- After sailing with M/V Theresian Stars of the same company Roble Shipping Lines. I am now onboard M/V Joyful Stars on a night trip from Hilongos, Leyte to Cebu City, Philippines. I am happy to experience and share to you this Barko Vlog onboard a 52 year old ROPAX and the former Cebu Princess of the now defunct Sulpicio Lines Inc.
Despite length of service she is still reliable in terms of her accommodation and amenities. She also departed on time and I think arrival was fair enough for me like an overnight ferry. She is serving Leyte and Southern Leyte to Cebu City, Philippines and vice versa.

When Roble acquired her from SLI more than ten years ago, the Cebu Princess went through some renovations prior to being renamed as Joyful Stars. The exhaust funnels were elongated, the front economy section near the bow got enclosed and converted to additional cabin and suite rooms, added restaurant and dining amenities, added windows at the cargo deck area and side walkways. And like the Theresian Stars, the aft KTV bar was also added next to the economy rest rooms.

back when i lived in Cebu when i was 5 years old, whenever me and my mom visit my cousins in southern leyte this is the ship I rode almost every time, and now this ship is part of my childhood, and im relieved that the ship survived Typhoon Odette.

Really nice and tidy RORO vessel Mark considering her age, just the restrooms could do with an upgrade. She is looking a lot better and cleaner than some of the other vessels that I've traveled on from Cebu with another shipping company who I won't name. Happy and safe sailings.

Damn can't believe this ship still in service, nakasakay ako sa ship na ito when I was a young kid, she was plying Cebu-Nasipit at that time.

Both Joyful and Theresian Stars are the only sole survivors of Sulpicio Lines until now which still makes there ships more reliable despite with their age.

@@nhechelxciirheii3372 you are correct and she is already the Trans-Asia 10 of TASLI while both the Cagayan and Cebu Princess was acquired by Sulpicio in the 80s while Princess of the Earth came to Sulpicio in 2005 until she was suspended after the sinking of the MV Princess of the Stars in 2008 and sold 2 of their ships to Roble Shipping.
I used to take this route before as an alternative for Cebu Ormoc route, it’s not that bad even though the ships before were smaller it’s an overnight trip I was able to meet some new friends .. This ship is awesome despite of her age . They really took good care of her hopefully she’s still be around on my next vacation . I would love to try this ship . Again , thanks for sharing .

You’re always welcome my friend. Ormoc route was always my choice but if I want more adventure I try Hilongos route . It’s not that bad at all .
