Excellent gourds have hundred of them But please drill holes to vent the gourds other wise the Martins will over heat in the north Carolina sun
There are four dimples in the neck of the gourd drill out small holes under the dimples the chicks will stay cooler this way, other wise you will
have chicks that over heat and jump and soaking wet from condensation. These are the gourds of the future can't find any better they are the best.

Hi Raymond. Great advice. We should probably tell Troyer to add this recommendation in there written material that is provided with the gourds. I also added the sterling block because we had starlings initially when I had the round holes now they can’t get in which makes me delighted. Consider subscribing. Thanks Joe just got her first set of Mertens two days ago.

I added the starling guards which was a great addition because we had some starlings trying to nest there so I switched those out. I rrecommend whoever buys thesse to get them with the starling guards. We now have tree swalloows nesting in our gourds and no martins yet. I am than a drill those out probably with a 1/4 inch bit. Thanks for your suggestion. consider subscribing. Thanks Joe

This is the square pole system. Troyer makes the best ones. I have this one and is very well made.
