My Belkin Wall Surge Protector CAUGHT FIRE!

Let's hope this incident is just a one-off! I have the same Belkin surge protector in my bedroom powering a SFF PC and desklamp (in fact, the larger Belkin surge protector that came in a set with this one is still going somewhere too), and it has been going for about 15 years now no issue.
I still choose to buy Belkin equipment instead of the Amazon specials since I've heard of way more fire/safety issues with mains-AC-powered cheap equipment from no-names or even AmazonBasics. At least I think Belkin would care if any of their products presented a fire hazard.

Yeah it was crazy when I realized that this thing was smoking and burning inside. So much for that surge protection.

that's what happen man you used extension cords . you have too use the cable that came with the divices . also unplug your devices if you have surge

I know. Son of an electrician. We didn’t know there was a surge, and there’s zero reason it should burn up two devices plugged in.
