    chattanooga choo choo is the name of that song.
    Bob listen to that stuff all the time!! It makes you feel back in the 40's when you're at the museum!!!

    I was there in April of - I think - 2010. My wife was in Milwaukee on business, so my son and I had an afternoon off. We called Bob, he came in on a Saturday. The museum is within a business, which was closed, but Bob gave the two of us a personal tour - probably 2 hours or more. It was amazing!!! I'm a serious microphone nerd, and this was Nerdvana.

    I am a microphone fiend and an audio geek, and with all that amazing gear in Bob Paquette's Microphone Museum... it MUST be said. The greatest thing there is BOB PAQUETTE himself. This man is amazing, and made our visit so personal. Afterwards, our family visited the Harley Davidson motorcycle museum nearby... it paled in comparison, despite the cool motorcycle collection there, because there was nobody at the Harley Davidson museum to tell personal stories about the exhibitions.. nor to share personal passion for the collection like Bob Paquette.

    I worked for Bob for almost 20 years. I managed to find a couple pieces for him. The largest is the RCA Mole-Richardson Mic Boom cart which I found in pieces at a Goodwill store. It took us two full days to reassemble it using old photographs and an original sales brochure as a reference. I still stop in to see him whenever I'm in Milwaukee.

    So I just stumbled across this man and his museum, after trying to look up his business and watching this video I’m guessing he either passed or closed up shop. I was looking for more info on some of my microphones. Fantastic video

    @ManBig4 I would suggest purchasing one on ebay. The completed auctions are showing the mic selling for $900. to $1,200. I just feel if you are not happy with the mic you should always be able to sell it for what you purchased it for. The pros of the TLM49 is that it is a Neumann. It features one of my favorite capsules the K47. It would be a good choice to start your mic collection. I'd be happy come down to San Diego, go to Guitar Center to test it out with you and help you get the best deal.

    @ManBig4 that sounds like a good plan. It is always smart to take a friend along as a second pair of ears. You can never check out a mic too much before you buy it. Can't make it this friday but I give me a few weeks and I'm there.

    Wow! Thankfully there are guys like him around. I have an old mic I am trying to identify and have not even been able to find anything remotely like it. It's built like a tank and might be valuable to a collector, and it still works well too! Anybody know where I contact him to find out more about it?

    I like this. I am trying to get a home studio down and make a small business out of it. I am looking at either the Neumann TLM 49 Condenser Studio Microphone or the Sterling Audio Sterling ST6050 FET Studio Condenser Mic Ocean Way Edition. Witch one do you think I should get??? Hope to hear from you. =)

    I'm sad to report that Bob Paquette died yesterday. Would you give permission to the Journal Sentinel to link to this video for their feature story? I've been sending them videos to consider linking to and this looks like a very nice one.

  • @TubeTestsShow
    @TubeTestsShow  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ManBig4 If your goal is to be a public/ commercial studio then you want to try to get a microphone that will draw clients. A Neumann U47, U67, M49 or AKG C12 will definitely be a draw as well as a great investment and tool. If those are not in your budget then I suggest contacting Robert at RMS audioworks and discuss him making a mic for your needs. Another company is FLEA mics and they make a mic called the Model A. If you live in LA I would be happy to help you find a perfect mic for you.
