    I am about 180lb and have tried a few different boards. i surf 3-5x/week in season here in TN and love it. We can surf 8-9 months of the year. Is it an advantage to jump having a longer or shorter board? I am still playing with the wake and have heard that the wake is firmer with higher boat speeds so I will play with that this summer too. Is boat speed a big factor in jumping? Is boat speed a factor with other tricks like 360s? How much does Noah weigh? Is it an advantage to be lighter and therefore to be able to use a shorter board for tricks? I am blessed to have purchased a used Supra 550SE and so have the ability to make a great wave.

      Mark, speed can play a big role in many things so finding that right speed is pretty important but can be subjective from person to person. If you get below 10.8 it's going to get pretty mushy and hard to get off the wave for most boats and boards. If you get above 11.6, most boats are going to start to plane too much and the wave height will begin to decrease. "Most boats", so somewhere between there. Start w 11.2 and go from there. Board to weight ratio is pretty important but w that boat, you should be able to ride whatever board you prefer, and use it to get air. Make sure you're starting at the back of the wave and get speed. Like Noah says, don't bottom turn or your speed will be lost. Pushing the tail down is key and if you know how to ollie a wakeboard, it helps but isn't necessary. Just understanding the concept. Hope this helps some.

      @@Shaun.Murray Thanks Shaun. We have played a bit with the speed. The wave is harder the faster we go. I am hoping to surf a lot this summer. Just social distancing some.😁. The last couple times out we have gotten the wave dialed-in really well! I mostly have skim style boards with short fins. Would you suggest a board with longer fins for jumping?

    i grew up skateboarding, snowboarding and surfing in CA - now landlocked in Austin, TX - and have picked up wakeboarding and wakesurfing - when you do an air, do you "ollie" like you would while skating (like maybe on a 1/4 pipe or 1/2 pipe) or is it a different motion? love these vids. keep them coming!

    It's still a couple of months to go here in Blighty before we hit the water (not including the one or two, crazy deep freeze wakeboarders. "It's cold!"). So always appreciate the opportunity to see folks enjoying the water at this time of year from around the world. Any wakeskating likely? Stay happy dude ;0)

    Hey Shaun, what temperature are your lakes in the winter? As a Canadian, I always laugh when I see the good folks of Florida wearing wet suits. I live near the Canadian rockies and most of our lakes in the summer are around 70-75 degrees. Some mountain lakes only get to 65 degrees. There are a few lakes in southern British Columbia can get as high as 80-82 mid summer.

    • @Shaun.Murray
      @Shaun.Murray  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      StuntMike, I too used to live in the cold, in St. Louis, and the lake would freeze. Spend a little time down here and your blood thins. That stacked on top of the humidity, makes for some cold feeling days:)

    • @jonathanskillman4646

      Ryan Nelson I used to have a 97 sport. It’s possible but kind of dangerous. Sink the one side really deep and it will put out a good wave. You really have to have that one side swamped. I never had much luck using a wake shaper.
