Per the scenario book in the starter kit, you can adjust the scale either one of two methods: 1. Reduce all measurements by 1/2 or 2. Just switch all movements from inches to centimeters (the method I prefer; this is what I did when I converted Kings of War to 10mm and it works great!)
I dont mean to be so offtopic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me!
@Isaias Raiden i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Missed your videos quite a bit. They were keeping me going until the big starter set arrived, which it did. Today. Hopefully I’ll have a little more to offer, comment wise. Keep up the great work.
I remember someone asking me why people who have such lovely miniatures and yet 2d terrain . . . just can't remember who :) Another great video, very informative!
The comment below is correct that the Epic Scenario book suggests (not mandatory) reducing movent/firing by half or using cms. - something that was in the 28mm game as a suggestion for smaller tables. My issue is that they also note a standard regiment size as 5 bases (who would have guessed) up to 7 for large regiments, this took me by surprise. Afterall if you are going to use cms as your move/fire distance then surely this double the footprint size of the regiment on table? Although billed as epic, as it stands it looks like you need an epic table (8x5 or lerger) to get that - of course back in the day this is exactly what BP was aimed at club games or those fortunate enough to have set ups like the Perry twins. Personally, if I am to use BP as my ruleset, I can cope for small games by using a 3 base standard (4 large) but I am considering counting each full base as 2 (or even three stands) and cutting the spare infantry base you get in two or using the officer bases, to create the extra stands needed. Probably a moot point anyway as I a weigh up how to get the best bang for my buck from the starter set, I am looking at a 3 base standard, using some cutting and splitting to make the extra command stands needed using the Kallistra commands (£12 for 5 available maybe in july from warlord is too expensive). Three is a good footprint for regiment or brigade when I adjust scales for my battles - 2 also works for the Altar of Freedom or Polemos rules ). Been eying up the pendraken 10mm zouaves (want turbans and straw hats) and was wondering if these were based separately -- perhaps on a extra card shim for extra height -would they look too much out of scale. They do seem slimmer and more in line with Warlords body shape, compared to that of Kallistra?
Hi there some.good points on frontage. That's why I am going 3 bases. Means my colours are.in the middle of the lines. I hadn't though about raising slightly the Pendraken models. That.is worth investigating. I had a couple of units of straw hat Zouves in my older confederate army, I though they were nice.
Hi. New to wargaming. Thank your for your most helpful videos but I wonder where to find the second video in your BP beginners series? I counted 7 videos but I can't find the second. Can you help and point me to it? Thanks! :-)
Thanks for mentioning that, i think i changed the videos i was going to do, but didn't change the labels. I have been through them tonight, changed the titles so they make sense, and created a playlist of its own as well.
I think the ranges are going to be shortened. When my box comes in i will be able to confirm, and will do a video confirming. I have heard, either use cm's so 12 cm's instead of inches or half the measurements. I use 3/4 ranges in my normal games of BP at 28mm on a 6x4 table.
Why do you have a Army of Tennessee Cleburne’s division flag and a Army of Northern Virginia battle flag in the same regiment? And why are there two flag bearers in the Confederate ranks? Thank you for the videos you do a good job explaining the rules.
Hi there, Thanks for your comments. I have no real in depth knowledge of the Confederate flags as you can see, i put these together because it looked good. Not being American, i have no knowledge of state flags either. When i am in a position to base and finish all my forces, i am going to research which flags i need. It will be Antietam campaign. I will strip off flags and put what i need together. The 2 flags are a fudge, so that Warlord could produce 1 sprue. I like 2 flag units. Though with my Kallistra command bases, i will have several with only 1 flag.
Some Federal regiments carried two colors, one was the National the other the regimental. As the war ground down the the number of men in the regiment there weren’t enough men to carry both flags so mostly it was only the National carried which had the regiments Number on the middle red stripe like,100th PENNSYLVANIA INF. ( which my GGGrandfather served with at Antietam). Confederate flags can be really confusing as there were so many different types. General Lee standardized the flags in the Army of Northern Virginia. Research Don Troiani art for great references. I have so much 15mm ACW I don’t want to start a new scale but I am building 25mm ACW army’s at present. Again thank you for producing theses videos for all to see.
For basic play the starter set has what you need to play. So you don't need. I already had glory hallelujah and was already up to date with the system.
Every terrain road that everyone bought is now obselete as you now need roads double the width ....and roads in an acw scenario will now look like 3 lane motorways ( highways ).
@@Unclecthulu The figures are stunning and you've done a great job in your videos. I just wish warlord had made these figures 4 wide or even 5 at a push as I said roads and snake fences look sweet on a gaming table.
Does the rulebook have historical battles? I'm looking for historical , not balanced. The challenge is refighting the battles with the real forces used.
Yes it does. The main rule book has an Antietam and Kernstown refights, Glory Hallelujah supplement has 9 scenarios. Black Powder does go out of its way to support scenarios. So much so the AWI supplement does not have army lists !
I like your confederate paint scheme. Good job. I was never a fan of black powder though. It’s extremely random movement with parts of your army stuttering and standing still but other parts triple moving and accelerating to deploy in the enemy army’s grill while they seemingly stand there and do nothing.
Yep it does have it's foibles, but most battle plans have ebbs and flows often out With the overall commanders control. I like the simple approach in Black Powder to friction and orders. An ADC may be shot, a Cavalry Brigade charges the wrong guns. Fortunately wargaming is a broad church. What is your go to set of ACW rules?
@@PaperSmiles I agree. There needs to be friction in a games command and control. Black Powder’s friction is just too extreme and too random for me . In the games we played the general’s plans were pretty irrelevant in the face of the dice is all. Just not a set for me or my gaming group is all.
Good point, I was going to cover commanders in a later video. Basically they can move after they have issued orders, but before you move your next commander issues orders. Simply move then however you want, up to 48, if mounted. There are also a few extra rules for them. I will cover in 'special' rules.
What an absolutely fantastic set of vids!! Thank you so much for your leadership and sharing on this new set of minis and the way to play with BP!
Thankyou

Nice, thankyou for the clarification.
Best thing about using cm in 10mm is you can play with what would, functionally, be a 15’x8’ table on a standard 6’x4’ table 😂
for almost $50 for a rulebook, why would you have to make any changes yourself?
Your way of explaining is very good !
All these lovely looking figures lined up for battle, brilliant, very helpful walkthrough, all the best, Garry

Glad I found your channel. I'm working my way thru your series on ACW. Where did you get your flags? I have 20mm ACW miniatures that I'm painting up.

They are the new Epic Battle system from Warlord Games, about 12mm. Compatible with Kallistra.
@@Unclecthulu apparently they call them 15mm
hi griff
Do you scale inches to centimeters or use original ranges for everything?
Hi there, i think i will be scaling to CM's. In regular games with 28mm on a 6x4 table i reduce sizes by 1/4.
Nice paint work.....too small for me.
