  • Chopping Corn Silage near Courtland Minnesota
    Video I shot at a dairy farm near Courtland Minnesota as a local custom harvester chops corn silage for the dairy. In this video is a John Deere 9900i self propelled forage harvester, several John Deere Row Crop tractors pulling Aulick Dump Carts from the chopper to the trucks and several Deere tractors pushing and packing on the silage pile back at the farm.

    What an awesome video. We've come a long ways from a John Deere three row self propelled and two #38 John Deere pull types and a 4020 and a 4520 for power. That was Dad and I in 1974.

    Nice Field work with the John Deer in Germany u would see more Claas Jaguar 950 - 960. Did u know how many tonnes u getting out at the and per acre?
    In Germany the Silage from Corn last year and 2018 was about 1 to 1 and a half months earlyer the canola and wheat not even finished the Corn campaign starts.

    Mike. What is silage. I know it's chopped up corn but isn't there some sort of chemical process involved........like fermintation.

    • @jaydanhotovec9783
      @jaydanhotovec9783 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes fermentation is the process the silage goes through before it is fed to the cows. We also put innoculent onto the corn as it is chop which helps prevent rotting in the fermentation process

    • @MrKaba1985
      @MrKaba1985 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Silage is a big part for feeding specials are Cows as it has the best amount from any croops to let them grow and giving Milk. The second big part u need Silage is a bio gasplant.
      After the Corn (or grass, rey, and other crops are cuttet) with the Forage Harvester they get into Silow for the Fermentation it's like making Chees from Milk because the Bakteria is also called milkbakteria.
