Honestly the only thing that pushed Rapier up was the changes to Flurry, give it the ability to stack up Bleed too. This allows the Rapier to Have an exceptionally quick and strong burst combo, that combined with passives and other perks, can be very insane in the right hands. The Bleed Rapier has pretty much always been this way. The additional of another bleed source just amped its potential up quite a bit by increasing the speed at which you cna get that burst of damage out. I know previously you had to do this whole fancy rotation to get to that fairly quickly, with or without additional CDR perks. Now it's been simplfired to one basic rotation really.
I love your videos, Duke. Absolutely brilliant. Bravo! I think another great video to make would be the proper DPS rotation for SnS, Rapier, Spear (LA), and WH (LA). I don't DPS much in dungeons, aside from healing or tanking. I have DPS ward sets, but I would like to know what I am doing as DPS to maximize my effectiveness. Cheers!
Started playing with the spear on my fresh start toon a few days ago. I thought it felt like higher dps than I was expecting. Good to know it wasn't all in my head!
Great stuff and good presentation. Very interesting to see. As a hatchet user from launch I am a bit sad! A video rating group composition from S+ to D would be good. The best is always interesting but figuring out builds for maximum utility I think would be useful for a lot of players. I've been pugging a bunch of standard forge runs as DPS or tank and there is a very wide range of ability and gearsets out there. There is not much of a difference for individual players in their gearsets if everyone is working together. What is the maximum utility DPS build? (Probs spear based, plus GA or GS for CC effects or even hatchet if healing suspect)
Everyone also remember you have to take the mutation into consideration. The rapier is terrible when its void. Because of the silences. It completely stops all your major DPS
Well, rapier is gonna die soon. Now, I wouldn't care if it's just bleeds because I prefer evade rapier, but we all know they'll just neuter rapier as a whole. Bleed needs to be turned down a bit, but the rest needs to be untouched or slightly buffed. Passives like the 8% dmg buff to the little swipes or the dmg buff when below 40 stamina, which barely works because you're usually full
since only one runeglass dot can be ticking on a mob at a time wouldn't it be better for most classes to go with Sight or Punishing instead of an elemental runeglass? that way you get the flat 5-8% dmg increase without having to worry about losing your dot dps
The whole theme of the update is fire and buffing the fire staff and it's still trash. To make it worse, PvP is going to make them nerf it so it becomes even more trash.
Well these idiot devs are just nerfing everything and listening to all pvp and youtubers the game has gone down hill and not playing anymore as of today.

Even that isn't enough. 😂 Honestly the trapper tree needs to go away for good. Traps are garbage. The bomb is ass and it's passives are worse. It should be a contact explosive that is thrown on click, not hold like a grenade. I personally would love to see some combos rather than just point and shoot
should just be deleted at this point, its crap in PVE, junk in PVP now. Making it good in PVP will just break it and make it an annoying sniper weapon again. Should remove it and replace it with a crossbow or something if they really feel the need for some other kind of OP ranged weapon. no HITSCAN though.
I don't see how the Ice Gauntlet is ranking as high as it is, especially against enemies that don't take extra Frost damage. Are the numbers assuming "perfect" Ice Spike aiming/triggering so that the target is eating all 4 hits 100% of the time? If so, I think that's far more unrealistic than any assumptions about other weapons. If not, I'm extremely interested in how the build actually functions. Using the Ice Gauntlet as a competitive primary DPS weapon is really interesting to me, but I just don't see how that's actually the case right now. It's obviously fine as a secondary, as long as you're not using the Pylon in cases where it can pull extra adds and whatnot...and don't mind losing the power of CC/debuffs available to other weapons.
This chart doesnt make much sense without a C tier. The only "big" jump in the lower tier is from Warhammer to Firestaff with ~400dps and after that is a gradual rise by ~200 dps so why is there a jump from D tier to B tier? Fells like its just to dunk on certain weapons.
You might be right still i believe greatsword and spear are nice combo to have for any dungeon but GS is still my preference, because it gives u nice debuffs including DOT(bleed) and 50con builds are good to run idd, I personally can't think that rapier is good enough to deal with the dungeon, it might be good for the boss but beside that on the packs of mobs, especially if u have decent grp where u lure 5-6 + mobs at once i'd never see it as a "top dps" GS would out perform it highly.. also u can use gs to root, group mobs etc while rapier is just selfish weapon also if we talk about "DPS" rapier would require consistant dmg to keep up it's "DPS" so it's 3 hits equal 1 hit of GS and in high keys if u run with 5 con it's really hard to maintain consistency p.s. this is personal opinion not an argument of any sort.

Jeez. Devs for New World have no idea what they're doing. Warhammer being super low at 7900dps while Rapier hits around 15609 dps is insanely poor quality control.
Been looking at fs dps a bit and was curious if you guys had 50 dex for the passivd crit chance and a keen awareness ring on as well. As far as I can tell, if you so then vicious is BiS but if not then keen is slight better. I was also curius if you guys tried a pillar and fireball only rotation with heavy attacks

Something wrong in this no? Stab from SNS is thrust which deals more damage to corrupted. How is the corrupted and ancient dps the same? Isn't the combo stab for 30% empower into light chain till empower gone into repeat?
The fire staff incinerate build is with fireball, pillar and obv incinerate? And do you spam heavy attacks for the reduction or just light attack on single target?
So I mainly use greatsword and hea y attacks. But I'll always swap to bot for Explo, Rapid, and Posion arrow combo and go right back to great sword instead of purely heavy attacks g with the great sword. I'd love to k ow how well that rotation does over other builds.

The difference too low so im doin now 130 str 150 dex 50 innt Surprisingly 50 int is + 10,% crit dmg so ... For me that works for the bosses Using rapier with bleed perk. Gs sonic

I woulf be interested in the dps of wind chill with the perk on weapon or armor. It actually does pretty high dps if you hit with the last 2meters. I would guess it deals higher dps than ice stormy or spike (in a realistic scenario where you dont perfectly hit the spike each time). Also is there some place to look up the combo used during these tests? I am rather certain that eg war hammer has highest dps if you mix heavy and light attacks rather than just using one or the other.
@@violetziegler True. Something like Blunderbuss + Fire Staff would be pretty nice to see as well as they are both a bit lackluster inbetween combos but if you use both together they can fill each others dps lows.
I'm a bit sad the FnF tested was with tondo instead of evade, which I am almost certain would be more dps, not only because of the animation cancels, but also because of the busted weapon perk.
Now I'm so Conflicted if I want to keep my greatsword and great axe build or switch to a spear after this info and watching the game play it makes it looks fun
You are using X-R's testing sheet... His BB testing was under false conditions, he used the wrong abilities to max dps. I have already talked with him about it and he didn't do any further testings to adjust his numbers on the sheet. We only compared our own test results. BB is much higher. He used the bug with claw shot which didnt end up in higher dps than using Netshot and clip abilities into your bullet amps
I'm very curious how BB could be "much higher" based on switching out an ability that to my knowledge would only provide a very minor damage increase, but I'm also not quite understanding what attack chain you want to use. Since you seem sure that this is the case, feel free to record yourself comboing a dummy in the way that you think will result in this DPS increase until the dummy is completely out of health. Happy to check the results and add a correction if you can provide that. Ideally send me a message on discord or @ me Twitter when you're done, TH-cam comment notifications are very inconsistent!

Spear has always been good to be honest. It was my main PvE weapon long before this update.

As a noob one thing that seems confusing is the war hammer just festroys enemies like 2x more damage than many weapons. Is this still accurate?
I use ga,gs in corrupted that way my ga i can group mobs and apply bleed, then use my gs to finish them off....

Also sword and shield 10% dmg buff is a huge buff. In a own group I run as tank with buff.

Yeah, definitely. You would be lacking a bit on the aoe side though since much of IG is single target.

This 100%. Rapier is mid tier these days in pvp, but in pve, with omni evade on weapon, rapier still owns, no tondo required lol

Currently, there's not all too much benefit in it, but next patch that's definitely an option! Will make a video about it soonish!

By the way, if you have Blood Letting on your ring, the Rapier's damage is insane. Like actually unbelievable.
