cleaning it it started making ice. I timed and weighed the cubes. My findings at the default settings is that this machine makes 5 ounces of ice every 15 minutes. In a day that works out to 480 ounces a day. That would mean in 24 hours it makes 30 pounds of ice.
    The reservoir holds about 2 quarts or 64 ounces of water. So to get that 30 pounds you need to put in 7.5 quarts of water in the machine.
    Where I live ice is $2 for 10 pounds. So I’d be saving $6 a day making myself.

    I just bought the smaller size model.
    It doesn't give me the wattage but it does say 120 volts a.c. at 2amps.
    I don't recall the formula for calculating the wattage.
    I hope to run this on one of my power inverters.
    I could put up with a lot of inconviences if I could have a little ice every day.
    Thanks for the video.
