I do have a lot of experience with platformers, but ch9 only took me 1200 deaths with moonbery, before I did the C-sides. I’m impressed that so many people were able to push past 5k deaths and still finish the level as I get frustrated pretty easy when I get stuck on certain rooms for a long time, mad respect.
For a first playthrough 1761 is a pretty amazing death counter 0_0 It's like almost 1/3 of what I remember I got in my first playthrough. You're genuinely _REALLY_ skilled 0_0
Damn I only took 2k deaths and after replaying I got it to 1k but honestly I'm more impressed I did golden summit c side with 22 deaths on my second playthrough
What did you do instead? Farewell requires 15 hearts. Each a side has one so 8 hearts means 7 left from b or c sides. c sides are unlocked after completing 8b which means you either played b sides, used assist mode or did gate skip 🤔
@@tumultuousv okay fair. They said the went to chapter 9 and not that they completed it. That probably means they were talking about the gate in 8a since that's the only gate before 9
I love how chapter 9 feels more like the ending then a DLC, it forces you to prove you deserve the ending by making you basically do a 100% to just reach that moment, then it gives the hardest challenge introducing 2 more mechanics and a special surprise I won't ruin, it shows work up everything to chase your dreams, and it really makes it feel like the true ending, Madeline trying to get over that granny died, for all we now she could of died before Chapter 9, and I just appreciate that the developers took the time to make something enjoyable, lore hunters get some lore, and normal players get a good challenge, I really like chapter 9.
It's funny, I just completed Chapter 9 myself (alongside getting the moonberry) with a similar death count (2363) yesterday obtaining 100% for the first time after starting a replay of the game last Sunday.
2K+ total deaths for me to beat Farewell +(Moonberry) Certainly one of the hardest things I've achieved in my gaming career. Which isn't much since I dont play (that) much hard games. *at least on steam!* The only 2 hard games ive played AND got all the acheivments for on Steam are Hollow Knight and Celeste...truly hard, but fun at the same time. And I beat the hardest things in those games in a couple hours P5 took me around 4ish hours while this took me 5+ hours...crazy
Hell nah bruh I got 6k deaths😭Also I don't know why damn I did it but I wavedashed to get past the wall before I got all those crystal hearts so I just ended up just not beating it because I sucked so I just beat it later when I ACTUALLY got all hearts lmao

I got 0 deaths on my first playthrough :O (on my first playthrough i just used the assist mode to bypass all the rooms :D my true death count is 189.453)
I got about 3.3k deaths but without doing c sides nor 8b. Nowadays I totally I agree. Gimme half an hour and I'll be done ^^ Also near the hub area were lots of rooms I never saw again after my first playthrough xD
Not only that, but it *only* increased my total death count from about 4800 to just over 8400, increased my total playtime from 20 hours to 32 hours, and made me question my sanity :D Now I get to do all the C-Sides
