    This is the most honest review yet. Everybody seems to have so much shit to talk about Mitsubishi, but they only got rid of the evo because you cheap bastards weren't buying them brand new! Their cars/trucks have always been solid and reliable. This crossover is no different. Granted they shouldn't have used the legendary eclipse name, but it's a very well built SUV.

    • @glengarcia2739
      @glengarcia2739 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      db60615 But only reason why no one was buying brand new, is because they switched automatic only (2015) and kept the same design for way too long. They could have created a new generation that appealed to the always changing car demand

    • @db60615
      @db60615 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Now that I can agree with. They did keep that body style for 10 years straight. I just wouldn't complain about them discontinuing something that nobody was buying.

      These cars are incredibly gutless. Its painfully slow. To the point people blow the horn at you during a green light because it won't accelerate. Its also but ass ugly and third taking the eclipse name and slapping it on a terrible SUV pretty much shit on every thing good about the brand.

    • @parminderk9331
      @parminderk9331 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not because we weren't buying new one it's because they were modding the shit out first the eclipses 4g63s and then evos breaking it and then we're suing Mitsubishi for not fixing them. And these same guys are typing comments like this eclipse cross is is a dis grace and that grace. These self loathing folks cannot just say what's true.

    I just bought the 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Limited Edition this summer and I love it! You’re probably the first person I’ve seen in a review who like the back lights and the track pad. My car works great in gravel mode and I have no problems on pavement. Feature wise it’s great for the price and it’s good on gas too.

Something about being able to look down on the road. I mean look at something as small as the Ford ecosport, it may as well be a car, there's sedans with more interior space and larger trunks. The entire purpose is ride height.

Their profits increase 36% already this year already, selling vehicle only. They doing quite well, than some car brands, like GM right now. They closed down most of their plants and cutting off 6 brands, including Buick and Cadillac etc.

    • @Y10Q
      @Y10Q 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is not like Subaru wanted to do it. EPA is forcing car makers to become more fuel efficient. Thats why full size trucks are coming up with v6 and midsize cars are paired with 1.4l 4cyl. i am surprised subaru kept the 2.5l ; h6 is gone from the lineup. Just like Honda is dropping V6; turbo charged 2.5l with 300hp gets 15mpg

    Yes, Mitsubishi should bring back the 3000 GT, except that it would probably be a 3 row SUV now. This doesn't look like a bad car for somebody looking for this kind of car. I have a problem with calling it an Eclipse. This current trend of giving boring cars the same names as exciting models from the past has to stop. It doesn't make the new car (a 150hp tall hatchback that doesn't handle or accelerate) exciting. It puts a stain on the memory of an exciting car from the past (an AWD sports car with 200+ stock horsepower - a remarkable number I the 90s.)
    Now, let's all go watch Brian O'Connor ripping around in the original Eclipse in the original Fast and Furious and remember what an Eclipse was, not what it's become.

    Very nice review and entertaining-I laughed out loud at the kids drag racing deterrent comment. Would love to get Sarah’s impressions of the new Forester, beanless though it may be (I’d imagine it loses too much personality compared to her tuned XT)

      Unfortunately, they aren’t in the best financial situation, and they need to do what they can to make a profit. They know that crossovers are hot today, so they make that to survive. They aren’t really in a situation to make a car for the sake of keeping it alive.
      As incredible as it would be if they made the real eclipse still, it’s just not viable for them

    Mitsu should have never discontinued the full size montero. Bring it back. Bring the pickup back and bring back the original MPV van- really gear it toward families.

      @GTHoyaz76 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct. Mitsu had a van similar to the Toyota previa that was really cool. They need to bring that back. Lol.

      I find it hilarious that how people talk about being traumatized by minivans, but they have no problem driving homogenized crossovers and SUVs. Talk about snowflakes 👍

    • @GTHoyaz76

      Robert Morris I agree. I am an suv guy myself; Toyotas in particular, but I do enjoy my wife’s awd sienna every now and again. It’s our weekend family ride! I’d rather have a minivan than a crossover, especially if three rows are required.

    Mitsubishi had something amazing in the Evo and would've done really well if they would've made every Lancer an AWD to compete with Subaru. If the Eclipse would've had a serious engine and RWD, I would've wanted one.

      It's chest high, I own one. Most of these comments are from people that have never seen the SUV let alone driven one. Not an issue. There is more rear visibility than many other vehicles. Backup camera solves any serious issue that many SUVs have being high off the ground.

      William Friel It is a Modern Station Wagon, my 1996 corolla sedan was impeccable like new and performed well yes it was a lot more fun to drive from point A to B. When it was smashed by a large truck I was given a SUV rental to drive. Thankfully I was in a position to use my bicycle for commute instead of tipping over in such a high centered car. Backup camera was nice, but I had it for a 7.5 days and drove 20 miles. Felt like I was driving a cross country lifted truck that would tip over whenever I turned to go around a corner.

    • @timfox2344
      @timfox2344 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s 5’5” tall .... the suv is chest high. With the camera shot from the dash looking back ... the rear window is narrow with the wide rear pillars with the top & bottom windows separated by a thick padded cross piece. It’s a compromise.

    • @vegan4thefreeprizes166
      @vegan4thefreeprizes166 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I assure the split is at chest high level over 4 feet off the ground. Watch this video where the camera is facing the back window. You don't miss anything. Many new cars have back seat head restraints that block more back window space. If you have a personal problem with the split window that's fine but it doesn't make an impact on driving in the real world. You have a back-up camera and huge side mirrors. I have the merge warning, backup warning etc.

    Bought the Eclipse Cross a few weeks ago. The positive surprises where the steering, the quietness of the cabin, and the quality of the interior. The only minor weak spot for me is the on the suspension which feels great but can get a little noisey on bumpy roads. Have gotten a lot of positive feedback from friends and family, even moreso than when I bought a new Mercedes 18 years ago.

      TH-cam guy Alex On Autos got 29 MPG combined with the Cross when he drove it for a week or two. I'm getting 27 mpg but my miles are mostly city. For an AWD this is pretty decent. It's still a 3500 lb car. Listen, we all buy cars for different reasons. I'm in the snow belt of Ohio and we get the lake effect and I needed A safe AWD. Also I drive less than 600 miles a month. MPG was not a major concern for me, I work from home.
