As a former skilled engineer in the aircraft industry I am still blown away by the incredible quality of Shawcraft`s products shown in this great little film, it`s mind boggling! Thanks for uploading for all us Dalek fans to see.

@@marlowe78 hi there. I use to work at the electricity board in waterloo road uxbridge, just around the corner from rockingham road. One lunchtime, while nopping out for abige to eat at the nearby shopping precinct, I thought I was going crazy when a Dalek chase me all round the precinct. It is only tonight I realised the thi gs were made (born?) in Rockingham road. But its a weird feeling being chased by one isn't it!
Thanks for this. Part of the wonder of Dr.Who was down to the amazing inventiveness of those behind the scenes on the show & in this case doing outsourced work for it. A lot of children & adults have wonderful memories of the program thanks to them, myself included. If you do not mind, I will add to my page for others to enjoy. :)
That was literally 2 streets down from where I lived. We actually saw a Dalek once, being carried down the stairs from that unit they are working in. I guess it was before the days they could levitate 😆😆
My Dad also Les Ward worked as a modelmaker for all my teenage life i spent many happy hours originally at iver heath and then at rockingham road helping out and making tea loads of super memories
Fantastic bit of history. That said, I shudder watching people making the Dalek hemispheres from fibreglass without PPE. Not even gloves. If nothing else, that stuff will make you itch like crazy.
Thanks so much for this, I have 3 Ford Models fro 1961 made by Shawcraft and at one time had a silver Corsair one, it could be the one shown in the film but I doubt it.
If you purchase the Dr Who dvd 'The Chase' there is another extra programme, explaining all that Shawcraft did, and how they came to end.I thoroughly recommend you watch that.
First seen in a Doctor Who series set in 1965 when the Daleks invaded Earth. That was when Carol Ann Ford who played the part of Susan, left the series in the final scene.
Great find. The Chitty model is just stunning. Real craftsmanship. A pleasure to see.

Fantastic video thank you... I have never wanted to go back in time just to sift through someone's dustbin before !!

I had a relation named Les Ward in Bucks

@@paulhalley6760 Thanks Paul, I will check it out.
@@paulhalley6760 Thank you Paul, really enjoyed this.
How I wish I had been alive in 1967 or even earlier than 1967
Does Dalek 63.88 know about this footage? Seems like the kind of thing that they would eat up!
Yes they did in their slythers video.
Fabulous!! Original and best daleks for me.
10:26-end: Macra from the Doctor Who episode: The Macra Terror.
It's nice to see it moving as I've only seen it in reconstructions and animations
Loving the swing wing VC-10 7:38
I hope no one from health and safety watches this, they'll have a fit with that fibreglass 🤣🤣🤣
Fascinating. And, as a sad un, I'd love to know what sound effects were used at which time stamp...
Fascinating - I have a model Vanguard Airliner made by them for BEA
Fantastic!
Even the contents of their rubbish skip would be full of what would now be considered valuable collectables.
I would have given much to do stuff like that...
@2:21 what is that odd wooden cog operating? The eye?
Yes
amazing craftsmanship. Sadly nobody does this anymore.
+Martine Naylor What are you even talking about?
So i suppose every prop ever made after 1967 just appeared out of thin air?
I do!!!
Sadly it is true, with cgi, many things that previously would have been made as a model now only appear as pixels
Weasley Car at 1:40
what dr who dvd is this off
The Chase
Why'd you open with the sound of the Daleks time machine
oh wait I see it was made in 1968
this isn't 1967 as there a thal Ray gun "thingy" from Genesis of the daleks
DnA_R3fleX that prop was re-used in genesis but was originally used in the 60s.

With the square green barrel? First used in Galaxy IV, with William Hartnell.
