I think the lyrics of national anthems range from dumb shit to silly. They just don't age very well because morals change with time. The french one is in the silly category most of the time, where it pictures an avengers situation with the good guys (the french) and the bad guys (whoever is against them), and goes slightly nazi with the impure blood part.

I am Burmese. But my own national anthem doesn't give me thrill or any goosebumps. But la Marseillaise make me burn with adrenaline and want to cry hearing it's roars for freedom and anti-tyranny.

@m n I agree to an extend. My personally have a background in a lot of travelling. I come from norway, been in asia, Many different European countries, and studied and lived in Brazil for two years. Of course there are a big spectre of diffrent personalities in every country, but the French stood out in being arrogant and not really including. All though the culture, weather, landmark and history make the country great.
@m n Oh, i havent lived in France, i have a friend who has a house in Bordeaux so we were a Group of friends there, and then i travelled to Paris with my wife for 1 week. To be honest, i enjoyed Bordeaux alot more then Paris.

Yo creo que esa niña fue una penosa excepción o un penoso caso de alguien que no se lo sabía. Otros si nos lo sabemos y lo cantamos con emoción. Lo que ha sucedido a últimas fechas es que en las escuelas se ha dejado de explicar el sentido de la letra de nuestro himno, que está escrito en un lenguaje poético decimonónico. No se explican los hiperbatones, las metáforas, los similes ni el vocabulario culto contenido en él, sino que ya lo cantan por mera repetición y eso favorece incomprensión y errores al enunciarlo. Sin embargo hay escuelas donde sí se trabaja con ello. Yo, por ejemplo, lo hago con mis alumnos. Les explico el contexto histórico y les explico el poema que da letra a nuestro glorioso himno nacional mexicano. También aquí hay patriotismo. Un abrazo. Lo que dijo esa compañera tuya es mentira. Sí es común sabérselo aquí. Pero que lindo también lo que hacen en tu país. ¿De dónde eres?
