PC Music is fucking genius. I love how it's almost like guerilla marketing in the way it sorta slipped into pop culture (McDonalds ads, Charli XCX co-opting SOPHIE, etc). It was never meant to be obscure. It's totally completed its objective.

PC Music was founded by a bunch of art school kids. There's quite obviously a tinge of postmodernism throughout their entire catalogue. The visual side of their branding is even more obvious. Like, this song is literally a commercial for a nonexistent energy drink--and the singer is the mascot. Look a lil harder buddy

The most daring choice in this whole song might be the complete absence of reverb on the vocals while the instrumentation is lowered in the mix in the verses. It makes it feel almost uncomfortably intimate in the little quiet spot right after she sings, "I've been thinking 'bout you quite a lot". I feel guilty for not even knowing who she is - which, knowing the late, great SOPHIE, was completely intentional. Rest In Peace.
