  • Growing up, fishing was second nature to Emilie Björkman, being raised in a family where both her mom and dad cherished the outdoors. At the age of 15, Emilie fell in love with fly fishing and almost a decade later she caught the first wild Baltic salmon (salmo salar).
She remembers that as a life changing event and when becoming a mum of her own, she reflect on her own childhood and her role as a mum - while pursuing her lifelong passion: fly fishing for salmon un the unspoiled rivers in northern Sweden.
Home rivers recycled is a fly fishing documentary is shoot by the wild rivers in northern Sweden during the summer of 2022, above the Arctic circle and below the midnight sun.
The story revolves around the love for the outdoors and act of passing on a passion through generations. But also, it’s a portrait of the incomparable lifestyle that comes with salmon fly fishing and the people devoting their lives to understand and support this spectacular species. The Baltic salmon is a true survivor who went from the verge of extinction in the early 1990 to living a prosperous life in many rivers of northern Sweden.
Home River Recycled also features Lars Munk, Gustav Hellström, Anna-Lena Björkman and Thomas Johansson, among others.

The fact that "Fishing and Hunting" was an option at your school just blows my mind. I definitly grew up in the wrong place. It's amazing to see a fishery moving agaisnt the current like this. Imrpoving and becoming more healthy. Just fantastic!

Fish til hunger, eat anything, fish til exhaustion, drop and sleep where she stands, wake up and eat, and then into the river and fish, she is wonderfull. I understand the hunger and obsession of it all, being there, seeing and smeling the woods and the water, trying to take it all in and never forgetting any of it, so hard to explain to people who dont flyfish for salmon, the need to go to the river, i to get a depression when the seson is over.

Great video to watch! It shows the great passion and protective work for the nature of the baltic salmon run! And of course it a priviledge to have a government who realizes the failures of the past and have the guts to correct it! Hope it will stay this way but in the end all the dedicated people will make the difference!

Great film !! I grew up on a Baltic River and heard the stories from the old timers on how the fishing use to be and unfortunately as a kid i never got to experience it. Things are better now and hopefully continue. As a steelhead angler we face the same challenges in Canada now and its such a shame 😔 Thank you for taking the time to make this film and I hope it inspires and changes the minds of those who need it!

As a young father with a little less time for my passion, I feel a bit stucked from time to time... So I was particularly touched by Emilie's words about family and time spend by the rivers... As she said, it is a need and hopefully it makes her being a better mom.
Keep protecting your ecosystems, your wonderful part of the world, and sharing good practices and vibes for the coming generations !
    All the best,
    Kevin

A terrific documentary on a terrific country and its awesome salmon. Irish rivers once produced amazing runs of big salmon. The Nore (my home river) and the Boyne were renowned 'big fish' rivers, along with the mighty Shannon. My father's personal best salmon weighed 35lbs, but he had both seen and lost bigger fish. Today, lots of our famous salmon rivers are but a shadow of their former selves. Some rivers are still good...like the Moy, Cork Blackwater, etc. It is hope eternal that keeps us going...the burning desire to restore and protect our once prolific, healthy rivers.
