What I think it means, and interpret it as is that in times of struggles and pain, one tends to try to endure it independently. Either because you feel like you're in it alone or (more significantly) you think the pain is what you should be in for a bit, what you need to go through, and, to the best of your ability, hold on...to try to come out at the other end. More often than not I think I need to work through my pain, even if it means being in it(being in the rain), before ever opening myself up. But in the process Barely holding on day to day and subsequently isolating myself, I never really consider or want to involve/rely on/bother anyone else. But from the outside, healthier perspective, from the Rose's perspective, they say : "You want to make yourself go through the pain. But it's better to be held than holding on." They see that you can be assisted(or at the Very least HELD) through the pain of your disposition instead of facing it Every day alone. At risk of losing sight of your place in the world and possibly thinking you don't have anyone. Which I think is why this song reminds me of Jonghyun and why I think they used his photos. This song puts a mirror to a way of people dealing with depression.
