I so agree with your reactions and comments from others! This portrayal of the Agony of the Garden grabs your heart with the struggle His humanity faces. Gets me every time! I have a playlist of Dan Vasc which I am always adding to. The top 3 are Amazing Grace, Gethsemane and For All (beautiful Roy Kahn cover). Then Grammy goes to Dawn of Victory and Burn, Butcher, Burn - LOL, my grandsons roll their eyes! But will admit he's amazing!
A few days ago I came across a video where Dan says singing also requires a bit of acting and that's precisely what he does. Whether it is serious or funny stuff, he always finds the right way to transport those emotions.
Dan did a cover of Kissed by a Rose that is a duet and is phenomenal. I do not think he's ever done a song that I didn't like and I've been a fan of his for a few years now. And, his native tongue isn't English, he's Braziian.

I am a MAJOR Gethsemane fan, and have heard maybe a hundred versions. There are technically great versions, there are passionate versions, and there is the Dan Vasc version, which is the perfect melding of the two.

That said, I often think and feel the pain and incredible depth of grief of the Blessed Mother Mary as she sees her beloved son be tortured and killed for humanity! Dan puts the essence of emotional strife in his music and brings us to our knees with Him (Jesus) and possibly his own deep spiritual connection! 🙏🏻🧔🏻♀️😉🙏🏻

Andrew Lloyd Weber and his lyricist (Tim Rice? Not sure without looking it up) captured the most important part of Jesus’ life in this song. It’s not the miracles, it’s not the teachings (though both are important.) it’s that, for those previous few hours in the garden of Gethsemene, Jesus the Messiah was just Jesus, son of Joseph. Not the son of God, the son of a carpenter. He knew God’s plan, he is God, but for this space in time, he was simply a man. Not divine, not all-powerful…just a mortal man, afraid of doing what had been asked of him to do. This is what let him die for our sins and rise up from the grave triumphant. For this bit of time, he was a mortal man and his faith carried him through. That is the only way his sacrifice would have worked. This is why Christianity works. Now, if only Christians still followed this.
