My brother in law and I are going to copy this same trip in the spring. We're going to leave kayaks where you put in. Very good info. Thanks. Just subed.
I live about an hour away from Columbus, in Springfield. Cool to see a backpacker that lives so close! After watching your Zaleski hike I went out there and did the loop as well. Looking forward to your coming videos!
Man I love your videos bro. Super informative and helpful. I practice several things I've learned from watching you on my bushcraft outings. Keep em coming
Very awesome trip brother! Enjoyed the views very much. If not be able to pass up that one site that was downhill off the side of the trail. By that creek....too sweet. I'm starting to wonder if I'll get replies to any of my comments. Lol Be well brother Craig
Man what a trip ! some of the nicest views I've seen on a hiking video, couldn't believe how tall and straight those tree's were, beautiful river too. Sucks you lost your passport but this was an amazing trip !
Great video Kyle and great location which I'd never heard of before. I think you did extremely well to hike thirty miles and then raft nineteen. Hope you find your passport ATB
Great trip Kyle , have you ever been to Ricketts Glen State Park its about 30 mins from there they have great waterfalls. I am now going to go to the grand canyon of pa after seeing this video.
It was great to meet you and share a campsite on this trail last week! Thanks for sharing some knowledge and experience with a new backpacker. I camped at 9:20 my first night. What were some of the Ohio hikes you suggested again?
Hey man, cool hike/float. So you know, unless you're hitting some class III and up, there's no reason not to strap the backpack on top of the "rear hump" of the alpacka. I have a lightly-modded Mule, and that back hump is where I put the multi-day trip stuff. In the front (where you had your backpack), I usually have a small dry-box strapped down, which also doubles as a gopro stand. My buddy has the same arrangement on his Mule, so there's probably some passing footage of his Mule on my channel if you care.
Looked like a load of fun bro. Solo hiking and camping is a lot of fun, maybe coz I have no friends that like camping lol What Brand pack raft do you have and do you recomend it?
New sub here. i really enjoyed your video. You mentioned your watch later in the vid. I was wondering what was the name? Can't wait to watch the rest of your vids. Thanks
PiperCub49 I just used the Salomon shoes. There is no reason to carry the extra weight of another pair of shoes. The water was kind of cold but not that bad. If it was spring time and I was doing this trip I would bring neoprene socks and the Salomon shoes.
Nice video! You do a really good job of describing the trail and how often you take breaks, but I'm curious, how long do you typically rest for on your rest breaks?
What was the name of the hiking path you took and river. I'd like to make a road trip from ontario and do it. Just got my first packraft and looking for new spots
Yea I ended at the Northern Terminus. If you walk down the road that goes Into the trail head parking lot you will walk right up to the river. I found a little gravel area near a bridge and put in.
Brian Theriault Not yet. I carry aqua seal glue and a patch. I also have a small role of Tyvek tape and some alcohol whips. The tape really sticks to the pack raft material.
looked like a blast, man!
Fantastic video kyle . Beautiful country. . Thanx for taking us with you
Great video as usual. Beautiful scenery thanks for taking us with you. Cool little raft also.

Cool outing! That's some pretty country!
Great videos, man. Keep up the great work. I like your detail and enthusiasm, and learn new methods, and discover gear suggestions via your vids, too.
KrisMTL Thank you!
Epic video!
Great video Kyle and great location which I'd never heard of before. I think you did extremely well to hike thirty miles and then raft nineteen.

Man that looked fun. Just found your channel. Sucks about your passport though but that trip must have taken some of the sting out of it.

Good point. It would make seeing out easier. Thanks!
Looked like a load of fun bro.

Outdoorscout Thanks for watching. I use the Sunnto Core watch.
What an epic hiking idea to hike up and raft back out! Did you wear the Salomon shoes during the river run or switch to water shoes of some sort?
PiperCub49 I just used the Salomon shoes. There is no reason to carry the extra weight of another pair of shoes. The water was kind of cold but not that bad. If it was spring time and I was doing this trip I would bring neoprene socks and the Salomon shoes.
I am hoping to do this trip in September. I am really hoping water levels are as high or higher. Where did you park? Rattlesnake rock?
Joe has your passport, he's messing with Ya! JK, Great video brother, thanks for sharing!
Nice video! You do a really good job of describing the trail and how often you take breaks, but I'm curious, how long do you typically rest for on your rest breaks?
I take a rest break for maybe 5 minutes every 45min to an hour. Depends on how I feel. I normally take a 20-30 minute lunch where I take my shoes off.
Do you have the "Enhanced Driver's License"? That can be used for trips to Canada.
What was the name of the hiking path you took and river. I'd like to make a road trip from ontario and do it. Just got my first packraft and looking for new spots
Where exactly did you put your raft in? Did you put in prior to the Northern Terminus? Planning to do this loop in October. TIA
Yea I ended at the Northern Terminus. If you walk down the road that goes Into the trail head parking lot you will walk right up to the river. I found a little gravel area near a bridge and put in.
Where were you living, when you did this hike, Ohio? How did you end up in California?
This is epic man. Where did you get your raft?
Alpacka raft
Alpacka raft. Yak model
Possible Killarney trip down the road? I hate passports.
Nice video! I'm glad you have your own channel Kyle cause I don't have to listen to that skinny Canadian dude you hangout with, lol jk'n of course.
you check your glove compartment?
can you upload or leave a link for your route or where you got your maps
if you google "pa hikes west rim trail" its the second link.
thanks and the water was pretty calm i didn't see a ton of rapids
It was late spring so the water level was low. There were no real rapids. I think its pretty rocking in Late March though.
thanks a ton thinking about going in April or May
Awesome video! I realize the Alpacka raft is highly durable but I'm curious if you have ever had to repair it out in the field? Thanks for sharing.
Brian Theriault Not yet. I carry aqua seal glue and a patch. I also have a small role of Tyvek tape and some alcohol whips. The tape really sticks to the pack raft material.
Thanks. Can't wait to use one of these.
