In this video we take a look at the progress that NIO is making towards building their new factory in NeoPark, Hefei. NIO today began installing equipment at its second plant at NeoPark.
NIO announced the news in its app this evening, saying that the equipment installed at this time involves stamping, bodywork, painting and final assembly, and that its automation, intelligence and environmental technology indicators have reached industry-leading levels.
The plant is the first in NeoPark, and the first model it produces will see a tooling trial prototype roll off the line in the second quarter of 2022, with the production car coming off the line in the third quarter of next year, NIO said.
The plant uses state-of-the-art equipment of which 70% is from local suppliers, said Ma Lin, NIO's senior director of corporate communications and public relations director.
NIO's factory started construction in NeoPark on April 29 and completed the main steel structure on August 26, and its main building was completed and accepted earlier this month.
According to a report by local Hefei News Channel on October 13, the factory will have a total floor area of 437,000 square meters and will be able to produce 300,000 units per year when it reaches production.

The nearest Shell station to me with charging is over 20 miles away... a single charger tucked away, prone to be ICEd and with only 50kWh...
like I say, they are not taking this seriously,
In Norway you see forecourts removing gas pumps and putting in 350kWh fast chargers on the actual forecourt. Shell are in no way taking this seriously. it's greenwashing.
its the et7 not the es7 and its not june its end april 2022 delivery

Will this plant build the et7 and et5 model's for nio? 🤔
If so that's going to be a big win for nio. Plus they just announced a charging initiative with shell.
Chances are high for producing ET5 there but it's still not confirmed by the company. For the Shell part that could be a good partnership for NIO. More deals like that one make NIO's brand reputation grow around the world.
@@StackingCash I'm a bit excited to see this et5 model. I honestly feel it could be the first legit tesla model 3 competitor from a true automotive peer ev manufacturer and sold globally. If it looks like a jr edition of the et7. And is priced right, nio will have a hit on its hands.
300k total unit's isn't even nearly enough though. Hopefully that's just initial production. 😁
The expeng p7 could also have competed against the 3. But it's not a global vehicle yet.
Plus it's supposedly sized in between the model s&3 with a softer ride and slower acceleration.
You're right, 300k units isn't enough but it's a good step forward. It's not easy building a factory and scaling vehicle production, but the important thing is the demand is there.
If we look at the coming years NIO will be looking not only to be dominant in China but expand its market to Europe as well. Each passing day that legacy automakers are asleep and unwilling to transition to EV is their loss and NIO's gain.
@@StackingCash wise words indeed, byd&geely aren't sleeping either. Reminds me of yamamoto after pearl harbor "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant" only this time the U.S. automotive industry is the one sleeping on evs. As an American it ticks me off to no end tbh. 😑
But as an ev advocate&fan for decades now, I say every ev otr is one less car polluting the air we all breathe. 👍🏻
Nio will have a big spike in 2022 I believe, once it reaches de 600k+ vehicles

@@bruinsusa Thank you for asking. I haven't seen information if it will be on a single or double shift. If I had to guess I would say double but I don't have additional information.

The day this plant opens it'll STILL be obsolete when comparing it to Tesla
Sure, Tesla scaled production much faster than NIO. But it's still a step forward for global EV adoption.
