Formula 1 is very much a game of survival of the fittest; if you don’t perform, you won’t last long. There are few drivers afforded the privilege of retiring on their own terms, and many of them will leave against their will and take their skills elsewhere, either continuing to race in other series or moving on to something else entirely. 66 drivers raced in Formula 1 in the 2010s. As of 2023, 15 of them are still on the grid, but let’s see what the remaining 51 are up to these days.

Jenson Button is racing in 3 NASCAR Cup Series races this year and also doing the Le Mans 24 in the Garage 56 entry
GG for sponsorship 👍👍
Just so you know, these drivers haven’t won the “Daytona 500”. That’s NASCAR’s opening race for the season and its most prestigious race. They’ve won the “Daytona 24h/Rolex 24h”, IMSA’s opening race of the season and its most prestigious race
Thanks for clarifying
I was about to say something. By the way, I just realized that the closest any Daytona 500 champion has gotten to F1 experience (outside of Mario Andretti, of course) is Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson's seat swaps with Montoya and Alonso, respectively.
There's Tony Stewarts swap with Lewis Hamilton
@@corwintipper7317 Smoke never won the Daytona 500 as a driver.
@@nicolesgaming8917 some Nascar drivers drove in IndyCar, which is kind of like being in a less powerful and less grippy F1 car. They drive on road courses in IndyCar too. Tony Stewart drove in IndyCar before Nascar.
"If he were alive today, he would be 33 years old, and there is a very good chance he would be driving for Ferrari, most likely with his godson Charles Leclerc as his teammate."
Man that hurts...
Man I really wished Jules didn't die. It concerns me how long it took before the halo was made to protect the most exposed part of an f1 driver
Well he’d be driving for Ferrari so he’d be constantly murdered in real life as well by the Italian mafia
@@AZBCDEE 😐
So close the same could've been said about Kubica, damn... Drivers live on a thin line, all the respect to them, and RIP Jules
Maldonado testing crash barriers is the funniest shit I've ever heard 😂
they knew what to let him do!
“The greatest driver of all time.” - I swear down on me nans grave
Rocketpoweredmohawk
The Devil himself
The infection is spreading
I think for Kobayashi you should have mentioned how he holds the lap record at Le Mans arguably one of the best laps in motorsports
The legend that is Kamui Kobayashi.....all of his overtakes and speed...still today speeds up in endurance racing.....
He really was the overtaKing
I like how most of them have a successful post-F1 career. It's nice that Alguersuari have success outside of motorsport, and Kobayashi being both the team principal and a driver of the Toyota hypercar is kinda cool
+Keep fighting Michael
I just love the touches of comedy, with Ricciardo planning a hit on the bulls and Gio being trialed and crucified. It is good and not distracting.
The one about Gio made me laugh 👌🤣
Forgot to mention: Jenson Button is running a few NASCAR races in 2023, starting at COTA.
And will be racing at le mans with a NASCAR stock car
I would do anything for a return of JEV and Wehrlein, sometimes I think what if Vergne got the 2015 RB seat and Pascal got the 2017 force india seat IT COULD'VE BEEN SO GOOD
I met Pascal at the Red Bull ring when he returned to DTM and asked him about any future possibilities of him racing in F1 as he was my favourite driver at the time. He dodged the question nicely which back then gave me a bit of hope that he may have been in secret talks, which obviously didn’t happen.
He’s done well for himself though so I’m happy for him.
I heard from an ex-F1 driver that they have fired Vergne because he was being honest and told the team they could all have done better after the races, meanwhile Kvyat celebrated even P11 and was always quite happy and nice to the team after every race. And it is quite weird to tell everybody how good everything is if you finish like P14.
Romain Grosjean had a good Daytona 24hr race, driving the #63 Lamborghini where he and his team finished 4th in the GTD Pro class
He also scored his second pole in IndyCar in the 2023 season opener at St. Pete but crashed out after a battle for the lead with Scott McLaughlin.
I'm positive he already had a pole at Indianapolis Road Course in 2021
@@darthlatitude2105 I'm just going with what the commentators said on the St. Pete race icl, I'll check in case
@@darthlatitude2105 and so he did
but to be honest, Grosjean crashes almost every weekend
@@mionellessi3086 true. He's a less exaggerated Maldonado
It's really been amazing to watch your channel grow, sponsorship deals and all. Really well done, keep it up!
I love how peter meme'd everyone, can't stop laughing! 😂
awesomely insightful video! But just a quick correction, you mention a couple times around 9:28 the Daytona 500, when it should be the Daytona 24 Hours. The 500 is the NASCAR race.
Jaime Alguersari has my favorite post f1 story by far, with palmer being a close second
Keep fighting Michael, you inspired a whole generation growing up in the 90s and 2000s
Schumacher is dead.
Very nice video idea, loved it. Looking forward to a part two with all drivers who retired in the 2000s 👍
I love the way you introduced Nico Rosberg 😂
KeepFightingMichael
❤
Love that some of these drivers are racing other series, especially NASCAR. Was there for Raikkonen’s first Cup race at Watkins Glen, and met Kvyat that same weekend. Also, Button is going to be racing in NASCAR for a few races this year, including running the NASCAR Le Mans programme this year. Also, Kobayashi won the Rolex 24H of Daytona, not the Daytona 500. Great video though!
it was he's first in cup but during his F1 hiatus he raced at nascar truck and nationwide(aka xfinity) series for 1 race for each
Nice, my guy finally got a sponsor deal. Been loving the content for months now, love to see it grow. Keep it up mate!
Karun Chandhok is now a presenter for Fifth Gear, and a brilliant one at that.
I always loved Ericsson (not sure why, I just thought he was cool) and when he left for IndyCar, I ended up following him and now I watch IndyCar along with F1. It's honestly super enetertaining and I love seeing my favorite, if slightly unfulfilled, F1 driver finally succeed.
I applaud you for completely ignoring Mazespin 🎉🎉🎉
Cause Mazepin didn't race in the 2010s nor did Latifi
Swing and a miss...try again retard
Great to see that you have 16000 subscribers! Ive been discovering your channel at 2000 subs. Keep it up!
6:44 Now he's gonna dabble in Nascar for 3 rounds and he even set a world record for the Batak board reflex test!
Love your videos, excellent researching, fantastic scripting and delivery, especially enjoy the subtle one-liners. Keep up the good work Peter! I’m looking forward to the 80’s driver rankings whenever that may be
Who would have thought that of all the drivers mentioned, Sakon Yamamoto arguably has the most interesting post F1 story arc? 😮
Awesome video as always brother, keep it up!
I find it interesting that Narain Karthikeyan raced part-time in the NASCAR Camping World (now Craftsman) Truck Series in 2010, and won Truck Series Most Popular Driver (as a part timer-!).
Also worth mentioning for Giedo that he's a spicy memelord on social media and goes by Giedo Banter Garde
LOL 🤣 that's a nice nickname
Well done! Great video.
This Video is very Useful and Amazing, I got up to speed on all of My Favorite Former F1 Drivers since the early 2010s, Great Work and Keep it Up 👍🏻
Jenson is also about to do a NASCAR race, the same race as Kimi actually.
Keep it up mate great vid
2:32 "Has torpedoed his way into a seat with Prema"
I see what you did there.
Great video! You’ve earned a new sub!
incredibly well made video!!!
Good work Pete
Great work!
Maybe you could do a video with the drivers of the 2000 era or even the 1990s.
Interesting and well made video, thanks!
I love how you brought up all the memes with Rosberg LMAO
Loved the video mate . I’ve been looking for a vpn thanks for letting me know
Kimi Raikkonen: Finally getting that drink he didn't have
Congrats on the sponsorship!
I love the little memes and jokes you added. Caught me off guard a few times
Most underrated f1 youtuber ❤️
Everytime when peter uploads a new vid he never dissapoints great work
Jenson is now doing NASCAR races and the NASCAR 24 Hours of Le Mans entry. Also, for Rossi you said he won the Daytona 500 and not the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Di Resta wasn't sacked by Sky, he left to concentrate on his WEC Peugeot efforts.
Find you someone who smiles as much as Pedro de la Rosa smiles in every picture
Among south and southeast Asian drivers in F1, Haryanto is second only to Albon. The sponsor money ran out before he was able to establish himself, in the bad days of inflated budgets, forcing him out. You have to wonder how he would have done had he come along now. He was extremely good in the rain.
He would've been in the back as usual.
Sato and Kobayashi are second and third
2 notes imo:
- Felipe was also the CIK president (ie karting) from 2018 to 2022.
- Di Grassi’s environmental philanthropy includes co-founding eSC - an electric scooter championship.
Interesting, informative and based, as usual. Thanks!
Nobody is commenting on the sutil "more than just a friendship with lewis hamilton" thing? I knew they were friends, but this implies.... something.
Glaring omission about Massa. He heads up the FIA Karting Championship.
Paul Di Resta drives for Peugeot in WEC
Adrian Sutil recently drove in Ferrari Challenge last year
Great video! ;)
Shout out to Pascal Wehrlein who's currently leading Formula E by 18 points even though he retired from one race.
Another thing about Maldonado is that he found some intrest in NFTs and cryptos...
Kovalainen has also been driving Extreme E this weekend!
giedo van de garde didnt lose the court case actually, the judge basicly told both party's to stop beeing childish a figure it out. giedo had a valid contract to some extent meaning sauber had to pay him 15 milion euro's.
Nice, at least he got paid 😄
Vettel out of retirement for the season opener driving that Aston Martin alongside Alonso would’ve been a dominant lineup in a surprisingly dominant car that all his work during the season lead to.
I didn't know that Karun was an F1 driver! I like him on SkySports. Great video!
i knew the "eaqual machinery" is coming :DD
You failed to mention Jenson making 3 NASCAR starts this year and taking NASCAR to Le Mans
I think it’s interesting to see how many f1 drivers won endurance championships.
I wonder at the end of this year you might do a list of the best drivers of the 2020s so far. If not is there a chance of doing a list of the best drivers of the 1980s as many went to drive in the 1990s and I feel it could be as far back as the modern era of F1 can go back to.
Why would you make a list of 2020s drivers when it's only 2023?
Are you retarded or don't know what a decade is?
Worth pointing out that Albon was out, but did the 'Red Bull support and simulator' role that Ricciardo how has, and is back in. It's not a bad job it seems.
7:35 You made me spit my drink all over the screen. 😂
>Number one number two driver
I died 💀
I’m a newer f1 fan (2020) but goddamn some of these faces. Buemi looks like a cursed Angel Di Maria and one of the earlier ones just looks like a bearded max Verstappen 😂
Not to forget that Rosberg was an investor in the german version of shark tank, until he resigned in earlier this year. Obviously to be a pundit again, not like he mentioned that of course
“Paul Di resta, greatest racing driver of all time” don’t let RocketPoweredMohawk hear you say that
Jensen Button will be racing in the NASCAR race at COTA in a few weeks. Kimi Raikonen, Connor Daly, and Jordan Taylor will be on that race aswell. (Last two race in Indy Car and IMSA.)
Sutil actually competed in a few races of the Ferrari Challenge Europe last season, the same series Doriane Pin won.
To add on to Jenson Button: He’s racing for NASCAR’s Garage 56 entry at 24 Hr of Le Mans and will race at COTA in the NASCAR Cup Series.
10:00, I'm curious what the longer version of that rumor is between Lewis and Sutil is?
They gae
@@deerlord2363 that's obvious in the rumor, what I mean is what is the full story of the rumor
Jenson Button makes his NASCAR debut this weekend at COTA! Kimi is also in the race. Pretty cool
2:29 Kvyat appeared in 2 NASCAR races in 2022: once in Cup Series and once in Xfinity Series. I doubt that he will come back to NASCAR.
QUE GRANDE ERES MAGIC!
can you do a vid on teamate battles? i kinda want something grosjean and magnussen vid
I started an F12021 driver career & 3 seasons in Giovinazi is at Mercedes (replacing Verstappen, who left for Haas) meanwhile Mazepin replaced Nando at Alpine
9:29 it’s the Daytona 24 hours he won not the Daytona 500
Daniel kyvat torpedo’d his way into a seat lol
Jenson Button is racing a few races in NASCAR this season and in Le Mans for the NASCAR entry
Would love a list of f1 drivers who ran as an official full-time driver for only 1 season. Not half a season or one and half season, one single calendar year as a driver on the grid not as reserve driver either in the previous or latter seasons
You completely skipped over Masa's involvement as the FIA karting director or something like that. All I know is he's in a leadership role in karting.
That description for GIO tho...😅
Antonio Giovinazzi, you killed me @peterBrook
You've gotten your Daytona events mixed up. The 500 is the NASCAR season opener race round the oval, Rossi and Kobayashi have won the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Very different events at the same track.
Timo Glock is actually brilliant on the German F1 broadcast
If I had to guess Alguersuari's the DJ.
He was an extremely good F1 commentator on British radio when he was barely 22 so I'd imagine he'd be very good at it.
"Italian Jesus" 💀
Button is also expected to make his NASCAR debut later this year at COTA
Also, Kobayashi has won the 24 Hours of Daytona, not the Daytona 500. That is a different race and only caters to NASCAR drivers
I nearly spat tea all over my laptop when I heard "the cucumber" xD
That was a good one 😆
"
Paul di Resta, the greatest racing driver of all time ..."
wait ... whaa???
I actually had to replay that bit 2 times to realize that's what I heard.
RIP Bianchi
Jules would of won races with Ferrari by now .
"Torpedoed himself," hahaha thanks for the reminder.
