A beautiful lead by Danny Funderburk, from their "Travelin' Live" project, 1986. Group members are Danny Funderburk, Mark Trammell, Glen Payne, George Younce, and Roger Bennett on piano
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolutely the pinnacle of Southern Gospel quartet singing! The perfect song - sung by the perfect tenor singer - and backed up vocally by the perfect quartet! Thank you, gentlemen, for burning your music deep within my heart. Southern Gospel will never be the same without you - you are greatly missed!
Mark Trammel - baritone- has given the Cathedrals the greatest depth ever. His clarity of voice and range is unmatched among baritones. He is also one of the most humble singers I've seen
I agree completely regarding Mark's humility. Mark Trammell is my 5 yo son's favorite singer based on the song "Master Builder." At a recent MTQ concert (POST COVID!!) Mark held him for a photo. That photo is now framed in Joel's room. It was a special moment between a boy and his hero.
Danny is the best tenor the Cats ever had, in a class by himself. He is a very humble man. It is never about Danny.... it is always about the message of our hope in Christ. That is what makes Danny Funderburke so special and the very best.
This song expresses the love of Jesus. He simple says whosoever will may come. Danny sings with such sincerety and I love to hear Mark Trammell and Roger Bennett. I miss the Cathedrals. They were a most compassionate and real group and reached out to their fans. ........Gwen Weaver
I love to hear Danny Funderburk sing , period. God put His Hand on this man. This one and Somebody Touched Me flat out makes me cry every time. It is that beautiful! We grew up singing like this throughout the 70's, 80's and 90's. And every 4th Sunday, we would gather at the "Home Place", my dad's childhood home, to sing Gospel 4 part harmonies. Now at 55, I can't believe how l didn't realize what a blessing it was. God blessed us when He put The Cathedrals together.
Best. Group. Ever. I have such wonderful memories of growing up with this music, of listening to their cassettes/records, of going to see them in concert at the Temple Theatre in Meridian, MS. The only music they had most nights were Roger's piano and Mark's, and that was all they needed. This video show's Danny in his unbeatable prime, at the height of his vocal powers. George Younce will never be equaled at his position.. One of the best singers period. Glen was a class act, and Mark could sing any part on the stage in Gran's fashion.
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any tips you can give me.
Whosoever will, let him come, and drink of the Water of Life freely. All it takes, is a total surrender to Jesus Christ, in Faith and Repentance. That's all it takes!
Tenors like Danny Funderburk and Brian Free are living proof that you don't have to sing way up into the soprano range to sound great. Both of these tenors are legends!
Larry Goss • 8y ago After producing 18 projects for the Cathedrals I'm convinced there never was is not now and will never be another quartet as great as these guys. Every minute I spent with them was heartwarming and inspiring. They will always have a place in my heart and I cherish every moment we shared together. Lari Goss Found this in a comment section with this lineup and I think it speaks volumes!!!!
If you choose Jesus Christ, you choose Life. Choose Him today, your soul is so precious to Him. His coming is very near, and He wants you to be saved so that you can reign with Him in the Kingdom of His Father. Oh! friend choose Jesus today
Oh my soul. Absolutely love that voice. Im not sure I know of any tenor in gospel that can quite get there. No strain, smooth as honey, and he hits that hi note first at 3.40. I am not comparing with anyone, I hate to do that, but cant help but think I dont know of any other that can get there.
O que o Danny, fez nessa música, não tem o que falar. ESPETACULAR. Quarteto igual a esse, nunca mais. Amo o Cathedrals e essa formação é a mais harmoniosa e carismática.
I love this music, but since becoming an atheist the words of the songs just don’t resonate with me anymore. But I still love to sing George’s part! I remember in college fall of 95 at Cedarville University, college in those days, a friend of mine in glee club asked me if I wanted to see the Cathedrals in Dayton at the Memorial Auditorium. I exclaimed “who are the cathedrals?” He looked at me like I had two heads. But it just took that one night of seeing them in concert and I was hooked. I especially loved George, which I’ve come to find out is not unusual. Then about four years later I had the opportunity to shake his hand at a Gaither concert. He greeted me as if I was an old friend! I remember not wanting to wash my hand for a while. He truly was and is my hero!
AMEN!!!!!! That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD JESUS, and shalt believe in thine heart that GOD hath raised him from the dead, THOU SHALT BE SAVED!!!! Make sure you know where you will be going after this life. Its only one of 2 places, HEAVEN OR HELL!!!
The Cathedrals with this lineup is my all-time favorite. This song is a very touching song, definitely one of my very favorites. Danny does a fabulous job with much feeling and his voice hit the high notes perfectly. The rest of them are really spot on too. They filled in middle and lows very well! Does anyone know who wrote this song?
Whosoever will, let him come and drink of the water of life freely. I'm glad for that promise, and that Jesus is the water of life that we can drink from. The Samaritan woman at the well drank from his water, and then ran back into Samaria, telling her friends "He told me everything that I ever did! Is not this the Christ"? I can only imagine how she was rejoicing in her spirit, having been set free from a lifetime of sin. She now had Jesus within! Think also of the man that dwelt among the dead. Chains had been put on him, possibly time after time. He was so demon possessed, however, that he snapped the chains. But he could never break the chains of sin that held him bound on the inside. Then, Jesus stepped into this man's life, set him free from the legion of demons that were possessing him, and when everything was said and done, the man was clothed, and in his right mind, and wanting to become a disciple of Jesus, and travel with him! Jesus told him no, but then gave him an assignment that was right up that man's alley:"Go, and tell everybody what great things that God has done for you". The man, too, had taken of the water of life freely, and found that water to be bubbling up within him that would overflow on to everybody that would listen to his testimony, and receive Jesus Christ as their own personal Savior and Lord! That can happen to anybody that will say yes to God, and goodbye to sin! I'm glad for that promise!
When I was a kid, we used to sing the old Phillip P. Bliss hymn, "Whosoever Will" (not the same song as this) in church. As a 5-year-old lad, I wondered who "Whosoever Will" was...I figured he was a cowboy character, like Hopalong Cassidy, Hoot Gibson or Gabby Hayes.
Whosoever will may come to Jesus, whosoever will may come. That's the promise He gave us, when He died to save us, That whosoever will may come. My Jesus is a loving Saviour, Who gave up his life for me That forever and ever man could be set free That whosoever will may come. The love of a child for its mother, Is a love that I can understand, But the love of my Saviour is so vast yet oh so real That whosoever may come. Whosoever will may come to Jesus, whosoever will may come. That's the promise He gave us, when He died to save us, That whosoever will may come.
One of my husband' co workers took a job in which she would keep the same so she wouldn't be home with her children. I thought as she was talking. wouldn't that be a blessing if she would have stayed home. There's not much time and the joy she would have.
@moproducer My mum asked "what was your Sunday School lesson about today" I too was five. I replied, " we had a story about a witch." My mother was astonished and got in touch with the teacher. who replied the text had been " the son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost"
Can somebody help me understand the lyrics in that one place in the song? Danny sings some word that sounds like "vastient", and then he sings "oh so real...". What is that word?

Danny was the producer on my first project with The Kensmen Quartet! What a treasure!

Just another example that Danny Funderburk is the Greatest Tenor to ever walk in shoe leather!!! Great Great Post!!
Formação maravilhosa...Danny top...demais...tento imita lo em meu first tenor

Beautiful Danny!
Man this is awesome!!! Danny is the best!!!
Open invitation....just bring your heart. No money, no status, just YOUR HEART.
Thanks so much for posting. This has always been one of my favorite Cathedral songs because it featured the softer side of Danny's voice.
Dannys son Jason has been to our church to sing he is fantastic

Amen Auke, Cathedrals had excellent tenors, I think Funderburk has to rank, in my opinion, as the top.
Thank You Jesus!!!
Praise the Lord❤

I love this song
Thank you Jesus for that promise found in
Revelation 22 17
Whosoever will, let him come and drink of the water of life freely. I'm glad for that promise, and that Jesus is the water of life that we can drink from. Great song. Thanks for posting as always!
I GOT TO GO TO A FEW ALL NIGHT SINGING'S. THEY WERE THERE AT LEAST ONCE.
Kyle, thank you for these posts. This is my favorite album by my favorite group of men.
What is the name of this album
Whoever....Thank you.😊
What a blessing. Thank You, Jesus, for "Whosoever Will"
Vast Yet so real....is correct
What an anointed song. And what about that 4 octave spread between Danny and George on the last chord.
Beautiful, wonderful, melhor formação do Cathedrals, Danny Funderburk faz parecer tão fácil cantar...
love it !!
Love this :)
My favorite Southern Gospel group! They were the best!
Mine too! One of my favorite childhood memories was going to watch them in a park close by my hometown and they sang all night long.❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome song

Beautifull song!!
Whosoever will may come to Jesus, whosoever will may come.
That's the promise He gave us, when He died to save us,
That whosoever will may come.
My Jesus is a loving Saviour,
Who gave up his life for me
That forever and ever man could be set free
That whosoever will may come.
The love of a child for its mother,
Is a love that I can understand,
But the love of my Saviour is so vast yet oh so real
That whosoever may come.
Whosoever will may come to Jesus, whosoever will may come.
That's the promise He gave us, when He died to save us,

Richard's dad died at 69 along with Glen Payne and George Younce. Roger Bennett died at 47.
@chehsed the words are, but the love of my Saviour is so vast, yet oh so real
I agree. Ernie Haase and Kirk Talley are a close 2nd and 3rd though.
❤👍👍❤️

indeed
Best gospel quartet of all time!
Does anyone know who WROTE this song?
@chehsed Yes. She is correct.
Are there any more songs from this night (album) on Facebook
My wife thinks he says, "Vast yet". Is she right?
Can somebody help me understand the lyrics in that one place in the song? Danny sings some word that sounds like "vastient", and then he sings "oh so real...". What is that word?
his is vast and yet so real
@greyandold Remember good old childhood hymns like "Gladly, The Cross-Eyed Bear"? Or "Bessy The Parachute"? How about "Love Lipton Tea"?
