Absolutely 100%. honestly not even a question for me. IMO it's Assassin in the truest form. and def makes the gameplay much more challenging and rewarding
I believe it should depend on the character and what we know about them. For example Edward is a pirate first and foremost so he's less likely to be as Ghost-like compared to someone who has been with the brotherhood for a long time, he may use some ghost-like qualities but not entirely. As an example, in the books he hired some "dancers" to help get into the Castillo to retrieve the crystal/satchel with the documents, an example of using social stealth prior to joining the brotherhood. But then of course as a pirate a certain brutality would be expected compared to someone like Altaïr or Ezio. A great video and very insightful I appreciate the viewpoint beyond just gameplay and I feel tempted to try and implement ghosting where possible in the next playthrough of a game
Something that I’ve always wanted to in Assassins Creed is to give us the option to go Full Batman Mode, like in Splinter Cell: Blacklist. To let us have as much Non-Lethal options as there was Lethal.
The fact that we did not lose synchronisation or get a desynchronisation warning by killing guards in early AC games means that, unlike civilians, they don't count as innocents, or that the ancestor did kill them.
I'm currently streaming my attempt at a ghost run of the entire series. I'm going a step further and making sure even civilians don't see my Assassin actions. I'm going to be in shambles by the end of this lmao
Honestly the main reason i like stealth games so much nowadays is because of videos of people ghosting perfectly in AC I realized going for that perfection is super satisfying when you pull it off but agitating when you fail Especially over and over
The real Assassins from history, the ones depicted in ac1, would only kill their targets. Usually because after they struck their mark they would be spotted and most likely killed. Fun fact, their weapon of choice was poison arrows, but they liked daggers too if they could get close enough without getting noticed while blending with the crowd.
Imo Yes! An assassin should not kill Anyone other than the target unless it is necessary Most guards i are just doing their job Additionally, Templars should not be seen as target practice for assassins. Without a valid reason, killing a Templar who is not a target should also be considered an innocent kill. Assassins are not morally superior to Templars in any way. By the way, thank you for suggesting Kingdom Come: Deliverance! It’s such an amazing game. I haven't binge-played a game like this since Cyberpunk 2077, which I consider a 10/10 game.
@@TheMaudeth Yes the only thing I don't like about KCD is the combat is mainly optimized for 1v1 combat but most of the time we had to fight multiple enemies even after I learned to fight multiple opponents it still doesn't feel right Other than that combat is so satisfying and the audio design for combat is probably the best in gaming they feel so real
Yeah I always found it comedic that Ezio kinda slaughtered his way into the vatican just to last moment decide to make a statement about forgiveness or something. 😆
After the American CEO’s assassination in New York City recently, ghosting in AC games seems more realistic/doable now. Especially if you have an entire Brotherhood’s support and the assassination takes place in the past.
The problem with gameplay is that the quickest way to eliminate enemy to make them noy able to call reinforcements is kill them. The animations for knocking out someone is slow, and when you use sleep darts they are easy to use up. And sometimes the game just doesn't give options of knock out.
As an added thought, if they were to make a traditional assassins creed game, with the proper parkour mechanics, splinter cells stealth mechanics, and proper cinematics with even halfway decent voice acting would be a miracle, it'd be like peak Ubisoft actually listening to us.
I tried to before but I did end up killing non-targets. I had like 118 kills(but pretty sure this was wrong since I reviewed my vod and only counted like 60kills). I did have an idea once to do a live stream with the permadeath mode where each stream would end if I get detected/kill non-targets.
@TheMaudeth I noticed the same thing when I did permadeath as well with the numbers being off. I couldn't find anyone who was trying to achieve this specific goal but I figured you of all people would be up to the challenge lol
II believe you should take in consideration the life the chartachter has outside the creed, for example AC Syndicate, takes in consideration that, in Eve being more an "true" assassin than jacob more a common street brauler, but that brings a fun an variety gameplay (aat least to me). For example hitman is a good mix because gives you better score from being an hitman, but also encourage you to have fun with the game. Now how valuable would this be in a game like AC? So i believe the point should be more that the brotherhood laws were/are bad for the game mechanics available. Or simply because guards are not to be considered normal people, but as active members of the templars (dumb, but hey ..) But yes on a perfect scenario you should only kill the targets. (should it be an "impossible" trophy to platinum AC games ? only kill the targets ? 🤣🤣)
Haven't watched the video yet but look at it like this. The time assassins were definitely the bad guys no better than templars (rogue) innocent people were killed for the sake of retrieving an item relating to Isu stuff. A morally good character or organization shouldn't be picking off every lackey in a hideout or bodyguard protecting a vip. Sometimes these people don't know what they got really hired to do. Other times they might know and don't have a choice be it because of need for money or they were fooled/trapped into it. And not all templars are that bad if it's templars you're killing left and right. Look at Arno's adoptive father I believe, who was friends with Arno's assassin dad. Elise wasn't that bad either. All in all. You know your target well enough to say they need to die but you definitely don't know the motivations or circumstances of the people under them.
It's "Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent" not "an innocent" just so you know because I know english isn't your 1st language neither is it mine. It is "the innocent" because it's all of the innocent people not one like you say "an innocent". This is not hateful just hopefully this helps.
Thanks. I used to say "the innocent' also. But per checking the Wiki, the right phrase is "an innocent". Either way, "an innocent" Or "the innocent" are both correct given the context of the sentence.
I highly recommend sticking to just the stealth videos as for lore you suck. 1- This criterion refers to the innocent population, not the guards, in fact, at least half of the AC's have corrupt guards, your Unity example is extremely hilarious and contradictory, did you know that the Unity guards (anti-revolutionaries) are just idiots who love to kill, torture and impose order just for money? The same goes for the guards in Rogue, Syndicate, Origins, Valhalla, Mirage and Odssey. 2- What are you talking about? You can perfectly be professionally stealthy and still eliminate the guards, just kill them without anyone seeing and hide the bodies (why do you think there are several hay and closets in the saga? Bruh). And the principle does not refer solely and exclusively to social stealth, in general, it states and orders never to cause any commotion or confusion, regardless of the stealth method used. And no, it's not that Bayek and Kassandra don't care about the S.S, however, they were never fundamentally trained in this art, at least, Bayek must have learned the S.S later in his life, he is the creator of the brotherhood and one of the assassins most relevant in the saga, it is OBVIOUS that he would have helped a lot to create the killer training, and Kassandra must have learned it in her more than 2,000 years of life. 3- If the assassins kill dozens of battalions to assassinate a target, then the death of the battalions was necessary, the assassins could not promote their ideology and eliminate Templar authoritarianism with flowers. As Machiavelli already said: "the ends justify the means", killing dozens to save thousands, it is not possible to save everyone. The AC fandom is extremely boring, we play in an organization called ASSASSINS and when they go to MURDER, you freak out????

Agree. There is so much creative potential for non-lethal options

Yeah. Hopefully Shadows will have some quick KO moves, like those running clothesline from black flag
It's a necessity for me, splinter cell is one of my favorite games of all time, especially blacklist, mainly due to the ghost challenge

I'd love to watch you do a permadeath mirage run full ghost. You know how it shoes your stats at the end. Trying to get minimum conflicts and kills.

Cool, you can ghost stealth in the game but can you ghost stealth irl?
I try to only kill my targets when I play AC. The few times I do kill guards is at times where I’m defending myself in combat.
