That’s exactly how I feel. It’s too bad the HDR isn’t perfect but 360 hz QD OLED monitors is just an amazing gaming experience overall. Hopefully we get perfect hdr someday. It’s still great for hdr gaming imo (I have a different brand).
I tried out a 32” 240Hz QD-OLED monitor. It didn’t compare to my 65” 144Hz QD-OLED TV. The picture was dull and dim. Within a few minutes I had the monitor packed up for return. Despite the lower refresh rate, TV is hands down the better gaming display. Far brighter, far better contrast, far more immersive.
It's always interesting seeing that there is no clear winner in these comparisons. I feel like Oled tvs were around for a lot longer and are a more perfect implementation of the tech, but monitors are closing the gap at a surprising speed. I'm using a LG CX and XG27AQDMG and I can tell you HDR looks simply better on the TV, brighter too, while on the monitor it's hit or miss, for games that don't look great on the monitor in HDR (too dim) I use adrenaline to up the brightness, contrast and saturation and after that it looks fantastic! Auto HDR is great too, and the pixel density on a small screen is definitely welcome. Especially since my 6900xt isn't enough for smooth 4k gaming nowadays, so I stick to my 1440p monitor. Great video, a lot of passion there my brother
GYATTTT, that S90D picture at 1:00 looks insane Do I need Windows 11 to play game titles that already have good HDR on the game already? I have the same 271QPX and Windows 10.
My 32" monitor is so much closer to me than my 55" TV that it still looks larger in my FOV. Best of both worlds lol As far as settings, Monitors Unboxed mentioned that the MSI models are more limited than some of the other brands like ASUS. Same panel but different calibration and features. That's why I specifically went with ASUS even though the MSI model was $300 cheaper. 12:19 The aggressive dimming in the peak 1000 mode is an issue with the way Samsung programmed the panels. Both MSI and ASUS released firmware updates (4K models) to try to compensate for it but neither have solved it yet. Blame Samsung
Nice comparison, been rocking my Alienware 34 inch 1440p Ultra wide QD-OLED for nearly 2 years now and it's fantastic those QD-OLED colours 😍. Although I am somewhat tempted to pair it up with the upcoming 500hz QD-OLED panel, I'm sure your video's gushing over 360hz will push me over the line 🤣I would pickup a TV but I still have my LG CX and it's hard to justify dropping £1,600 on another 165hz panel (Same as my monitor) if I'm going to upgrade I want more FPS! Hopefully TV's jump to at least 240hz, I think 4.2ms of persistence, 4k and 4000 nits HDR is a very good sweet spot for overall picture quality. Also have you seen Nvidia has driver side motion interpolation on the 5000 series (They are going to port it back to the 4000 series as well) I would be interested to see your thoughts on it when you eventually get your hands on a 5090 to compare it vs LSFG. LSFG has a few to many artefacts for me personally, and I also think due to the quality of the interpolated frames it tends to blur the image in motion.
I'm going to ask MSI a sample of that 500Hz QDOLED. It is going to be madness. Especially if we get the CRT simulation working for all games. The 5090 should be able to push those 500fps with MFG
great to see youre finally diving into monitors a question, would you consider making an HDR guide for windows 10 users? special k seems to be the only method and you covered that alongside reshade but had crashing issues but theres a way to get them to work thats on the official special k website i think you mentioned returning to it at some point so i thought to remind you
I haven’t tested a lot of OLED personally so great videos to give me a reason to get another and bigger one eventually. The HDR400/HDR1000 issues I saw just in a few sessions so good to know it’s a MSI thing also that the blacks might get better, very good monitors but still good to know where it lacks. Content and gaming looks insane on it if anyone is scared to buy, but it’s not about that for us comparing. Feels like the MSI calibration might be a bit wack, I believe I used the monitor to P3 color space with HDR off and it looked solid but what doesn’t without comparison.
I love my S95D QD OLED 65" TV being used as a dedicated PC monitor. It's mounted on the wall and I can switch it out when a significantly better model comes out in the future. I'm not going back to anything smaller than a 65". QD OLED is the way to go.
I would love to see you compare an OLED to a good Mini-LED TV some day. I'm very curious whether or not local-dimming is good enough to mimick the constrast of an OLED in gaming in your opinion.
I love your videos man. Apologies of this is off topic. I have a 4090 paired w a 5800x3D. It's gonna be a pain to upgrade to a 9800x3D but do you think it will *greatly* improve the latency when using frame gen (like 3rd party ones not just Nvidia) and if using DLSS would it greatly help when Im cpu bound (since dlss upscales from lower res) Thank you!
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Hmm interesting, so it prolly wouldn't reduce latency. And I was thinking of using specifically for DLSS upscaling bottlenecks. Okay I think i'll hold off. Thank you sir!
I have an LG CX and regularly use it for its 120Hz BFI motion clarity, but I wanted to buy a 27" 360Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor for late night gaming (and experience those QD colors). I'm worried that a 27" 1440p monitor might not look as good as my 4K 65". How far do you need to sit from your MSI 27" 1440p monitor before the perceived sharpness is as good as your Samsung S90D?
These QDOLED Monitors will appear significantly brighter and more colorful than the CX (250 vs 150 nits full screen). The color difference will be huge and the sharpness of 1440p is not a problem at this 27 inch size
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Sweet! I'm going to buy one this month. May I know if you've tried the free "DesktopBFI" app on your 360Hz monitor? None of these QD-OLED's have comparable BFI to the CX/C1, so I was hoping DesktopBFI would be doable at 120Hz and 180Hz modes, but I think in order to use it in 120Hz mode the monitor refresh rate needs to be set to 240Hz. Nobody seems to have tried it yet on 360Hz monitors.

Have you tried the Desktop BFI app at 180Hz on this monitor? It should give you 360Hz motion clarity, but I haven't seen it discussed at all on TH-cam.
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 There's a user updated version of DesktopBFI which has less flickering and can be used with VRR. There's a thread on it titled " Software Variable BFI/desktopbfi update". Try to check that version out. Chief BlurBuster commented on it.
That sucks that the MSI doesn't have all of the options. My Alienware 3225QF has these options for HDR: Desktop, Movie, Game, True Black, Peak 1000, and then it has Custom which allows you to adjust Contrast Hue and Saturation (RGBCMY).
My asus oled update got customized hdr when i first got it only had contrast and brightness now it has the regular sdr setting sliders with the latest updates made me start using hdr again in it
The majority of the time it has nothing to do with the panel, and more to do with Windows HDR. But tv's do handle HDR signal handshaking and decoding much better in general.
Hi Ariel I have a lg c1 One tv and I want to upgrade to Samsung S90C tv Is there a noticeable difference in image quality and HDR ? What are your suggestions?
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Unfortunately, there is only a 65-inch size. But I heard that this TV has a fast pixel burn-in rate compared to other screens company . Is this true?
Great comparison! you gotta try getting a review copy of the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM! it has the best HDR for any monitor currently available by far!
Interesting issue with crushed blacks. As far as I'm concerned When I bought my 34 inch oled ultrawide from alienware I checked for accuracy and reviews showed that 400TB mode had absolutely perfect calibration and tracking. Other than that I don't recommend hdr1000 mode it's just a gimmick on monitors unfortunately. Still I would like competent hdr 600 for monitor use. I gotta admit having super bright highlights at night that close to the monitor, 1000nits would burn my eyes, but 600 nits seems like a sweet spot.
@plasmatvforgaming9648 but when u play in total darkness and you're at average viewing distance (for a monitor) or closer then 1000 nits especially if highlights pop up instantly you will get blinded and feel discomfort (you can argue that's intended), it's quite different when u sit a little bit further, my TV gets a lot brighter and is larger, but I don't sit 50cm in front of it, that's why it's not an issue at all. Still I wish we had hdr600 qd oled monitor, a proper one
I have the S90C and I used some settings off Reddit to “calibrate” it. Still not sure if that’s the best way to do it. Did you find the C about as good as the D? One thing for me is I definetly like the LG OLED UI better because it shows when it’s in HDR. When I play movies on my PC onto my TV I don’t think it goes into filmmaker hdr.
Oh and also plasma I’m sure 360 is nice but what game can even do it? That’s why 120-240 is probably standard now because 1440P-4K it’s hard to even drive it. Now with frame gen we shall see. Still waiting to see if Nvidia does a driver update for 30 series for frame gen or I use lossless scaling. Wish there was some more comparison between DLSS quality vs DLSS frame gen quality and showing exactly what I’m losing in picture quality. What have you seen?

The S90D is much better calibrated for HDR when it comes to white balance and colors. I tried to perceptually match them but I was not able too, and later speaking with Classy he said white balance can be match but not the BT2020 calibration. Don't worry too much about it, by itself the S90C still looks great and I'd just recommend you try Warm 1 if Warm 2 looks too yellow like on mine
@plasmatvforgaming9648 you use FULL PC RGB on your OLED TVS as well? I always thought it was NOT capable? That I would clip out 0-16 & 235 - 255 ....if I forced full on my G3 or C3
It goes like this: 120fps/Hz sample and hold OLED gives you 8 pixels of motion blur when moving at 1000 pixels per second, then 144fps/Hz 7, 165 6, 200 5, 240 4, 360 3, 480 2, 960 1 pixel of motion blur when moving at 1000 pixels per second (approximately)
Hi sir, I’m currently facing an issue with my s90d and PC setup. Whenever I set the HDMI black level to high, I do see more black details, but the overall image looks noticeably washed out. However, when I switch it to low, the colors appear much more vibrant and natural. What could be causing this, and is there a way to maintain proper black detail without sacrificing color accuracy?
I forgot to mention that. The S90D is max out 1500 nits peak settings but the full screen brightness is about the same and that's what I focused on as the highlights difference is very difficult to show on camera
I have a s90d and a MSI 321up qd OLED and I had to use the saturation setting in the window calibration app on my MsI to get the colours more similar to my s90d. The monitor don’t have a Bt2020 mode like the TV
So, no Dynamic Tone Mapping OFF option, Ariel :( For this reason I stay on my LG CX. The day they made an OLED monitor with hardware calibration, black level regulation and HGiG, I will buy it.
Tonw mapping can be done with Reshade on the PC and these QDOLEDS still have 250 nits full screen vs 150 on the CX. I'd still prefer if they had more options like TVs and LG is the best on that
You should look into getting a sample SAMSUNG G80SD Monitor if possible, has almost identical U.I and and operating system as my Samsung S95C, along with full service menu access. Even comes with a remote, I’ve gotten my G80SD to look really nice actually because I’m able to change all the settings you mentioned that you see on a TV, the real problem these monitors have is the aggressive ABL, wish someone could find a way to disable that.
I have similar setup and I can confirm that. The colores are more intense on Alienware but hdr looks much better on g3 and picture looks more natural. For example in Stalker 2 colores look over saturated on aw3225, I downloaded reshade to reduce colore intensity becase I could not stand to see people with orange faces. On G3 the picture is fine, more natural.

I wonder how the Samsung QD Oled monitor compares to the MSI. The model is Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD), and it is also a 37 inch 360hz model.. I will check the manual for the picture setting and post it here: 🙂
So the advanced picture settings for the Samsung are: Sharpness, Color saturation, Color tone between Red and Green, Contrast Enhancement, HDR Dynamic Compression Color Temp, White Balance, Gamma, Shadow Detail, Color Space, Peak Luminance.. Quite a lot of options.. But there is also no real black level/brightness control.. I mean my old Plasma TV has more controls, 10 point white balance, color management system, etc..
The ASUS version of this same panel has options in HDR such as real brightness adjust, color temp, color saturation, contrast, and etc. So if it really starts bothering you that's always an option. I understand that annoyance idk why they don't let you control these things on most displays its been bothering the piss out of me aswell because the color temp on my lg monitor in HDR is very VERY warm and I cannot adjust it, so Im either stuck with gamer 1 with too warm of a color temp, or gamer 2 where the color temp is super cool. I just don't use HDR on my LG monitor because of it.
As far as colors for the monitor goes, I would recommend playing with the "Digital Vibrance" setting under "Adjust desktop color settings" in Nvidia Control Panel. A lot of times these monitors tend to be super washed out in HDR. I prefer to use this setting over the slider in HDR Calibration Tool because you can adjust it on the fly without having to make a new color profile. Good place to start is around 58% vibrance.
@ Nice, I have a cheaper AOC QD-OLED and it's still 10x better than the IPS I'm using as my secondary now. Blacks are absolutely perfect with color profile I setup based on one of your previous videos
Hi.Why is there such a big difference in brightness of S90D with Anapeak modification in service menu ! In windows with hdr calibration tool , with running HDR game anapeak 682 I have 900 cd/m² , with anapeak 1023 I have brightness 1430 cd/m² . The difference is like day and night for my eyes )))) Is this normal ?
This monitor did get a firmware update, so there's still hope that it'll add maybe a few more settings regarding HDR. It added for instance the option to turn off DSC to be able to enable DSR/DLDSR on nvidia (40 series and below, if I'm not mistaken 50 series nvidia GPUs support that feature with DSC enabled). Thing with that is that this monitor only supports 240hz without any color issues without DSC if you use HDMI 2.1, Displayport is limited. I think True 400 HDR in this monitor is so usable that I often forget to just disable it even while on the desktop (I use HDRTray).
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 Yep, actually I checked after commenting and they even released a newer update to my surprise in january, 2.07. You should check it out.
Don't you need to change the HDR Color profile in Windows when switching between the HDR modes on the monitor? I think you need to calibrate in Windows HDR Calibration tool separately in both modes and save two profiles, and change the assigned one appropriately when switching between Peak 1000 and TrueBlack 400, otherwise Windows will be sending the wrong signal.
Yes, but for Native HDR content it doesn't really matter because the near black calibration is the same for both profiles and the peak is whatever the Native HDR is (it doesn't get tone map with ptofile)
I would be curious to see you try an Alienware with dolby vision bright mode. I swear it has less apl/abl limitations making the average level probably twice as bright, while still keeping the 1000nit highlights. To me hdr1000 looks awful and unusable, hdr400 is ok but doesnt have the peaks. But Dolby bright has best of both.
@plasmatvforgaming9648 I genuinely can't wait for you to try 480hz OLED or that Dolby vision mode. Or heck even 32" 4k 240hz is so sick for mouse games. There's so much happening in the monitor segment right now.

ASEREEEEEE una preguntita! I have a LG B3 55" which has OLED Motion, but not OLED Motion Pro. Can I still do the locked at 30FPS and enable TruMotion tweak? Or this only works for LG C1 TVs? Saludos hermano!
were you going to check out monster hunter wilds' HDR for the open betas? world & rise also have native HDR but i don't know if you should just use native HDR or use external methods like reshade/specialk/autohdr/rtxhdr, etc. the game seems pretty bright & colorful when the environments change so maybe it could be a good test
I saw the game running at 70fps 1440p on a 4090 and it is CPU bound too. I wasn't considering it because of the bad performance. I might try the demo, but I don't believe my PC can run it well enough.
yea the beta is pretty badly optimized, but the devs said the final release will be improved (i wouldnt count on it until i see it though). i think your rig can handle it with dlss turned on, and you can swap the dll to dlss4 as well. but something weird i noticed on character creation was that while dlss3 had some flickering & aliasing (im on a bad 1080p 60hz 23" rn with dlss quality used for the comparison), dlss4 smoothed it out & looks better but introduced a weird heatwave/underwater sort of effect on facial features, especially in hair. i don't think you can see it during gameplay though so it seems worth the tradeoff. DLAA was also apparently more saturated than dlss quality from secondhand accounts but i havent really tested that. im assuming it'll all be fixed up in the final release since this is just a beta, aside from the performance since thats always a pain point. also youre carrying the hdr gaming scene, good stuff lol
@@plasmatvforgaming9648 i think it'd be really good if you made a sort of centralized HDR guide, youve covered it a lot in the past but the videos are scattered and get updated/outdated kinda frequently as you discover more fixes & more patches release lol. maybe a segmented video with timestamps or something similar so potential new viewers arent as scared off by the usual format of your vids? i had a bit of difficulty trying to find some of your vids and go back to the correct part since you mostly use raw footage with little to no scripting (no hate though, your work for the community is very appreciated)
So I just checked what picture controls my CRT had. It was a 17 inch Samsung 755DFX: Brightness (Black Level) Contrast Color Temp (Range between 6500k and 9300k) Thats it 🙂
My crt monitor had more and especially the important controls VS my lcd monitor. Crt had black level, which also affected color and color saturation. My lcd monitor has none of that. Only gamma and color temp. But not even 2 point white balance.
I'm currently using a 1440p 170Hz nano-IPS monitor (Gigabyte M27QP) but even my old plasma TV from 2013 has much better picture quality (colors, contrast and blacks, and even motion clarity), therefore I'm not happy with my monitor. I'm planning to upgrade my current LCD monitor but it seems OLED monitors are much worse compared to TVs :(. I know that OLED TVs have a brightness advantage over OLED monitors, but I would like my OLED monitor to be at least as bright as my Panasonic GT60 plasma TV in SDR content. As for HDR content, I want to be able to use HDR CRT shaders in retroarch. On my current 1440p monitor these HDR CRT shaders look too dim to be usable, so I have to use SDR CRT shaders instead. I wonder if something like the Alienware AW3225QF 32 4K 240Hz QD OLED will be bright enough (at least as bright as SDR CRT shaders on my LCD monitor) for these CRT HDR shaders?
I'm not sure what the brightness hit is with those shaders but most of these QDOLED Monitors are around 250 nits full screen which should be brighter than your plasma
@plasmatvforgaming9648 I was wondering if you could run an old 240p arcade game (e.g. Metal Slug 3) in Retroarch with the "CRT SONY MEGATRON PVM 2730 HDR" shader (it's in the HDR folder :P) on your QD-OLED TV and then on your QD-OLED monitor and tell me how drastic the brigthness difference is? If this HDR shader on your OLED monitor is at least as bright as SDR on the plasma, I would be happy.
Do you believe the results of Lossless Scalling frame generation look better in this monitor cause the base fps can be like 120 for 240 output? In lower refresh rates like 144 or 165 i didn't notice a increase in quality when more native frames where used versus 60fps base
I hope we get at least 240hz qd-oleds TVs next year with game motion plus from 120fps to 240fps , but if samsung continues with one connect box and mat finnish on their flagships we need lg or another company to make a technology that competes or exceeds qd oled in terms of color gamut and brightness imagine : lets say a true rgb tandem ph-oled that can hit 100% rec2020 , peaks at 6000 nits and a less agressive abl at 1000 nits full screen with active cooling , 3d conversion of any 2d content and 480 hz for more clear motion , at this point im just dreaming 😆
@plasmatvforgaming9648 , absolutely ! I bet that samsung displays had already the latest qd oled that's capable of 4000 nits since they gave us the 1st gen that's only capable of 1500nits , that would be amazing if they release a tv with all the upgrades each 4 to 5 years but that's just impossible, sorry this is out of context I want to watch a movie its called 'tenet' , I read online that it's capped at 400 nits in hdr , which shader should I use in reshade to bring it to 800 nits ? (I have an lg c9 it has hgig but no secret hdmi menu to do tonemapping ) , I hope that you get your 5090 soon !
Also watch out with the coating on the msi and all other new qd oled monitors , it's realy fragile, even when cleaning properly with a microfiber cloth and distilled water or screen cleaner you will get micro scratches when you flash a flashlight on it, witouth a flashlight you can't see them. But still my ocd and alot of people on reddit said the same about Al these newer qd oled monitors haha.
Ariel it's time to buy a colorimeter someone from 100/200$ and you will can calibrate all tvs/monitors connected to pc using HCFR or Displaycal no test pattern generator needed btw you can create one with raspberry pi furthermore. You will discover another world of engoying the image enthusiast!
Honestly, is 360fps sample and hold even that big of an upgrade compared to 120fps with BFI on the C1? in term of motion clarity it would be very close, 312fps vs 360fps, and the former only need 120 frames! Love your coverage of the monitor so far! Glad to see high full field brightness on it. Yes to active cooling as long as it's silent/only on with HDR brightness
Samsung QD-OLED monitors like the G80SD all run on the same OS as their TV's. These monitors have 90%+ of the software features of the TV's, including full picture controls, HGiG, and samsung even service menu access.
Hello. I have question? Im playing my ps5 pro on my lg c2 oled tv. On some videos vincent hddtv chanel he says that is better to enabled pc mode on lg tv. On last update it has new option "4:4:4 trough pass" should i enabled pc mode or disabled and turn on 4:4:4 pass trough. Im confused so maybe you can help me and little reasrch for me. Thank you.
Lmfao at 360 hz no body can see it and it only works in shooters and resolution is mostly 1080p. Useless unless you play games like counter strike, get yourself a good oled and enjoy movies gaming with hdr and vrr. Enough of this crap
@ at 4K? 🤣🤡. You don't need 200+ frames, whats next? 400 frames at 1080p next gen again just to brag. No wonder PC gaming is stuck on small screens and over priced hardware. Where is Black Myth at 200+ frames without DLSS🤣. This is PC gaming can't wait for 800+ frames at 720p with no innovation in PC games at all.
Unless you need 240hz or are some competitive gamer getting a gaming monitor vs an oled tv is pissing away picture quality. Tvs just get way brighter and the larger size grants more immersion. Was using a 48" lg cx since 2020 and upgraded to a 77" s90d last year as my desktop display/everything display. Had to get another desk to put more distance but it's even better. All the teeny wittle monitor kids are missing out.
360fpsm/Hz on a QDOLED is absolutely amazing for all games. The only problem is to get that performance. It 8s just a different experience. But yeah, I'd go with a 77" instead
@ubuu7 i play competitive games so I need my 1440p 27in the least 120fps will get a big oled for single player games next year once I build a 5090 and build out my game room and have a pc for each set up 😆
just get both. I use LG C1 55" alongside a 24" 1440p monitor. monitor is used for first person/mmo/strategy/crpg etc games and 24" is big enough for me I sit really close. wish there was a 24" oled monitor lol.
A TV from across the room can definitely look smaller than a 32 inch monitor from 2 feet away. Also, some of us have rigs that can push more than 120fps lol

Forgot to add the monitor was the HP Omen, TV is the Samsung S95C.
The S95C smokes any of these monitors when it comes to picture quality and it is not even close
Great video, a lot of passion there my brother
The pixel pitch on 4k TVs from 55 up is massive and allows for higher brightness. Even at 48 and 42 they lag a bit behind their bigger brothers.
I prefer size and HDR as my main display but 360fps/Hz is a different experience, but very expensive.

It is extraordinary they don't yet put a thin layer of tempered glass on the front of the screen.
I don't understand. It is so fragile I touched it with my nails by accident very softly and damaged it
My 32" monitor is so much closer to me than my 55" TV that it still looks larger in my FOV. Best of both worlds lol
As far as settings, Monitors Unboxed mentioned that the MSI models are more limited than some of the other brands like ASUS.
Interesting
You’re not gonna hit that insane refresh rate on 4k anyway. However 240hz 4K TV’s will be a thing with HDMI 2.2 coming.
I'm going to ask MSI a sample of that 500Hz QDOLED. It is going to be madness. Especially if we get the CRT simulation working for all games. The 5090 should be able to push those 500fps with MFG
great to see youre finally diving into monitors
a question, would you consider making an HDR guide for windows 10 users? special k seems to be the only method and you covered that alongside reshade but had crashing issues but theres a way to get them to work thats on the official special k website
i think you mentioned returning to it at some point so i thought to remind you
I will definitely dig into SpecialK HDR with Reshade integrated and share when I figure more out
HDR on windows 10 is a big NO-NO. Windows 11 has better HDR implementation and has an HDR calibrator.
I love my 4K 240hz QD OLED. It’s the best looking display I’ve owned
Most of the monitor reviews I've seen have similar issues with HDR

The S95D has the best panel available right now
I would love to see you compare an OLED to a good Mini-LED TV some day. I'm very curious whether or not local-dimming is good enough to mimick the constrast of an OLED in gaming in your opinion.
I will try a 10k nits MiniLED one day
I love your videos man. Apologies of this is off topic.
I have a 4090 paired w a 5800x3D.
It's gonna be a pain to upgrade to a 9800x3D but do you think it will *greatly* improve the latency when using frame gen (like 3rd party ones not just Nvidia) and if using DLSS would it greatly help when Im cpu bound (since dlss upscales from lower res)
Thank you!
It will be a worthwhile upgrade if you're CPU bound wity a high refresh display. I wouldn't do it for FG or MFG, I would do it for raw 240fps+
I sit as close as comfortable for gaming

Always Game HDR basic Static with 1500 nit mod and EOTF Tracking settings I shared
I went for 77" S90 C back then to get that 2nd gen qdoled panel.
Thats the best TV to this day imo
What has better motion handling for watching sports & cable tv??? The S90D or S95D??? Just curious before I make my final decision 👍🏿
They are supposed to be exactly the same when it comes to processing
I prefer the S90D because it has a glossy finish and it is cheaper but the S95D is a lot brighter
That sucks that the MSI doesn't have all of the options. My Alienware 3225QF has these options for HDR: Desktop, Movie, Game, True Black, Peak 1000, and then it has Custom which allows you to adjust Contrast Hue and Saturation (RGBCMY).
Interesting
All those color sittings are there on the samsung version of the oled monitors, g60 and g85, like color booster, static or dynamic tone mapping, cms
Interesting
My asus oled update got customized hdr when i first got it only had contrast and brightness now it has the regular sdr setting sliders with the latest updates made me start using hdr again in it
That's very good
The majority of the time it has nothing to do with the panel, and more to do with Windows HDR. But tv's do handle HDR signal handshaking and decoding much better in general.
Are you using colorcontrol for monitor? My monitor is muchm ore better with it.
Colorcontrol app doesn't work. There's an MSI app that I'll try

1000 nits is not very bright. The outside world is a lot brighter
The intro is the best haha

Check the previous bideo where I showed multiple games running over 240fps on my PC with a 3080 5800x3d
How is the difference between HDR gaming with full PC RGB on Monitor vs TV limited RGB only?
I haven't tested the difference as I don't see any reason to ever use anything other than FUL, but it is supposed to be better if different at all
@plasmatvforgaming9648 you use FULL PC RGB on your OLED TVS as well? I always thought it was NOT capable? That I would clip out 0-16 & 235 - 255 ....if I forced full on my G3 or C3
Believe it or not going from 120hz to 144hz is a big step up, Could only imagine 360hz
Leave that on Auto, you never want to miss match them. Use RGB Full on the GPU control panel and the TV will change accordingly on Auto
Are these comparisons made after your brightness settings for the S90D Or the S90D was at factory settings
I forgot to mention that. The S90D is max out 1500 nits peak settings but the full screen brightness is about the same and that's what I focused on as the highlights difference is very difficult to show on camera
How do you take HDR screenshots of games and view them in HDR?
Ctr alt printscreen the install HDR WCG image viewer app from the Microsoft store
I have a s90d and a MSI 321up qd OLED and I had to use the saturation setting in the window calibration app on my MsI to get the colours more similar to my s90d. The monitor don’t have a Bt2020 mode like the TV
So, no Dynamic Tone Mapping OFF option, Ariel :(
For this reason I stay on my LG CX.
The day they made an OLED monitor with hardware calibration, black level regulation and HGiG, I will buy it.
Tonw mapping can be done with Reshade on the PC and these QDOLEDS still have 250 nits full screen vs 150 on the CX. I'd still prefer if they had more options like TVs and LG is the best on that
@ yes, but you have to turn on HGiG (or turn off dtm) so you can find the clipping point with reshade
Test patterns incorporated into steam wallpaper engine ???
I don't know
You should look into getting a sample SAMSUNG G80SD Monitor if possible, has almost identical U.I and and operating system as my Samsung S95C, along with full service menu access. Even comes with a remote, I’ve gotten my G80SD to look really nice actually because I’m able to change all the settings you mentioned that you see on a TV, the real problem these monitors have is the aggressive ABL, wish someone could find a way to disable that.
I'll try
I need more samples to offer solid recommendations.
I have a 240hz alien ware 4k qdoled, and an lg g4. G4 is drastically brighter in game
The G4 is a lot brighter but colors might still be better on the QDOLED Monitor
I have similar setup and I can confirm that. The colores are more intense on Alienware but hdr looks much better on g3 and picture looks more natural. For example in Stalker 2 colores look over saturated on aw3225, I downloaded reshade to reduce colore intensity becase I could not stand to see people with orange faces. On G3 the picture is fine, more natural.
It also annoying playing a game at 1000 nits HDR and getting blinded by the UI or by lights in the game. It’s not very conpetitive being blinded.
That happens with Auto HDR a lot. Some Native HDR games have a UI brightness slider
Can you try 240 hz? Is that still good or a big drop? Thankou 😮😊
The higher you go the more diminishing returns you get. 60 to 120 is a massive jump. 120 to 240 is a big jump. 240 to 360 isn't much of a jump.

The G60SD is also 27', there are no bigger than 27" QDOLED Monitors that are 360Hz
But yes, the Samsung version seems to have the TV settings
The ASUS version of this same panel has options in HDR such as real brightness adjust, color temp, color saturation, contrast, and etc. So if it really starts bothering you that's always an option. I understand that annoyance idk why they don't let you control these things on most displays its been bothering the piss out of me aswell because the color temp on my lg monitor in HDR is very VERY warm and I cannot adjust it, so Im either stuck with gamer 1 with too warm of a color temp, or gamer 2 where the color temp is super cool. I just don't use HDR on my LG monitor because of it.
That's a very important thing and that's why I'm pointing it out first
Haven't watched yet, excited to hear your thoughts between the TVs and monitors, I have heard that the monitors don't hold a candle to the TVs.
It is not as good in comparison but QDOLED has perfect contrast and the best colors so I'd say it is a lot better than my LG C1 OLED
That's expected. I shared a guide for that for the S90C and S90D as well as the EOTF tracking settings
I'll definitely update it. Thanks for sharing 👍
I need to start reaching out to more companies to get review samples

Brightness (Black Level)
Contrast
Color Temp (Range between 6500k and 9300k)
Thats it 🙂
Those are basic settings that should be available on all displays
My crt monitor had more and especially the important controls VS my lcd monitor. Crt had black level, which also affected color and color saturation. My lcd monitor has none of that. Only gamma and color temp. But not even 2 point white balance.
Quindi qual è il migliore, TV o monitor?
TV is much better for HDR impact and immersion but 360fps/Hz is something else
For me True hdr 400 looks better than Peak 1000 in Games.
I want a 22 inch Full HD QD Oled monitor 😐😑
And any dead pixels? That's always my biggest nightmare when I'm on the market for display. :X
No, the uniformity is very good too. I might show that in a video
Actually not, I'm very disappointed with it. We're doing a livestream today with one of the LosslessScaling developers, and we'll talk about it
I hope we get at least 240hz qd-oleds TVs next year with game motion plus from 120fps to 240fps , but if samsung continues with one connect box and mat finnish on their flagships we need lg or another company to make a technology that competes or exceeds qd oled in terms of color gamut and brightness imagine : lets say a true rgb tandem ph-oled that can hit 100% rec2020 , peaks at 6000 nits and a less agressive abl at 1000 nits full screen with active cooling , 3d conversion of any 2d content and 480 hz for more clear motion , at this point im just dreaming 😆
These TV companies are spoon feeding us the tech, otherwise we wouldn't have a reason to constantly buy new TVs
@plasmatvforgaming9648 , absolutely ! I bet that samsung displays had already the latest qd oled that's capable of 4000 nits since they gave us the 1st gen that's only capable of 1500nits , that would be amazing if they release a tv with all the upgrades each 4 to 5 years but that's just impossible,
sorry this is out of context I want to watch a movie its called 'tenet' , I read online that it's capped at 400 nits in hdr , which shader should I use in reshade to bring it to 800 nits ? (I have an lg c9 it has hgig but no secret hdmi menu to do tonemapping ) , I hope that you get your 5090 soon !
Also watch out with the coating on the msi and all other new qd oled monitors , it's realy fragile, even when cleaning properly with a microfiber cloth and distilled water or screen cleaner you will get micro scratches when you flash a flashlight on it, witouth a flashlight you can't see them. But still my ocd and alot of people on reddit said the same about Al these newer qd oled monitors haha.
Yes, I commented at the end how I scratched the screen with my nails
Luckly for those of us who play like vampires in the dark its impossible to see haha
They don't work with qd Oled because of the narrow color spectrum
For these monitors I guess creating an ICC profile is the only way because they don't have calibration settings
How many Hz? 😎
360Hz 🔥
Honestly, is 360fps sample and hold even that big of an upgrade compared to 120fps with BFI on the C1? in term of motion clarity it would be very close, 312fps vs 360fps, and the former only need 120 frames!
Love your coverage of the monitor so far! Glad to see high full field brightness on it. Yes to active cooling as long as it's silent/only on with HDR brightness
I want to make that comparison. The C1 should be close but not better
No 5090 to buy..
Reviewer Techtesters has 5 RTX 5090
All got sent to her for free 😐
There are some 5090s our of the hands of gamers
I would never buy a monitor for HDR because it doesn't support HGIG.
Samsung QD-OLED monitors like the G80SD all run on the same OS as their TV's. These monitors have 90%+ of the software features of the TV's, including full picture controls, HGiG, and samsung even service menu access.
@tudorsuta2402 Yes, but it is matte and I want glossy.
Thank you.
For 60Hz output, the PS5 can be set to full, and I'd use PC Mode for that. Now, for 120Hz output, the PS5 is Limited, so TV Console Mode is fine
Lmfao at 360 hz no body can see it and it only works in shooters and resolution is mostly 1080p. Useless unless you play games like counter strike, get yourself a good oled and enjoy movies gaming with hdr and vrr. Enough of this crap
I showed multiple games running well over 200fps without frame generation

@ at 4K?
5090 + 360hz = ❤️
It will happen
@ whats your plan?
I sit 1.5-2ft from my screen so I'll be a happy wittle monitor kid 😂
A TV from across the room can definitely look smaller than a 32 inch monitor from 2 feet away. Also, some of us have rigs that can push more than 120fps lol
Do you have an email or any social media?

The reason I asked about email is because YT has been doing this really weird thing to me lately where it’s just deleting/censoring random comments and longer messages for no reason.
