I did not know where we were going to end up, but from the moment you introduced the wood I was captivated. All of the little spaces that the fish can use really bring this to another level. You have built my dream tank 😂
HAHAHA the cloudiness actually reminded me of my first setup after being introduced to filters and a bit of aquascaping. Had a little internal filter that failed to clear up my water for about a month, had to redo it may times with different hardscape and sand etc till i just said to myself let me build a huge DIY filter with a lot of stuff in it maybe it will clear up and in a day it did clear up in a way that was so shocking, Loved the experience, almost gave up since i had seen nice crystal clear tanks by the gallery.
I absolutely love that you use small details like twigs. In nature in lakes and rivers we see fallen trees to broken branches to sticks and twigs. It’s rare to see in aquascaping. You just got me to subscribe based on that detail. Thank you
Wow! Love the scape and fish. The darker water fits actually nicely with the idea of the Amazon. Thanks for putting the whole thing together, was great to watch.
Love the big shallow! It really does the fish justice, they look so comfortable in there. Only thing I would change is opening up the wall of rocks by removing one in the middle, and pushing the sand back so that it looks more like a cave, which will give some depth and make the structure less uniform. You could also have some bigger pond plants (I think cyperus papyrus might be cool) in the back where the echinodorus melted, they are often quite strong! But I love the scape nonetheless, you are brilliant 👏👏👏
You're a very conscientious pet parent. I wish my plants arrived looking as good as yours, mine usually arrive dead or dying. I love the green neon tetras! Well done, very nice.
Running airline tubing from the outflow spray nozzle to the driftwood is such a clever idea. I'm totally borrowing that for my 10 gallon shallow tank so I can saturate the emersed portion of my driftwood and grow some emersed plants on it.
Great videos !! I think you’re right up there with SerpaDesign and MD fishtanks!! Some videos are even better!! Love your voice too. Thanks for all the great content
I’m planning to re-scape a 6.6-gallon bookshelf tank and I’m strangely nervous about doing it. Thank you for the tip of using filter floss when draining the water, I don’t know why I never thought of that.
The hardscape in this tank while looking very unique is an example of bigger is not always better. I really did love the old scape on this shallow tank quite a bit more. The efforts are appreciated nonetheless.
Excellent Mark. Really loved watching the separate episodes, but nice to see them all edited together. Love the big shallow .... wouldn't change a thing!
a heads up when planting or trying to grow a condoris plants, You want to make sure that you feed the roots they need root tabs placed near the roots when you plant them in and they need to be re fertilized at least once a month to keep them healthy. otherwise they tend to melt like yours did.
Made it till the end of the Video The setup looks very beautiful ❤ I have a few questions though.. 1. How did the grass grow so well even without a substrate ? 2. How often do you feed the fish 3. How often is the maintenance done and do you vacuum clean ?
This aquascape is really stunning, I love this kind of nature vibe. Although the water is not crystal clear, it looks more natural and more like amazon style. And it's sad to hear that all the echinodorus have not survived🤣, but the emersed part still looks really nice.💪
I ALWAYS underestimate the size of hardscape to get, I always try and find the coolest looking rocks/ wood, then realize the individual rocks look good, but when it comes time to put them in the tank I realize they are too small to get a good effect. This video just reinforces that fact, that piece of wood is HUGE, but still fits perfectly for the design you're going for.
I think the cloudy water was from the wood. I had that issue, even after boiling my driftwood. Can’t imagine it would be easy to prep a piece of wood that size.
On the left hand side that top piece awarded sticking out you could wrap or wedge some spag the moss In the Little Fork there And add a couple of either bromeliads small bromeliads tangelos or a couple of miniature orchids would look nice. i'd also add maybe a fern in the back right corner area behind or to the right of The Kenadorus. And you said you had some creeping fig that's cool that's good stuff but be aware If it gets a lot of nutrients and a lot of light and a lot of water it will grow exponentially so you're gonna be forever having to trim it down and nip it in the bud. the stegorn can get quite big you could also get a birds nest fern which is kind of nice and also place that somewhere in the back near the Canadoris or just to the left of that but you wanna raise up the land a little bit so it has some chance to have air to bree on the surface you could put it in a small pot and place the small pot I would make a clay pot and use that just to hold the plant in place. He said You're making us an African Tank so I would assume you're gonna add some crepensis possibly an upside down cat although I don't know if there's enough room for it but it should work um congo Tetris might work well although they're large fish So is the catfish The Sinidontis.
I love this type of video when you can really get into the story of the build and see how it develops over time. I can’t really think of anything I don’t like but think you are correct in needing more emerged growth. Have you thought of using Peace Lily or Monstera?
When you opened that left cabinet.. that's how women feel when you open our wardrobe 😅 Like, whoops, look at all those shoe boxes. Nice tank, as always 👍 I was actually excited about the emerse echinodorus, too bad that didnt work out. You could try peace Lily (lepelplant) instead, it's a house plant but it loves wet feet. I use them in the filter of my shrimp tank, works really well.
hey man! how would you go about growing multiple types of carpeting plants in the same tank without them growing into each other in the long run? (example - dwarf hair grass and HC)
Would love to know what the second terrestial plant was, very pretty.. can't wait to get some driftwood to add to mine, good to see what may be in store..thanks for the content 😊

Cool video, lovely tanks, thanks for sharing. I think your sucker fish may jump the tank if you aren't careful unfortunately. I've had those fish jump in the past and its always sad when it happens. Hope it's going well :)
It's great as always,I've been reading that mist makers are not 100% good for live stock and material getting rusted after awhile and just stop working what is your experience and how long you running mist makers weekly or daily, cheers mate
Open top tanks with house plants are becoming my favourite and im currently planning to setup one. But Im still concerned about jumping fish. How do you minimize this. Im loving this tank.

add some air plants to the top. Looks excellent!
I would have opted for only one species of apisto. Those things are pretty territorial.
The design is fantastic though
Aaaand I just got to the part where you said you lost the borelli. Sorry for your loss. I breed those things, downright vicious towards each other
ik zou de combi apisto en corys niet samen houden
in de natuur komen deze soorten elkaar zo goed als nooit tegen doordat ze in verschillende delen van de wateren voorkomen.

The diversity of plant species adds so much richness to the scene🤩
I'm watching this because of the good aquascape ideas and the handsome aquascaper. Loveyou!
the amount of time and energy you have put into this is beyond impressive.....love your work! keep it up MJ
Wow, this video is going to be epic! I watched all the shorter ones, but who doesn't like to watch 1h aquascaping video in the background :D
Filter floss in the tank at the end of the siphon! 💚 I'll be using that tip moving forward.
Thank you

I don't want one like this
But you make me want one. Every time.
Great, great VIDEO!

I cannot believe I saw it completely. Very nice video
My goodness this tank is really a masterpiece. Phenomenal job very impressed, mate.
Out standing design!! You might try getting a clean garbage can and soak the wood (preferably in hot water) before putting it in the tank.
That was a fantastic rewatch. I put it on to have in the background while I did a water change, but ended up just sitting down and watching it all!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
