“I’m gonna file that under this doesn’t have legs”😂…I bet David Atkinson has that Steve Hackett record. Thank you for sending me that Hawkwind CD. That arrived right before we left Natick. I was surprised to see a Deep Purple boxset. David Gilmour is such an amazing guitarist. I still haven’t lotto that new Black Crowes. Guess I should. The Cure is probably the biggest surprise in a vinyl community video I’ve seen in 2025! Embryonic approved.
Interesting list! I agree with you about the the Dickinson album , it’s way better than i thought it would be, i think 2 that you showed would make my top 20, great job Steve👍🤘🤘
Morning Steve! I've been catching a bunch of these 2024 recaps. Saves me a lot of time and research! As a result, I started listening and buying new music/artists from last year that passed me by. I'll do a video on those down the road. I'm a big early 70's Yes nerd, so that Jon Anderson LP is in the shopping cart. 😎🎶
Don’t think I’ve heard any of these! Ha! But that’s what makes the world go round, we all like what we like. I enjoyed this! I may check out that Ian Hunter album, and maybe Deep Purple…lots of folks raving about them. 🎵⛄️👍🎼🎶❄️🎸
Hi Steve!!! I think it's really cool and "honest" showing also what albums were a disappoinment, you don't see many channels doing it..... you can't always pick great music. Anyhow it was really nice seeing The Black Crowes, Bruce D. and Purple so high in your list, but the coolest surprise has to be the Cure at #1!!! I guess it's never to late to "discover a classic band" like those guys...... cheers and be well
Hey Cristian! After recording I realized I had one more disappointment, and that was 'Ghost Stories' by BOC. I've tried listening to a few other Cure albums, this might be a one and done for me. Cheers!
Best Black Crowes album since Southern Harmony...possibly debut as I go between both as top! Incredible! As for the others, I've only streamed Gilmour and Airbag...both definitely worthy of vinyl imho. I suspect the same for many you showed. Solid list for 2024. Never been a Cure guy other. Might have to check it out as your recommendations are usually on point for me. Cheers bud! 🍻✌️🤘🎶🤘
Hey Mark! This one is the first Crowes album I bought since Harmony, and it is a gem. Sam here, I never had any need for any Cure music, but this album is just so damn good! Cheers!
Oh my God I am so stuck in the 1970s / early 80s. I don't get much modern music let alone buy much of it! I did enjoy the Israel Nash Osarker record, and got into an artist called Jonathan Hultén after seeing them supporting The Cult back in October, and have bought their previous 2 releases (neither from 2024) and pre-ordered the new one due out later this month. Worth checking out if you like Tim Buckley / Nick Drake (but with a huge twist!!). I do fancy getting the BD Mandrake Project. He played just down the road here this year but I didn't't get to go. And I also fancy that Black Crowes album after streaming it recently. Otherwise I'm just a grumpy old git who wishes it was still 1976!!
Hey Nick! You and me both, musically I could camp out in the 70's for the rest of my life. Glad you liked the Nash album! I am not a Buckley or Drake fan, but I know a few people who are, so I will pass along your recommendation. Cheers!
Thank you for giving Derek Sherinian the proper respect. 😀 I'm in the same boat with The Pineapple Thief. I should love them but it hasn't happened yet. I'll give Ten Stories another spin. The Mandrake Project really grew on me. The Cure at #1, shocker! I recommend Pornography for an album with a similar vibe. Cheers Steve!
Hi Steve! First, welcome back; second, this is a very ‘Yep, That’s Steve’ top 20 (and I love that!) - I am VERY surprised at your #1, which was my #2…. Disintegration is my favorite from them, just FYI. I’m trying out that Jon Anderson asap as I’ve heard endless numbers of people absolutely loving the Yes-ness of it 🤔👍 Glad you’re back!! Cheers-R
Thanks Richard! With the exception of the the Cure album, you are correct, it is a list that pretty much defines my musical taste. I'll give 'Disintegration' a spin. Cheers!
Great having you back Steve! Some of my top albums from last year are 1.Jon Anderson-True 2.David Gilmour-Luck And Strange 3.Tears For Fears-Songs For A Nervous Planet 4.Ritual-The Story of Mr.Bogd pt 1 5.Beardfish-Songs For Bleeding Hearts 6.Mr.Big-The Big Finish Live 7.Big Big Train-The Likes Of Us 8.Deep Purple-=1 9.Smashing Pumpkins-Aghoi,Mhori,mei 10.Whom Gods Destroy-Insanium again great to have you back Steve
@ No.😄 I stupidly bought a post the beginning of the night (without a tube. Just a rubber band). I wanted get closer. But, didn’t want to ruin my $30 piece of paper
I thought I'd know or have none of those but along came Bruce Dickinson and Deep Purple. ...and finally the Cure. Sorry I didn't pick up anything by my landsmenn in Airbag. Great look at your favorites Steve. Next the Cure? Disintigration and Wish (finally got both on vinyl this year, the latter I got with some Christmas gift money, my last record purchase so far). Then perhaps Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me My favorites are Disintigration and Seventeen Seconds.
Some need to have a look at, 2024 had a ton of interesting releases. I only have a top-10 of studio albums: 10. Beth Hart - You Still Got Me 9. DeWolfe - Muscle Shoals (
Nice favorite list of albums for 2024! Needless to say, it's always tough to narrow down the top five or three or two. I stopped the video a few times and gave Hawkwind and Slift a quick listening to, both will require a deeper investigation. As for The Cure, I don't have a suggestion for your next album as I never really took the time to listen to much of their catalog. I may have to do that. You have to be the king of box sets in the VC!
I just picked up a copy of 'Luck and Strange' today and only listening now (I didn't want to spoil it for myself through streaming). I REALLY love it- it's got a darker edge to it that I feel a lot of his solo work lacks that I figured Waters brought in. My other pick that I physically own is the new one from The Decemberists - otherwise I really dig the new Opeth and Judas Priest and Blood Incantation.
Hey Darcy! My only knock is that Gilmour is doing such a small tour, I would've liked to hear some of these live. Did I hear that Opeth went back to some "cookie monster" vocals on this one?
@@AisForAliceBisForBob Yes, they've done the growls as classy as you can - a vocal style that I typically get turned off from right away, but they work for me on here.
I need to make a New Year's resolution to buy more new music instead of living in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I do have the one Ian Hunter but haven't listened to it yet. You saw that I got it for $5. I need to look out for Richard Hawley, Phil Mogg and Cure albums.
This is a list I can get behind. If I get off my lazy butt and make this video, you’ll see we have some common picks. You also mention some albums that I don’t have but are on my want list and a couple that I took off my want list because of your original lack of interest in them after you purchased them and gave me your opinion. Example: Black Country Communion, etc. I am very surprised by your number one pick. Like you, I’ve never really had much interest in the band. Jesus, I hope you don’t become a vanilla guy who gets all his music opinions from “What music to say you like that makes you sound sophisticated “ magazine now😳. Come back to us Steve! In all seriousness, I love the video and it doesn’t even matter that I might disagree with a few picks. Great job
Hey Gary! I think only one song blew me away on the BCC. Don't worry, I don't think there is any danger of me going 'goth' or 'emo' on you. I know you love the evil and cynical Steve. Cheers!
Well, I'm glad not everything was a winner. I watched Alex's 25 albums of 2024, and I felt like I had to get all the ones I didn't have, which was 23 albums, I think. I have never been interested in The Cure, not even in 2024 when everyone was going crazy for the new album. But, Steve, if you like it that much, and you have no Cure albums like I don't, then maybe I need to give it a listen. It might be the only Cure album I ever buy, but if it's that good, I should listen. I also need that Jon Anderson album. Everybody loves it! But first, the winter heating bills.
Hey Peter! There was a stretch when I thought the Anderson album was going to be # 1, but the Cure album did me in. Put on a sweater and buy more music! Cheers!
I don’t think many of my purchases would qualify under your specifications since I’ve bought many that were pre 2024 either rereleased or prior to. Now I’m very curious about the cure album. I’ll have to stream it.
Well this may be a shocker for you but I had three of these albums. Black Crowes rated high on my list. I just got Black Communion ( took 6 months to get) and I was not impressed , too formulaic. Gilmour, I liked the guitars but not the singing. Best hard rock album for me came out from Denmark is Lydsyn. That things rocks so freaking hard. Are it 4 albums, I did have the Cure and it made my list also.
I just took a listen to the first song off the Lydsyn album, and ordered it right away! As a fellow Scandavian, you might want to checkout Vidunder or Horisant. Thank you Steve!
@ thanks Steve I will check those groups out. FYI Lydsyn is pronounced Loot Soot. I have a VC friend in Denmark that helps me with all things Danish lol
Not familiar with The Dead Daisies (or many other of these tbh lol) but I feel you on Foo Fighters. The first 3 Foo albums are great - after that SUPER boring rock. I wish I was a Cure fan because boy that album is getting some high praise!
Hey Darryl! So many bands out there, no way to be familiar with all of them. But that is one of the great things about the VC, I have been turned onto a number of bands. Cheers!
@ so true. I’m really bad at trying, or even knowing about, new bands. I have very basic music in my life. It’s definitely gotten better once I got involved with the community.
Shocking news from Omaha: Dewolff-Muscle Shoals gets my nod for aoty 2024. Nudged Moggs Motel out of cd player, lol. Edit #1: Love that Cheap Trick shirt, hate the Cubs. Go Pirates.
Hey Brian! My copy of 'Muscle Shoals' arrives today, can't wait as I have heard nothing but high praise. Not a Cubs fan either, and Roberto Clemente is my all-time fav player. Cheers!
“I’m gonna file that under this doesn’t have legs”😂…I bet David Atkinson has that Steve Hackett record. Thank you for sending me that Hawkwind CD. That arrived right before we left Natick. Hey Mike! The year is only 7 days old, so plenty of time for more surprises. The Cure Embryonic approved and gluten free. Cheers!
That’s a nice looking shirt you have on there, sir.
Noticed that did you? Thanks Emma!
Interesting list! I agree with you about the the Dickinson album , it’s way better than i thought it would be, i think 2 that you showed would make my top 20, great job Steve👍🤘🤘
Hey Aaron! Yes, a surprisingly good album from Bruce. Cheers and thanks!
Hey Ed! Good way to save time and money. If that is where your "nerdom" hangs its hat, you will most likely be very pleased. Thanks!
Good to see you back, Steve. Great list. Need the Anderson still. Nice to hear your thoughts on it. Cheers, Jeff
Thanks Jeff! Helluva of a return to form for Anderson, and me......
Don’t think I’ve heard any of these! Ha! But that’s what makes the world go round, we all like what we like. I enjoyed this! I may check out that Ian Hunter album, and maybe Deep Purple…lots of folks raving about them. 🎵⛄️👍🎼🎶❄️🎸
Hey Matt! Come 'round to this side of the world, the view is great from here! Cheers!
@ ha! I’m good! Lots of cool stuff in this neck of the woods too!! 😂😊👍

Intriguing list. I still haven't heard Luck and Strange. Man, the Jon Anderson album cover! I'm surprised to see the Cure on the list!
Hey Brian! I too am shocked at my # 1 pick.
Great having you back Steve! Some of my top albums from last year are
1.Jon Anderson-True
2.David Gilmour-Luck And Strange
3.Tears For Fears-Songs For A Nervous Planet
4.Ritual-The Story of Mr.Bogd pt 1
5.Beardfish-Songs For Bleeding Hearts

Thanks so much Thomas! I keep hearing a lot about the Ritual album. Cheers!
Great list! Thanks for the shout out!
Thanks Trev! Were you tripping your balls off?
@ No.😄 I stupidly bought a post the beginning of the night (without a tube. Just a rubber band). I wanted get closer. But, didn’t want to ruin my $30 piece of paper

Hey Doc! My copy of 'Muscle Shoals' arrives tomorrow. I don't know how I missed the release of it. Cheers!

Thanks Alex! I would like a report on my desk first thin Monday morning....

Yes to Jon Anderson, except for the album cover. 😄
Worst cover of 2024 😅
Hey Larry! Yes on both accounts!

Like you I came out of it thinking about the Jon & the Geeks and that Cure release.
@ I’ve done my hunting online for the best prices. But I need to wait until next month.
@ I like your thinking! I’ll tell my wife she needs a sweater too.
Welcome back Steve. You gave me some new albums I need to check out. Moggs Motel was my album of the year.
Thanks Eric! Good pick, Phil is in fine form. Cheers!
Deep purple =1 and jon Anderson true albums are my favorites of 2024
Hey Jack! The Anderson album was probably the most pleasant surprise of 2024. Cheers!
I don’t think many of my purchases would qualify under your specifications since I’ve bought many that were pre 2024 either rereleased or prior to. Now I’m very curious about the cure album. I’ll have to stream it.
Hey Greg! You don't have to follow my rules, go with your own. Please LMK what you think of the Cure. Cheers!

Hey Jack! Don't let Sam or Alex know that, they gush over the Twigs. Cheers!
Doug gave the news that you were back with a weird channel name.
Weird enuf that even I could find it!
Thanks Mr. Ed! Doug is a good egg. Cheers and thanks for hunting me down!
