    The way you dynamically calculate the dib and color palette locations reminds me a lot of how you can find offsets by using cheat engine's pointer map feature. Pretty cool seeing how you can calculate them without using cheat engine.

    8:50 tip: in your file explorer window, right click on empty space and click "group by" > "(none)". That will disable file/directory grouping by it's date.
    Also, you should probably create a dedicated projects folder on a (preferably external) drive, instead of just slapping it on to your downloads folder.

    • @jeFF0Falltrades
      @jeFF0Falltrades  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! And yeah, the directory tip is true best practice and words for the wise…when I’m working on something personal and unserious like this though, it always starts as a downloads subdir, and tends to stay there 😂
      Thanks for watching!

    2,5 hours? I will watch this in parts with some nice coffee.
    Are there any other games you're interested in modding in the future?

    • @jeFF0Falltrades
      @jeFF0Falltrades  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is the only way to enjoy these long-form vids - I have a hard enough time watching them in one sitting while editing them hahaha.
      And I’d like to actually do some more modern games; I’ve had a personal goal of doing more with UE 5.0 so I can learn more about it in general, and if I’m successful in learning even a little bit, I think it would be fun to explore what modern game modding entails and what protections are deployed against it.
      But I’m also about to have another kid, so we’ll see 😂

    • @MidtownMadness1
      @MidtownMadness1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jeFF0Falltrades Oh I cannot imagine! I have made a fair share of videos, but not one of this length and such delicate editing.
      Very interesting. I have been reverse engineering my childhood game (Midtown Madness), and with roughly 8 binary files reverse engineered, I am quite deep in the process of making a City Editor. I have no idea how modern games are in terms of structure and complexity, so that would be interesting to see what you may encounter / figure out.
      Goodluck with that 😜

    • @jeFF0Falltrades
      @jeFF0Falltrades  ปีที่แล้ว

    hi just wanna ask if you also have tutorials to reverse engineer packed software such as those protected by VMProtect.

    • @jeFF0Falltrades
      @jeFF0Falltrades  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not yet, but I've added this to my running list of viewer-suggested topics for new videos! I agree that some kind of overview of various packers would be a great tutorial topic for an upcoming vid.

    8:26 I don't understand why people watch reverse engineering or programming videos on a phone. It is imperative that reading code or assembly is going to be a lot easier on a larger display. People watching on a phone asked for it to be difficult.

      That’s so kind of you!! I do not have a separate site yet as I don’t feel comfortable enough yet to provide something on the levels of, say, Patreon, but you can leave tips via the “Super Thanks” feature on TH-cam. Please feel no obligation to do so, and thanks just for watching!
      EDIT: I have since learned that some people prefer not to use Super Thanks for various reasons, so I also set up a Buy Me a Coffee link, which is on my channel now.
